Sorry in advance... Quick exhaust question.
06/02/14 3:02 PM

I'll make this quick, like ripping off a band-aid. New (as of Saturday) 14R owner, but definitely not new to performance motorcycles or tuning.

Is the Brock's Single CT full system truly worth the obscene price upgrade over say the Yosh R77s? Has anyone actually installed and mapped both systems for optimum output?

I ask because a 2hp gain over slip-ons isn't worth $1,000. But a 10-15 hp gain is.

Thanks for your patience, and flame on!

If you want to find out everything about Brock's, go to zx1441r and get ahold of Lee Pritchard (smokinzx14). He'll give you a smoking deal on Brocks' products, too.

I may be way behind on my 14r info but a full system making only 2 hp more than slipons??

Recently heard the 14r header is superb and may just be better than aftermarket headers. I doubt it is lighter though. I'd go with what is lightest if the performance is at least as good as slipons.

Brocks is a full titanium system extremely light. I was ready to buy a CT Dual system from him but just to tight with money... knowing full well I have a 15k bike in my garage makes me sound like a lunatic :)

Rook - I've seen various systems on lots of bikes. They all yield different results. Often full systems don't deliver on the gains that we as enthusiasts expect. Especially for the money we spend.

yes, certain full systems are better for certain bikes but I have never heard many people claim that slipons were in the same league. Usually about +15-18hp with a good full system and maybe 3-5 with slipons. Now I am starting to hear people claim there is no real advantage to a full system header on some bikes because the OEM header was designed so well. The latest gen ZX-10, for example. Maybe Kawi is following suit with the 14r. I'd still pay up for the weight reduction of a full system because the OEM header is thick, heavy steel if it's anything like the gen1 14 header.

In round numbers, more or less. $15k for a new 14R with 180 HP, that's $83/HP. That's a much better deal than any after market exhaust.

I am not being critical, mind you, I have an after market exhaust on my 14R. I am just saying that chasing HP and counting $'s as a way to pick an exhaust system for such a powerful bike doesn't make sense to me.

I see what you're saying. My point is that an extra $1,000 is still $1,000, regardless of the initial price of ownership. I'm not going to pony that kind of dough up for anything short of a remarkable difference in power, when really I'm just buying something to replace the godawful stock cans and give me some sound.

Losing the fat of the bike going with a full titanium system alone is almost worth the price! Handling is already good but a 30# loss in weight is ridiculous in how much better and quicker she is through the corners!

Why not get a stainless steel Akro header...then add your Yoshi R77's?It's really worth it IMO.

Does that combo yield acceptable power gains while still being cost effective?

Given that I dyno'd 180 stock and 207 w full ct duals (with tuning) and ecu flash; I'd say that ABSOLUTELY the gains of a full system are more substantial than slip ons. 27 hp vs maybe 5-7 with just slips? The same day I dyno'd stock a guy made ~187 with two bro's slips and a wrapped header/pipes.

If you don't want to, or cant spend the money on the dual Ti system; the ct single (1800 msrp) is quite a bit less than the ct duals (2300 msrp) - then get an alien head 2 (1150 msrp). And contact a certain brocks dealer on here for a "smokin" deal.

Or get someone else's full system, or as also suggested; get the akrapovic header and whomever's slips you like.

And if you truly don't feel the full systems are worth the money; then at least spend the least amount you can on slip ons. Because other than sound and weight loss, they all perform about the same IMO.

Well fellas, I ended up finding a screaming deal on 1441.com for a Brocks titanium CT Meg full system. The can has a little rash on it, but for the price I can stomach taking the time to clean it up.

Thanks for the input and information. 200hp here I come!

Thanks. I'm just hoping it provides adequate cornering clearance. Everyone I've talked to says yes, but it sure looks like it sticks out a ways...

As you can see there will be zero issues with clearance. You'll be sliding down the highway by the time she comes in contact with the road.

(Sorry about the dirty bike, got caught in a few rainstorms on my way home from the dragstrip Saturday night and haven't gotten around to giving her a bath)

Nels with 2wheel Dynoworks is flashing my ECU on Thursday. He worked with Cblast in the development of the 14R flash, so I know I'm getting the best flash available.

Stock 14 r header weighs around 8.8 lbs....Akrapovic stainless headers weigh around 8... The only way to benefit with weight savings is full ti. And my setup now with dual delkevic 8" slipons and stock header weighs around 16 lbs, still lighter than akrapovic stainless single sided system with carbon can....is 5 more hp worth it...I don't know yet, with my reflash from Ivan the powerband is perfect...the Brock CT dual is a beauty though I love it
