Well I guess I'll vent. I bought my 2006 14 a little over a month ago, weather hasn't been great but riding whenever I can. I'm out for a ride, taking it easy not even misbehaving in the slightest. I turn around in a new parking lot, facing the sun, ride the length of the parking lot to get back on the road...........BANG ran right over a curb I didn't notice separating the two lots. $%@%^#$%^&^#$^!!!!!!! So now I have two tires wrecked and worst of all two bent ass rims. With only a couple weeks at the most in the riding season!!!!!! So if anyone wants to get rid of some stock rims.....I may know an interested fella. F! I feel like an idiot but it is what it is now.

I have both rims(silver)with New SS Ceramic Bearings, but I'm sure it's NOT worth the shipping. I was keeping them for resale, but now I'm sure I'm keeping the big girl. If your stuck let me know.

It's the dumb things we do that hurt the most. I could write a book lol. Don't let it eat you up.

Thanks for that Romans. I'll get over it, just like the other times..... It just stings on my new bike. I think I may just bite the bullet and go insurance on this. Even if I bought used rims, got a smokin deal on the tires and did everything but the tires myself I'd still be looking at close to a grand. We'll see. Either way my season's over. Thanks again.

Man... Harsh... So sorry to hear about that. I literally started tearing up, staring at my last candy lime green '14 I ditched. Still miss that bike.

Sorry, no rims to offer. Heard lots of stories of mishaps with a new bike. You're not alone. Don't be too hard on yourself. I rolled my new bike on its side forgetting to lower the sidestand. Often happens in situations where your not going down the road.

Forgot to put the sidestand down twice, once on the 14 and once on the 6R, dropped her both times but was able to fall underneath the bike and prevent any damage....to the bikes.

sorry that this happened to you hope you only messed up the rims and tires ... It remineded me when I went to a DR's apt one day when I got there there was something going on there was a lot of women out in the parking lot and I just locked her up and went in. When I came out this guy and his wife walking by and she says "your bike looks really cool" and they just stand there looking at me gearihg up lol I fire her up and you know rev her up to let them hear how good she sounds I let out the clutch and just start to move bam!!! Ran her about four feet with the disc-loc in skidding out of the space and as I was falling I just caught the bike i was in a panic for just a sec wondering what it was lol bike was ok but I will never forget my lock again

Don't even think it. You will have bought at least 10 sets of rims by the time there done shoving it up your Ass. If the bike was totaled maybe it would be something to think about ??????

Friend here just went through this. They will tell you that your aloud one free one, ha. Don't fall for it. If you do, it will be hold your ankles time for the next 5 years until the accident clears. His Insurance went from 1400 a year to 4200 when it came time to renew. Run away. Santa is coming. You never know.

After second look, I may not need new rubber, the back is still holding air, and the front looks ok. I think I already know the answer, but would it be worth it to try to fix the back rim? The front is for sure toast. As well I'm fairly sure the forks are fine, but I'll ask: I was only doing about 10-20kmh would that be enough to damage the forks? Thanks for the support guys....still feel dumb. My last crash was in a parking lot too (bane of my existence) I think Rook is right, when I'm on the road I'm switched on, in a parking lot guess I need to pay more attention.

No idea about fixing a bent rim. Forks--I would check to see that they did not slide in the triple tree at all. I found that my fork clamps were undertorqued from the factory. The fork tubes taper smaller in diameter as they get lower so if they slide in the clamps, they could slip. The nose would fall on the front fender which probably wouldn't hold the weight -------just a bad scene.

I know this question should be in a different section but it is a continuation of this thread. Just want to confirm that all year wheels will mount up to the 2006. I tried search here but I keep getting errors. Thanks in advance

The forks can't slide in the clamps....IF....the top is secured.The lower fork clamps can be fully loose...if the triple tree is tight,the forks can't go up(frame lowering).The top triple tree clamp tightens on the "tapered" part of the fork top cylinder(I imagine that's why they designed it that way...so the frame wouldn't just fall if something was "kind of" loose(the top clamp).And they're certainly not gonna go down...that would be "raising" the frame.Now IF you hit the bottom of the engine...running over a curb or something(raising the frame),and the top tree was LOOSE,along with the lower fork clamps,then yeah,the forks could conceivably "drop".

Oh yeah...Tacdawg...buy new rims(or good "used" ones).They'll probably NEVER be able to straighten a bent rim right.It's aluminum.Not good for bending or heating.You can't see the tire damage sometimes.I'd get NEW tires as well...Hitting a sharp edge with those tires(the front at least)...you've most likely caused a dangerous weak spot in the carcass...something you probably wouldn't be able to really see...until she let go.Must have smacked that curb pretty hard!This was a raised concrete block type deal,or a drop?

I'm thinking Yes. I would be very surprised to hear otherwise. Lots of them on E-Bay. Make sure you don't use UPS for shipping. If you do, get your wallet out when that brown truck pulls up or 12 Gauge. I just got burned AGAIN. I think they take the cost of the item and double it. Grrrrrrrr.

Blue: Thanks. I was pretty sure the forks wouldn't be an issue for those reasons and the low speed I was at. Thanks for the confirmation as well on the rims, I figured that was the case but a buddy suggested it so I asked. As for the tires, I didn't update but ya I'm not going to bother, better safe than sorry and there is definitely hefty scuffs (hence a weak point) on both tires. Actually I wasn't even going fast, maybe 20km. It was a new parking lot and it was a raised square curb to divide the two lots, no lines or landscaping yet and I missed it. Hammered it straight on as I was going to merge onto the road.

Romans: Thanks as well. I have been looking on Ebay. And I hate UPS too!!!!! Bastards and their BS Brokering. I always go USPS for my bike parts from the States if I have a choice. Or I send it to a PO box in Washington State. To ship it there and then pay for shipping to home is still cheaper than UPS!!!!

Same, I just don't know how they get away with the EXTRA charges ie: I just bought a cat back exhaust system from Edelbrock. When I ordered it I paid 77 dollars for the shipping. That Fu.king brown truck pulls up and want's another 99 dollars more. I still don't how they get away with it.

As soon as I see the shipping is with UPS I look elsewhere. Must hurt sales. IMO, it's stealing. I did not agree to pay 99 dollars more. 176 for shipping who would ? Fuc.ers.

yea Rick you got burned my wife ordered a bed for my son and it was comming ups I went crazy thinking about the cost she said it had 49.00 shipping the guy gets here and the thing shipped at 147,lbs it was wood all wood the guy could just lift it and no extra charges I would ask the commerce dept where you live to see if that is legit

I always get burned with UPS. Brocks had piper cross filter on special last year for 50 bucks, OK, 25 for shipping, OK, It shows up and the UPS guy want's 69 dollars more. Grrrrr, 69 more fucking dollars 4 what. The filter weighed next to nothing. Schnitz Racing same. Anything from the States to Canada look out. USPS no problem. But UPS, that brown Truck, Grrrrrrrrr. Pricks. If I knew and or agreed to it thats one thing, but to show up and demand the doe, well that something completely Diff. Dems fighting words.

No sweat I've been known to go off on a rant time to time at home hear with the fellas. . At any rate Romans you are right. I have only not been screwed by UPS on a couple occasions, I have always been told it was "brokerage fees". It doesn't matter what forum I've been on the discussion of shipping anything over the border always leads to well deserved ripping on F'n UPS. I can't stand those A holes. Brokerage my ass! Fed Ex or USPS have always been good.
