The general consensus is the more triangular profile of the /55 as compared to the flatter profile of the /50 will let the machine fall into turns easier. There also may be a slight decrease in straight-line stability.
This change does not act in a vacuum. I have my front end lowered 3/4" from the stock setting to quicken steering. If it gets too nervous with the /55, I may decrease that figure. Suspension setting also are integral to handling characteristics. I like mine on the soft side, which requires smooth inputs to remain stable. This winter, the suspension will get a freshening with new oil in the front and a shock rebuild/re-valve/re-springing. The experimenting continues......
