Just Bought 2014 ZX14r HELP!
02/04/26 3:07 PM

As the title states I just purchased a 2014 ZX14r second hand with 15,000 miles great condition everything OEM except Two Brothers slip on exhaust. My question will it make much difference in performance if I switch to a single voodoo full system before getting the ECM tuned by Moore Mafia. Also what other mods should I do before sending the ECM for tuning not planning on racing the bike but want to do all the affordable mods before sending in the ECM.

Any exhaust change is going to move the torque value up or down so any change from stock will be a sort of improvement.

Flashing the ECU will still be within an AFR range so as not to lean out or over rich the tune from stock. So Moore's tune might be more aggressive than Ivan's rich smooth tune.

I'm more of a stock rider rather than taking a chance on receiving a brick or be caught up on an emissions breach and pay to have it revert back to stock.

Wait for other comments of experience rather than hearing my rant about performance tunes.

The bike won't feel like it's going to self destruct at high rpm with a full system. Honestly, I feel the bike not wanting to go faster at high rpm with a stock exhaust. It feels like a pressure cooker waiting to explode. If you don't feel that at high rpm, the slipons must be doing it. I never owned slipons so I can't advise how they compare to a full system.

Also what other mods should I do before sending the ECM for tuning not planning on racing the bike but want to do all the affordable mods before sending in the ECM.

I would get the tune for a race air filter and NOT run a race filter unless you're actually racing. Ask Chris Moore about it but according to my research, a race air filter adds a tiny bit of peak horse power. The difference in AFR is so small, you can run an OEM air filter with a tune for a race filter. ...either way, the bike runs good. Why use anything but an OEM air filter unless you need the extra 2 peak hp you can't feel?

Other than the exhaust and the air filter on a street bike, you have the oiling mods: high pressure relief valve, billet oil pump cover and HD oil pump sprocket. I doubt if any have any real effect on ECU tuning. The HD sprocket will increase oil pressure at lower rpm but it also uses up some hp. just go with the billet cover and high pressure oil relief valve when it's convenient.
