Grn14,
Just like last year... Kawasaki announced the new bikes on Oct 5.. my 2011 z1000 was delivered Nov 17. They announced the new bikes this year on Oct 10.. first one delivers on Nov 23. It's like damn clock work. Gonna be a bunch of 14r's popping up all over the place now. Can't wait.
You will get the call real soon.

Black Rimsells it for me!
That is very-rings, the rings on the gauges, so pretty! See, I'm...
Let me take a second look.
You got a winner, seno!
That has me written all over it.
Let my two babies go? I'm going to have to think abouthis.
Down the road... Yep... There is one in box waiting with my name on it.
I'm in no rush. I'm going to [shit an wait] till those choppers are out of my hair. Gemme a couple of months.

Dyno Break-In.
+1 but screw the dyno. I had a straight stretch of 2 miles about 20 yards from the dealership. They thought I was nuts. I can't believe they don't see that all the time.
Here's the street level motoman breakin. 3 pulls to 3500 rpm in 1st gear, 1/4 throttle. Three pulls to 6000 in 2nd gear 1/2-2/3 throttle. Then 3 pulls to 11000 (or whatever your redline is), WOT. better do that in 3rd. Roll off quick and smooth after each run 100% decel.
Ride hard getting progressively more street friendly. Downshift a lot and use large throttle opennings. No babying for the next 200 miles. Give it a few WOT now and then but be smooth.
Have done the Motoman and by the book. Personally, I don't know there was much dif. Both bikes run strong. You do what gives you best peace of mind.

MAYBE...someone removed it...but isn't there(or wasn't there)a sticker on the dials telling you what to break her in at till 1000miles?Maybe they've done away with that...and now assume that ANYONE buying the new baby will already know how to ride?
In my limited knowledge of break-in procedures...I have a sneaking suspicion that the original 14's had that on there to protect the rider from going all out from the get-go until they had a few miles on her...time to get used to the feel and power and all..and I'm really not totally convinced that going a 1000 miles at the previous versions' recommendations actually did anything other than get the rider acquainted with his bike. They have already run the bike on a DYNO in Japan....to make sure EVERYTHING is doing what it's supposed to.Possibly even to redline...logging the peak HP and torque.So...IDK.You may just be able to ride her as if she's already ready for full service. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet.I broke mine in by the book...my 07...and NEVER EVER experienced one issue of engine noise or breakage in 51,000 mi.And I rode mine pretty agressively most of the time.
The 'problem' is...IF you do it 'by the book',and nothing ever breaks or whatever....you really CAN'T be positive that that technique really worked to help the motor.Only if it breaks and you didn't follow the mfg's recommendations, can you 'possibly' say...yeah...I did this and look what happened. It's a lot of money.Doing it some other way than what Kawi recommends could end up being costly.IDK.I guess you could buy one....break it in hard...straight out the gate..and see what happens in a few thousand miles?Don't know that I'd want to chance that just cause I wanted to see how fast and all she goes RIGHT NOW.Being patient MAY be the best way to go?Some guys say to do just that...hard fast break-in.Course...they don't say anything about how their baby's doing at say,10,000 miles or whatever. It would be interesting to see how many 'hard' break-ins actually did or did not survive over the long haul.I doubt a guy would be honest enough to say...I SCREWED UP...don't do it like I did.
She looks BADAZZ SENO...I couldn't possibly wait a week.No Way!That bike would be at my house as soon as they prepped it and all that.Wouldn't be no week!

I'm not going to rape it (maybe a little), but not going to baby it either. What scares the shit out of me is new tires!!!!! My last bike I broke in according to the recommendations and everyone who ever rode that bike said it ran really good.I have alot of wrenching to do but going to wait till I have a few shitty weather days...

I meant CA as in a California model with a vapor canister and California emissions. I would pass on one of those in NY. Actually, I bought a black/green 2011 ZX-14 in September and when I was picking it up I noticed it was a California model. Good thing I passed on it because now I'm looking for a 14R.
Does the U.S. 14R come with the immobilizer anti-theft device?

, I didn't mean to turn your thread into a break-in debate, Seno.
I know a couple guys here don't believe me... but my '06 was broke-in as per the owners manual, to the letter, and threw a rod..., So for my '08, I broke it in using Brock's recomendations... Basically, run it hard, change the oil, and let it cool (heat cycle it) a few times.
You do what gives you best peace of mind.
