Put a TRE on it and get rid of the anchor in the first 3 gears. You will need a Gipro if you like to know what gear you're in because the TRE fools the ECU into thinking it's in 6th all the time (except neutral). And then hold on when you wind it out-the front will come right up on it's own.

The short of it is, rich happens upon lift. The power went from FULL to a 'save the engine' the ECU does in a: backuplan. Lets for argument sake so you can see the transition, the backup causes the ignition curve to change from 2,000rpm to full advance at 2,001rpm. So when Danno says to hold on, here comes the "Twitch" is what I like to call it.

However, slow me where this [lift = rich] helps in stopped traffic, idling? It does nothing for idling purposes, i.e. cooling purposes.

WATTS missing is the long version.

If the machine runs lean at idle, it runs hotter. If a machine is runnin with a correct amount of a/f (ie:little more fuel), it runs cooler. Why? Because it has more fuel entering the combustion chamber than it did when set up lean. Could it be heated up by adding ignition. Yes. But no one adds ignition at idle. It should always be a smooth transitional thing in the map.

If you want to give Amsoil a shot, I'm a preferred customer and get damn near dealer cost on it. On my Husky, it gave me a pretty dramatic improvement in shifting.

You're right down the street for me. I'd be happy to order some up for you.

Did dual fans work in cooling the R sitting in some hot ambient where I live? No.
Did the aftmark fan really cool things off sitting? No.
Did the oil cool things down waiting to move? No.
Did the water swap change a thing when the day is nice and hot? Not.

Did you stimulate the economy with the reach around? Yes.
Could you work the night shift and avoid traffic and heat of the day? Yes.
After all that, are you going to jump in the lake with everyone else or just wait to start moving again like I do? ________ Fill in the blank.

Now that was funny Hub. I would say stimulating the economy is a good thing......Not sure I am crazy about the reach around idea. :)

Jesse, I am on a fresh oil change but may take you up on that offer next oil change.......much appreciated.

This was tame. I had another one I deleted and you would have roared like I did. It is more a Reach in the back pocket for the wallet. No other connotation added to that. I'm on my 3rd 14 and I've seen a stack of hot bars on the rise, but never a rise so high, the gasket blew out farther than the fairing and me without a teabag and a hotcup.

There has to be some here that equal or surpass mine. It's interesting to see how they execute the next improvement of the product line. Subtle things not mentioned in the brochures.

You all remember how Kawasaki fixed the hot running issue on the 2nd year GPZ900 right?
They put a resistor in the wiring so the gauge read lower. I shit you not.

^^I was gonna say, maybe the reason they have a bar meter instead of a temp gauge with numbers is because people would freak if they saw how hot the motor was running on a fairly regular basis.

SIDENOTE: GOD I love the heat comming off my 14 on a cool, overcast Spring day. Feels so good!

I can't offer any help because I haven't noticed any shifting issues related to heat.
Mine seems to shift well at all temps. I live in So. Cal and it gets pretty hot but no issues.
I personally don't believe in the coolant additives. I do mix the coolant at something closer to "55%" coolant. I've seen slightly lower temps on everything I've owned by using slightly more coolant in the mixture. I keep the level right at or not much below the "full" line.
I ceramic coated my header. Can't say there's a "night and day" difference but I don't notice what I would call excessive heat coming out. I coated it mainly because the factory finish looks like hell after a short time. It does figure to help though since you have an extra layer there, inside and out?
Never tried an extra fan but that should move more air you would assume.
One other thing, I notice many riders (any bike) have there idle rpm's set higher than I think is needed. I like something about 1,100 rpm's (based on what my tach' says). Seems to me many riders have there's set higher. That just makes more heat, wastes gas and brake material.
