Been wanting to order some helibar risers, and instead just decided to machine some myself. Not really cost effective, but I wanted to add my personal touch somewhere. Took me approx. 10 hrs but they came out fairly well.
Started with a piece of billet aluminum
trued up both ends to get a solid foundation to work with.
Kind of a blurry picture but here I'm boring it out to get it close to final I.D.
Here is where things start to get interesting because I like to run pretty close tolerances
Here you can see where I've laid out what needs to stay, and what need to go...
Doing some work with a 4"x 1" end mill here. This is what took the meat of the time involved because you can't rush this and I was doing the side radius curves with X and Y handwheels laterally. Really sweating bullets here.
Here's what it looked like after the milling was complete.
Scribed it out for .750" pieces
And here's the finished product. You may be asking yourself why there are two sets here.. Well I wanted to send those to a fellow 14 enthusiast that has helped me out a ton with his expertise on this machine we all love. If I text this guy he responds, call, and he answers. Anything under the sun..no matter what. Cblast, thank you sir, hope these make Priscilla even more of a fantastic machine.
