Always liked 9Rs, think they're great looking bikes. Never rode one unfortunately. 14R is larger (wider, longer, and heavier) but it's a competent bike and can go around corners too. My guess is you'll like your 14R a lot. Am interested after you get some seat time in just how different the handling abilities are compared to your 9R.

Do the zx14r save fuel, (run more efficiently) in low power mode, or do you get the same milage ?
Thanks guys, im so excited to get the bike ;-)

it all depends, if your riding in beast mode or not. regardless the ninja gets great fuel mileage for being the fastes hyper bike in production. im right under 38 mpgs ridin cool, will go down to around 27 mpgs riding n grinin tho. some guys even less if their terrin it up. hope this helps.

Low power mode isn't much use except restricting power output. For highway riding, you're not engaging the secondaries anyway so it's not going to do much between L & F. Having monitored my "current MPG" a few times with L & F, I can say I see no difference in mpg.
You can expect anywhere from between low 30s to upper 30s. I think it's possible to get 40-41, but only riding as efficiently as possible and at around 60-65 mph and staying out of the throttle completely. I avg 33.7 right now, and that's up a little from I think mid-high 32s. There's a place which basically is like a track, and I haven't been riding there much lately but when I do it probably gets about 10 mpg.

My 20 year old daughter rode my 14 for 30 miles or so and loved it. She had been riding my Ducati 748 and it started raining. I felt it might be safer to put her on the 14 with the traction control on 3 and in low power mode, and I rode the Duc. She did fine and couldn't believe the smooth power everywhere. She said she'd want it lowered an inch so she could flat-foot at stops though.

I don't know about L being safer. Stock the STPs don't start opening until what 4k anyway and aren't fully open until around 6k? I put mine in L the other day and gave it the beans and I'm not sure "L" is the right description. Should be more like "F-"! Even in L you're talking around 150 hp and I'm sure the torque curve is still massive.

Honestly I'm surprised the liability lawyers let Kaw get away with calling L "low". Seems like that could get someone in a lot of trouble, cause it's anything but low. It' might be lower, but very far from low. Think about your common idiot, they think low they think 50 hp, not 150. See what I mean? I know it's in the manual. Again...giving common idiots too much credit.

I have a 13' also I get better gas mileage than most maybe? on avg I get 40 mpg per tank (WELL SOMETIMES) yes I checked that few times even where I live at 5,000 ft above sea level. riding in 6 gear at 65-70 mph I get 42-46 but that throttle is very very sensitive. I've gotten as low as 15-20 when red lining through the first 4 gears dame she put a smile on this old guys face. YuuuuuuuuuP I'm still here to talk about it..lol..
Be careful and good luck, heads up it took me a while to get use to the weight and size I had a CBR 1K for 25,000 miles so big difference but way smoother.

Beautiful machine, Maddy. Hope you enjoy riding it as much as you obviously did your 9R.
I know a lady who has a ZX-14R AND a C-14, but she just trailers them around trying to snag a boyfriend.
