Wow! Holy crap Stevie! Glad everyone is okay and the girls weren't hurt!!!!! I don't know what is this pinlock? Now I am irritated because I asked the helmet 'expert' about any other options or accessories for the helmet. Never heard about pinlock?

Ya, it was pretty freaky...look out the window and I think, why can I see the bikes? WTF? Where did the tent go? More like a box kite....

No worries CBlast, Pinlock is a system that attaches to the visor. Your visor may be compatible, if not you will just need to get another visor for the helmet. Look for two small holes, or plugs just in front of the hinge point.

http://www.pinlock.nl/en/

Basically it is a secondary visor that sits inside of your visor creating a thermal buffer to inhibit fogging, kinda thingy...

Only thing that has worked for me....so what is the knobbie bike in the back?

I don't have a pin lock, and the only time I fog is while standing still during intense cold/hot vice versa...Not sure I'd bother, but theoretically it sounds excellento!

Nice to see another brother from the nation rocking the mirrors, that's how I role homies...

When you're standing you can just flip up the visor....more for rain and early/late in season, probably not pristine 14 weather, agreed.

and no....I wasn't sleeping...working today....

as you can see...

almost time for lunch...

I have never before worn a helmet with a mirrored visor. Always been smoked or clear. Noticed something yesterday, rode in rain, sun, and dark, and no need to change it out. Not once! :)) excellent! It provides fine shade in the sun but isn't so dark that at night I even noticed it. Usually I have to switch to my clear screen just to get the road impressions.

Hey c how do you like the 14r compared to the 1098. Now I know the 1198 had more power and tq but how does the 14r compare to the duc?? And after reading your post im going out to get a mirrored visor also. I hate changing out at night.

Now granted you still have that big old ugly exhaust on, but once that gets off I imagine you can compare it even more to the ducati. Even though how you have them painted in that pic looks pretty dam good!!

Yeah thanks ZX! If I had to give my impressions I should tell ya about the 1098! :) 162 rwhp, 90 ft.lbs. 386 lbs with a little gas in the tank. :))) suspension, done, wheels, done. Brakes, done. I don't know what's stock. The list is shorter. :)) I have her set up stiff! Headwork and cams etc., by Mike Velasco. I did 90 % of the work myself. She is a corner speed beast, between 7-11000 rpm she will bite! Now that I think about it, it's probably why I am so all about setup etc. I learned my habits and my penchant for precision by making that duc turn corners at a track like a monster. She is my cornering teacher. That's said, for anything other than all out blitzing, she is a bitch. Head temps run in the 220's+•f! Uncomfortable. So uncomfortable that I need a half hour break after every tank of gas and she only holds 4 gallons! :)) the 14 is ten times better a bike to live with. But that duc is like a light saber. Maybe a dark saber... Darth Desmo! ;)) now that I own a 14r I could never ever live without one. That is the only bike I have ever said that about!!! The 14 is faster more comfortable, looks stunning, and handles very very very well for a big bike when set up right. The new tires have improved my opinion of the 14 even more. Shoulda come with a 190/55. And the michelins grip helps that TC work much more seamlessly.

I just came back from my first ride really trying to get it a little on the street with my new tires! :) let me clarify, in my neck of the woods that means hitting the twistys here on the kitsap peninsula. ZX, this bike really overall makes my duc feel like a brick. It is engineered wayyyy better, fit and finish is about equal and yet the 14 is so much more refined in every way! Suspension action can be firm and responsive as well as compliant. I get amazing feedback from the front end with that 190/55 on the back! The 14R is just another level of refinement and composure at high speed or in the twistys. I know you find it hard to believe this big girl can dance tight with them big ole cans on there, but I have no problem grinding the toes of my riding boots while my foot is on the peg in the 'shift' position. I have the front set stiff with only 4.5 lines of preload showing. The rear stiff as well, almost 1.7 turns in from stock. With a little more weight on my wrists, I think she transitions just as quickly as the duc. That is saying something. What it boils down to in medium tight transitions with the 14r is its low polar moment of inertia. The chassis does not resist change like some bikes do due to the position of the center of gravity relative to steering axis. They got this fucking bike right!!!!! It won't corner near at the same overall velocity around a curve as the duc. Of course. I don't say that cause its obvious. But she does transition insanely well for a bike with this much power!!! That's what this bike does in spades, it gives me torquey drive out of corners that I am fing addicted to! It's wayyyyyy faster than that ole duc on any place but a track and also more comfortable quiet refined flawless!!!! And POWER! The way the 14R makes power in such a torquey heady slam you in the back rush that it just makes everything else seem slow to me now. I banged off a twisty road with about 70 corners and only three cars, then grabbed all of fifth till the limiter, during only a medium straight! :))) For me, there just is no other bike like this.

Thanks again C. But that's my MAJOR problem her in new jersey, its like florida I have really NO twistys at all here. That's why my bike is stretched a lil so at least I can race other bikes with my gearing and exhaust and keep all that power on the ground. I hate where I live for bikes. EVERYONE here that rides says the samething. My stretched 14r keeps up with everyone here in the corners because there are really just long sweepers at BEST,and only a few within an hour or two ride. See I really want to get the new bmw or the zx10 because of my size, but it would be such a waste around here. And as I get older the comfort of the 14r feels great. I just wish we had corners here instead of flat farm land. Because in that case I would have another bike,a bmw 1000rr probably. Because at 5'10 170 I would kill it with that bike. But don't get me wrong the new 14R has been my best bike yet. It's so bad here I laugh at the other threads about tuning in your suspension because even with my bike lowered and stretched around here I swear when I say I never noticed it after I picked it up. I went around the same bends just fine with the other bikes, and this was the first lowered or stretched bike I every even sat on. Oh well can't do anything about it.

Racer is it mad cash to stretch the 14 r out. I've always wondered what this mod costs? C, Ontario is flat and straight, you have to ride "out" to see some twisty roads, and even then there are few, few places. It's basically one big concrete dragstrip.

Yap I'm 6' 3, 230 and my boy Beast is 5'11 and 175 ish (he is on a 2010 14) and I can barely keep pace with em. 14r,vas 14r with a lighter rider and I am done!

Your dead on wolf. Don't get me wrong a better rider on the 14r should still win hands down,BUT lighter weight guys like me on a slighty worked and set up 14R for racing, are very very hard to beat on this bike!!!!!!

Ya know what guys, this hit me when I was watching the other gentlemans suspension vid. It was twenty minutes of flat riding. That has probably been the source of the disconnect we had zx. I didn't understand your riding environment and I was therefore putting everything you said in the wrong context. For that sir, I apologize. Now that I understand what it's about where you ride, I can understand much better your point of view. I ride my suspension so hard that I can literally tell the difference when I adjust my front rebound by only 1 click. I spend 60% of every ride at some kinda lean. That's a lot on the street. I have an iPhone app that recorded that shit so I know and get to review my rides and see where I bitched up on corner entry. I not only understand, I can see how that kinda riding is fun too! I have three straights on the way to my stomping grounds and when free and clear, those three straights amount to 6 hard as I can 1/2 mile drags against myself. Every ride. See why I tear through oil? :)) I only have 1000 miles on this silkolene and its shot too! :)) time for an oil change! :)))
