Carmalita has a little sister now! I named her "Sabine" after Sabine Schmitz who's the fastest German female racer. It's been sitting in my garage for a week waiting on this damned weather! It's killin me. I don't have a good pic of her yet cause she's still tucked in but this one looks just like her! Oh and by the way Carmalita told me, she's not jealous in the very least!

OMG!! I can't wait to ride her! It's not a 14R but I think it's still a really cool bike to have and ride. I can't believe I got one. Those things are hard to come by, at least it was for me anyway.

I have a lowly 2012 S1000RR and I think its going up for sale here in a few weeks. My '13 ZX14R, IMHO, is more comfortable, more ride-able with all the tq, and covers 99% for me what the BMW does.

If I lived near Deals Gap or did track days, I'd keep the Bimmer. I still might, as I tend to keep bikes, but I see it sitting a lot this season with the new ZX in my garage.

mebgardner - If your asking me that question, I'm 37. Been riding since I was 3. Have had sport bikes since I was 15. I've never notowned a sportbike in the 22 years I've been riding them. I raced CCS and some F-USA from 1995-2000.

I love sportbikes. I guess my riding has changed. We don't have the curvey, tight backrouds out here in CO like we did back east. We have fast, flowing canyon roads that are lined with armco or sheer rock clifs. I thought the BMW was the most comfortable bike I ever owned on the test ride. In many ways it is - until the ZX14R.

In the end, I got tired of the 600-esque peakiness of the S1000rr. I enjoy the low, broad torque of the ZX on the street.

LOL!! Mebgardner my "surviveability" isn't good at all! LOL I've been riding since I was 4-1/2 years old and started racing when I was 6. I raced until I was 25 and have rode off and on since. So racing and going fast are just in my DNA. I LOVE bikes and going fast! Currently I have a 2013 YZ-250 2-stroke, 2007 R6 track bike, 2013 CVO Hardley Ultra-Classic, 2012 ZX-14R and now this HP4. I truly ride them all but the 2 that get most of my attention are the YZ on the crappy days, and my ZX on ALL the others! I've had the Hardley for over a year and it only has 1100 miles on it.
Not sure why I bought it sometimes cause I can't bring myself to walk past my ZX on a good riding day! Oh well. I'm fairly certain though that there's a gooooood chance I'll get my ass skint up at some point! LMAO!! The only bike that changes my mentality when I'm riding though IS the Harley. ALL the others make me foam at the mouth, look around like I'm trying to spot a lame rabbit, breath like I'm down to the "short strokes" and bring a look on my face like I just slammed my pecker in a door!! So, to answer your question....NOT GOOD!! HA! HA! But it's like I tell my buddies, "You can't feel any more alive, until your that close to death!". There's just no other feeling like it!! Well, I USED to think there was ONE but I got used to that one and I've never gotten used to this one!! So...it WINS!! LOL

You have race and off road experience, and it sounds like, in spades. Good for you!

A gentle reminder, then. Remember, those first 6 months to a year, those are the times when you need to think very carefully about what you're doing, relative to those faces you want to see again.

Part of the good news is, this cycle you've just bought is very programmable. Lean towards the conservative edge of those programming points (TC, ABS, etc alphabet soup) for awhile. I KNOW, It's HARD. So? You're a tough guy, tough it out, it'll be worth it rather than facing that lovely face across the hospital bed.

I've been away playing with new toys too. I sold the cruiser, not my style anymore. I sold the dual-sport, not good enough / bad enough in the rock canyons I play in now. I bought a 2013 Yam WR450, and I Love It! It's getting the most attention at the moment. Off Road is very cool in the desert SW canyonlands, but I hurt more from dropping it / having it fall off cliffs (got too many stories again, now). Me and the missus went riding up Kitt peak this weekend, her on the Suz. 650 ADV, me on the ZX14R, and we had a great time together on that twisty road up the mountain. Would have been nice to play on a HP4...

Yeah, I'm a little jealous.

Thank you guys very much! It's supposed to be in the 60s here this weekend so I've got my fingers crossed! I actually wouldn't have bought a liter bike if I wouldn't have had the chance to get one of these. It's just a cool bike to have, I tried to pick one up last year and they were all already sold. So I just HAD to jump on the chance to get one. I've heard but can't confirm it that BMW only brings 240 of these to the U.S. each year. So if that's really true, I feel really lucky to have one! Anyway, I really appreciate you guys!!

Cornelius, It comes with a full Akropovic exhaust system, Ohlins front and back, electronic quick shifter, it's dry weight is 25lbs lighter and some other stuff but I haven't figured all of it out yet. Here' are a couple of pics Wolfy!!
