I moved up to the faster intermediate group(they have two), mostly because the slower intermediate group was full of guys(and gals) that should have been in novice. Looking at my times it was obvious they were slowing me WAY down like 7-11 seconds a lap. I like being one of the slower guys in the group because I learn a LOT more and nobody is holding me back but myself!

I didn't see any fluid or parts on the track-just someone was down.

Yeah, I didn't slick up the track or anything, just parked my bike right in the middle of the track... First day out there, a guy did 3 laps leaking oil the whole time. Took an hour and a half to get cleaned up. He didn't make any friends that day. lol

Two intermediate groups? How do they split up the sessions (time wise)?

Can't say I like being one of the slow guys in the group, but better than dodging pylons fer sure.

They do sessions for twenty minutes rotating from novice, street B, street A, then race.

OH....I'm not near the slowest in the street A group, more like as fast or faster than 2/3 of them. Besides, you can learn a lot more from following a faster rider than dodging anchors....

Man... Must be a lot of riders out there. 4 groups doing 20 minute sessions kinda limits your track time, but gotta be better than too many riders on the track @ the same time.

Might have my novice license as early as June.

Bad boy rep? Nah... 90% of the expert level guys either currently race or used to. Every one of them I've talked to says they quit counting crashes long ago.

I didn't have intensions of getting my license... but after 2 crashes now, I realize that I need instruction sooner rather than later... and the 200 level school I'm going to take on the 24th counts as the on track portion of the NRS (new racer school). Will put me one 4 hour classroom session from getting it. Might as well, eh?

I got lucky, Lin-z loves hanging out @ the track... only problem now is, she is getting the bug and wants to get out there herself... $$$... Thinking I need to just start "volunteering" with the providers for track time... Maybe just start my own Org.

When this thing materialize all bets are off

That track looks bad ass!!!... So coming to visit.

If you get life insurance they may ask if you rock climb, hang glide , race.....etc...

right now I consider what I do to be instructional. I just as soon let the whole matter lay. Ins co might be a whole lot less flexible in their interp. Just sayin. Ask the big guys what they do about this. Insurance is a life time and screwing with policies when you are old is not what you want to do if you can avoid it.

^^^ Good point, I had not thought of, Rook. ^^^

I know a few of the local racers are agents and offer policies for racers, but not sure of costs.

I picked up "life flight" insurance before my first track day. $70 a year covers a household. Did not even know it excisted until I starting paying close attention to what other junkies were talking about.

Pretty sure my ex-wife still is the beneficiary of a 1/4 mil policy on me... sure hope that one excludes racing.

before you know it she won't have time to make you those "samich" anymore, she will be too busy getting in the zone lol

yep, they're talking having concerts, maybe a couple of restaurant and a hospital (the first place I'm going to apply to when I graduate). I'll be able to keep all my gear there and jump on the track before or after a shift lol

I see there are no other bikes. That could only mean one of two things, they are way behind or way in front.

His lap times were just a little slower than this guy:

Actually, dude is an expert level racer and was flyin'!
Has a good sense of humor too... After teching the bike, he hopped on it to take it back to his pit and said, "Holy shit this thing is heavy. It needs reverse." To which I responded, "You shoulda bought a gen 1." Only to get, "Why? Did that one come with reverse?" thrown back at me.

BTW, he races a Ninja 250... Heavy was a realatize statement... Talked to him quite a bit about the 14r... His review of the bike mimicked DK's almost word for word. Said a stock gen 1 feels like it has a flat front tire in comparison.

these bikes are getting crazy. All of them are. I'm all for it! My cash doesn't flow quick enough to keep pace but that just means I'll have to wait and take a short cut. I think 2015 will be the year. An old track bike be good for me and something that is within the realm of possibility.

How long is the straight at the ridge? Nothing like bringing a 1400 cc bike to crash a liter party! lol

J is looking good! What was he waiting for?: his suit and boots look broken in!

Ask him if he would be willing to share his footage from the ridge... I need a newbie perspective of a track day. You guys just go too fast! lol

Little over a half mile... 0.58, IIRC. 14r never got passed on the straight... Wish I coulda saw how it did on the back section.

I'm uploading his first and fifth sessions to youtube now... but it's taking forever. Old GoPro was driving me nuts, so I broke down and picked a new(ish) one... Now the upload time is drivibng me nuts!

Yeah that and the fact that recording time last only 1h 45 min!!!!
Try to film in R1 or R2, it uploads faster

BTW: The first two sessions for novice, the riders were not allowed to pass the Marshals... and the Marshals set the pace SLOW, as you can see.

2 sessions at that place can be frustrating but I'm sure it would set you up for a good third session.

My boots should be in today! I'm going to see if I can do back to back track days next month. what about gas? do you bring your own or buy it there?
