I'm typically OK with stock windscreens and wondered why everyone seems to install a different windscreen on their ZX-14R. Well, now I know. I think. I haven't had much time with my new-to-me 2022, but today I was able to get some highway time and up to "normal" speeds the stock windscreen seems fine. But after a couple quick pulls to ... fun speeds ... I realize you can't tuck down far enough (especially with a tank bag) to get out of that wind blast. So now I get it -- and need to get one. Any recommendations for a windscreen that doesn't block everything like a barn door (I live in hot South Texas so need that wind) but pulls it up over the helmet when tucked down against a tank bag at ... ahem ... inspiring speeds?

I've always gone for the low swept stocker. The limitation on my Gen1 seemed to be the seat. If I really flattened down, I found my ass was up on the tail fairing. The Gen2 feels better. Still, I'd go with a carved out seat to give me a few more inches of tuck.

I prefer stock screens but on this bike I may make an exception since it's so easy to reach those fun speeds where I realize I better get tucked down. If I didn't use a tank bag it probably wouldn't be much of an issue but I find tank bags just too convenient to not use.

I just installed a Zero Gravity SR to my Gen2. It's almost identical in shape to the stock screen but about a quarter inch higher and you need to flex the windscreen to fit it to the fairing. The holes in the Zero Gravity don't quite match up to the fairing screws. The top two well nuts on the left and right are misaligned to the fairing screws by about an eighth inch so there's no way those would go in. I solved it by removing the well nuts and using some washers, o-rings and nylock nuts instead. The SR isn't the type of screen you'd be looking at for increased wind protection but I thought I'd mention my experience with the product. If you go with a Zero Gravity windscreen that's taller, you might run into the same issue. I don't know if Zero Gravity's manufacturing process is off. The Gen1 OEM windscreen is identical to the Gen2 so it's not a problem with fit between the Gens. I'll be trying a Puige Standard windscreen soon, it should have the same profile as the stocker. I have a Puige double bubble packed away. I bought it for my Gen1 but never installed it. I'll be trying it on my Gen2 before buying their standard height windscreen. I have a photo of the Puige double bubble and it looks like it's molded perfectly to fit the fairing without flexing. Based on what I've seen so far with windscreens, I'd steer you more toward a Puige. Mad Hornets also has a double bubble that's very inexpensive and looks great IMO. I recently bought a used upper fairing and the windscreen it had seems to be this exact one. It fit the Gen1 fairing, it should fit the Gen2. some of the well nut holes in this screen were broken but it appears that was from the owner way over-tightening the screws. I might buy a Mad Hornets double bubble just to verify the fit. I don't really care so much for the look of a double bubble but as double bubbles go, the Mad Hornets screen looks darned nice.

Update. I bought the MadHornets screen and it fits my 2022 perfectly. No issues whatsoever. Seems reasonable quality -- no obvious flashing or rough edges, but not quite as seamless as a Puig or something like that. Clarity looking through the screen looks good, as well. Good price, seems like nice quality, fits perfectly, and the airflow over the screen is smooth -- no wind buffeting.

Thanks for the update, I might get one. The damaged one I have on the used upper fairing I bought was very dark but transparent. I presume that is the color they call "Black." Other manufacturers like Zero Gravity would probably call it "dark smoke." From the ad photos, the Mad Hornets Smoke looks about like the normal level of tint you'd expect from a light smoke. I'm not sure what the iridium is. It appears to be a mirror with a dark tint over the top. You might call it a black chrome, maybe.

What color did you get and how would you describe it?

I got the "Smoke" color -- it's a dark see-through, definitely not the "light smoke" you see from other competitors. But it is transparent.
