Mine has had the bang from day one, some 36k miles ago. The bang does seem a bit worse when hot but I've got used to it and certainly don't faff about stopping/starting the engine at lights! Every Kawasaki I've had has done it to an extent going back to the 1000RX in 1986. The sweetest box I've ever had on any bike was the GSXR1100 in 1990. I had a TSX250 years ago and the change was also really slick. I've had a couple of R1's with clunky boxes but not as bad as the 14. The box on the 14 is strong and positive and that is the main factor as far as I'm concerned so I just ignore the clunkiness.
