Concours seat for 25 ZX-14R - what years?
01/29/26 5:58 PM

I'm really tall and just picked up a 2025 ZX-14R. I already have Knights Designs lowering pegs on the way, along with some bar risers, but I'd like to raise the saddle height a bit. Searching here has shown that the C14 seat should fit if you swap the seat bracket, but then I read something about the saddle being too wide or something like that.

Does anyone know what year Concours 14 seat will fit a 2025 ZX-14R?

Apparently it works. I don't think the Connie has changed since 2007. You probably came across this. doubleD has been on the forum recently and sounds like he's had direct experience.

I don't think the ZX-14 seat cowl will fit eith the Connie seat though.

The ZX14 was built 2 years before the Concours, so, seats are interchangeable. You have to replace the brackets.
I have done almost every modification to my ZX14r to make it more of a 'Sport Touring" Bike.

This is my thread on the Optional Touring Concours Seat which I added in 2015.

If you are using a laptop or desktop, use the "Search" box for all my mods.
Type in "Givi Bags: for all of us who added luggage, too.

Speaking of "Tall. I met a fellow rider at the 1994 "Rider Magazine" gathering at Steamboat Spgs, CO. He was 6'6" tall. He had added forward footrest pegs on his 1000 Concours.
Also, notice how much drop he did to the foot pegs.

Another idea is to use an Airhawk seat pad. It blows up and would give you the same height as the Kawa Touring seat. That Kawa Touring seat is over $700 new. Here is a used Airhawk for under $60.

Now that is one amazing deal!

Does your windscreen extension come on and off easily
or is it permanent?
Nice job on the tour boxes, I have a 40 liter backpack
attached to my pillion seat, which allows me to
carry some things when I need to, not nearly as
good as what you've done, but it works for me,
plus I wear a backpack as well when needed.

It looks like your friend added foldout highway pegs

I replaced the stock screen with a Zero Gravity touring screen. Then I raised my handlebars 5" higher with Convertibars and the Touring seat added 1.5". I needed more wind protection for traveling.

A rock knocked a chunk out of my first Zero Gravity, so I bought another and now use this 2-pc screen for traveling and colder weather. Held in place with 2 tiny bolts and
3M Dual Lock Type 400 Reclosable Fastener tape. This better than Velcro tape. Cee Bailey Screens use this type of product.

Thanks, good tip, I've never see this tape, I'll have to try it.
Have you discovered a good solvent when removal is desired?

(What style of bit did you use to cut the holes?)
Excellent idea, I just took my oem out to the ZERO Gravity that
I have on now, and I could make this work,
do something similar to what you've done with yours.
---
I cut me ZG Sport Touring screen down and inch or so,
I didn't like the look (on the bike) of the way it
kind of lipped-out at the top, it's designed to deflect the
wind better, but I just couldn't live with the way
it looked, and didn't notice much wind deflection
property differences if any,
after cutting it down.
---
Do you have a photo of your bars, installed?
I don't need more than the 1'' risers that
I put on but would like to see how yours looks.

//////WARNING TO new READERS; I would not suggest
cutting down your
zero gravity screen it can break,
I almost ruined mine
it started cracking and chipping even though I had it
taped up, the pieces that came off whee shards, so
whatever the material is, it is quite brittle, not
at all like what is on my Gold Wing. ////////////

I would think a jeweler's coping saw with a very fine tooth blade would be the cutting tool to use. They cut metal slowly but plastic probably wouldn't be to bad. Get lots of extra blades because they break with normal use. For the finishing touches, sandpaper to round the cut edge off and then a rubbing out with 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover.

I used a scroll saw with a fine metal blade, it probably should
have been finer, ,but it was the same one I used on my
gold wing, not even a hint of a chip, but this ZR screen was
just flying apart, very brittle. Coping saw probably would have been
better, but didn't have one and have a sketchy patience window.
I used a belt sander to bevel the edges, came out nice not counting
couple of chips that are hard to see.
I also made one very STOOOOPED mistake once finished with
the cutting phase, like a complete ijiout, I ran my finger
'along' the plastic not 'crossways', checking the edges, sliced
the snot out of my poor little finger.

i put a cheapily obtained gtr1400 seat on my 2012 as a test , they use the same base but the bracket needs to be changed if you don't want it to wobble (held on by 2 nuts heh). Things to note is the concourse seat doesn't taper in as much as the 2012- seat so it feels wider at the legs aswell as being that bit taller , but it has a more aggressive buttstop which is nice.

i ended up disliking the extra height as effected wheelies and made wind protection less effective without being more comfortable in a worthwhile manner. Amusingly ended up using it as a base for a cut down race/street seat keeping the existing / more prominent buttstop in place. More comfortable than one would think and lowered in the bike , win win i guess.

I've done Race Seat searches for
my '13 ZX14R, and came up with nothing
that resembled what I was hoping to find.
I don't have rear-sets, which would probably
help keep me in the seat under hard acceleration,
so a tail or butt stop would be nice.
The 'stop' on my stock seat is maybe six of seven
inches further back than what would work for me,
and its slopped backward, I would want it
slopped slightly forward and taller.

it was cut down a bit more at the front after this but it shows the difference well enough. with a seat bag and such on it looks like a fairly normal seat.

Sargent Cycle in Jacksonville Fla will modify your stock seat any way you want and will then recover it.
I've used them many times thru the years and they are great to work with, as long as you can tell them exactly what you require. I had some fairly extensive work done to one seat and had then ship it back uncovered so I could "ride the foam". I wanted some things changed which they did and then it was shipped back to me with a new cover.
Now is their busiest time of year as Daytona Bike Week is just starting and they do a ride in service, as well as take new orders. It generally takes a while for them to catch up but I think it would be worth considering. The seat on my 2013 ZX14R "Bagger" was done by them years ago for a 2007 ZX14 I had and I liked it so much, I kept it when I sold that bike and have used it on each successive ZX14R since.

chrly had his stock seat carved way low and left a good butt stopper. I believe he said it was still quite comfortable with the minimal thickness of foam left. I think a skinny seat is a nice appearance improvement on a ZX-14 too, it makes the bike look like it has a wasp tail.

mine ended up a little wasp tail'ish but the seat bag hides it somewhat. its a huge improvement over the stock seats normal butt stop though which feels you're just gonna slide over the rear.

Yeah, you need the seat cowl to really make it wasp tail-ish! I like the way it looks. I'm going to do that with mine someday.

The Concours 14 touring seat (99994-1575) came in. It's an easy swap of the metal brackets on the bottom, and it pops right on the ZX14.

It's taller, as expected. Maybe about an inch or a bit more, which is very welcome. It's also wider, which I wasn't sure if it would be comfortable but it is for me. Only had it on for a quick trip around the neighborhood, but I'll put about 60 miles on it tomorrow and will report back if there's any negatives. It was very comfortable for my short test ride, for sure.
