Can't understand why they don't black out the heal guards ... I really like the blacked out look and the decals. If it was me I would black ceramic the header and pipes and get some cool carbon fiber cans. Then get smoked turn and tail lens.

Understated Elegance vs. Bling

Not a fan of matt/satin black paint schemes. It looks unfinished, like it's been sprayed in black primer ready for a top coat. High gloss black looks smart though when it's clean. JMO

So maybe a brocks ct with ceramic headers and pipe without ceramic coating the muffler so the CF tip shows well. Then maybe carrozzeria titanium Grey rims..... That could work.

I'd go with a CT Meg with ceramic coat right up to the muffler, smoked signals & tail lights, windscreen & find something in black or paint the heel guards.

I agree 100% with that, and I feel like the matte look is a fad that people like for now just because it's a change.

And, if you care, black bikes already draw less attention, and black in matte ... well, nobody's even gonna know you're there!

All that said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! And we're not all the same, of course.

Boring. It's like how much more black could it be? The answer is none...none more black.

I'm with ya. How bout a leftover 0-mile 2015 in black with green fins for $11,998 out the door in North Carolina? http://www.ebay.com/itm/141912689632

Same here. Drove all the way from FL, straight there to get the bike then home. Still a better deal than the all dealerships within hours of me would do, even factoring in IRS mileage rates and hotel.

Did they run out of paint at the factory and just use primer? Yuck!!!

I like black, but I don't like that, waaaay to boring! Did they forget the heel guards, or did they decide to add a "little" contrast.

It's not for me!

I just realized this is the first 14R paint job, if money was no object, I wouldn't want a copy of.

Nope. The mistake Kaw made was the rims on the 13 SE. I have this paint too. Trust me, put the a set of all black rims on there. Transforms that paintjob into perfection.

I like Kawasaki. But they need to dump the whole SE thing. It's fucking stupid, it's just another damn paint scheme nothing special about it.

I don't really care for it either

sometimes the flat black looks good, but it has to be accentuated/contrasted by some gloss here and there

So now I'm thinking since the 16 is really a Grey it would look good with some blue carrozzeria's.v

I get why Kaw put the rims they did on the bike. Red and White models had the black rims. Then the alum/black rims sort of work with the grey graphics. Still, with black rims somehow the whole thing just pops more. A few people here have put directional rim stickers on the alum/black rims and that really adds a lot imo, makes them pop a little more.

I didnt like the looks of the rims on the 16 se until I saw it in person. I have almost sold myself on a brocks ct quiet core so that will be my mod money for the year anyway after a flash, pcv, and maybe quickshifter, autotune module and pod 300 just because I am techy and like to see what I am doing. Would also like a steering damper. $$$$$

Oh and can I get that ceramic coated please!!!!

If I was stuck with that muted gray ZX, I'd add some of the 2014 black 14's red highlights (see pic), like red rim strips / markings, and I'd buy the red highlighted grills. And I'd either remove and paint the calipers red, or buy the OEM red ones.

I agree with the black heel guards, I plasti-dipped mine and it looks SOOOOO much better.

As for the color, I actually like it. I think it looks like a stealth fighter! but here in lies the issue... you really don't to be invisible on a bike.

On the + side, I think that just a little color would make it pop is such a cool way.
One the - side, have you ever touched one of black matte ones? you can see finger prints for days, and harder than hell to wipe off. I know a dealer in Ohio that prolly hates me for all the prints I left on one... once :-D

Had a 2016 SE for 3 weeks now and love the matte black. I was looking at the 2015 black w/ green fins, but hate the metallic. My 11 10R flat green is beautiful, but can't say metallic fits well

I'm definitely going to try plasti-dip on the heel protector and I have absolutely no idea why Kawi used silver bolts for the windscreen and a couple other places. Another big/cheap (nearly free) win is rubber frame plugs from eBay. Carbon exhaust up next...

Why is Kawi so obsessed with Matte paint?
