Iwear what fits is the main reason, I went with a Shoei RF1000 because they said it was less noisey than most on the forums . It is better but it also fits my big head which is as important beause if you cannot wear it more than a hour what good is it ???

Lost in TX and I dont want to be found ,
2012Yamaha Tenere 1200 for really wandering off the beaten path
2005 GL1800 Sold to another to enjoy
2006 ST1300 Gone but not forgotten
2009 ZX14 Also gone and will be replaced someday
some of the best of both worlds

I believe there is only 2 or 3 red 14's in PE, so I have seen him around but haven't met. Post a picture or two of your brakpan lion if you have the time please.

Lol, That is the Helmet wife wears. Dog how did you know, hmmmmm. Light weight.

How's the quality compare to your Shoei's? I've been tempted to order one.

And the weight? What's a Shoei weigh?

Looks like the scale is reading 3lbs 2.8 oz----If I'm correct on that, I doubt a Shoei (or most other lids) will be over 4 lbs.

Dog, quality is there but the shape is long. Kinda looks like something you would see in Alein versus Predator. What I mean by this, if you wanted to scratch your chin there is Nooo issue, Lots of room lol.

I would think at high speed sit up and turn your head to look at your buddy there may be a wind drag issue and hard on the neck but I'm just guessing. The helmet won't fit me or I would have tried it out.

Like posted above, I too rate my helmets at speed, not in the store. Quite often the 2 don't match and when you find out you have been taken it hurts the wallet and most won't admit to the blunder or don't know any better. That was me and I paid dearly, more than once.

Wife absolutely Loves her light weight helmet and she not much into our high speed antics so it is perfect 4 her and that price 150 = wow. I also bought it from New Enough last year.

Guys one of the members posted a link last year to a new technology in helmets, Inside with some type of gell with a much higher safety rating. I have looked on line for it but no luck. It was worth a look.

^^^I bet you mean to say "the X-12". I don't think Shoei called the new helmet RF -unless they just came out with something new?

Arai Vortec. Best fitting/feeling helmet I've ever worn. Every other helmet I've had, I've had to spoon the s**t out of it to kill pressure points. But the Arai was perfect from the first time I put it on.
Little noisey, yes. But I get an unlimited supply of foam earplugs free from work, so not a problem at all.

I always rode in Shoei lids. Tried Arai, Suommy, Bell etc. and just never liked any of them as much.
Had a couple of rf-1000 and a few X-11s and never had issues of any kind,
including holding up well in major wrecks at the track.

Switched last year to the newer generation- now I have a rf-1100 (mostly a back up helmet)
and two X-12s.

This so happens to be my very favorite helmet so far, the Glory scheme X-12

And with the rf-1100 I bought early in 2010, I think the scheme was called Artifact

So Mass... I have a perfectly good X-Eleven... Worth spending the $$$ to pick up an X-Twelve?

If I do, will my shields for my X-Eleven work on the X-Twelve?

The SHOEI x-12 takes a CW-1 visor.

I switched from the x-11 to the x-12 just because I couldn't resist the temptation of
riding in the new top shelf helmet. Sold two of my decent used x-11s to a friend of mine and another one on ebay.

As Romans mentioned- the shields on the newer models are no go on the older gens,
much different in shape actually.

The other 12 I have is in the Martyr graphics, I'll try to get a pic in here of it.

2nd. Ride 2 mins behind a tractor trailer while turning your head left and right and you will C ,,, or at 100 + mph looking for your riding buddy. How this helmet works in the wind is truly amazing. Could be lees noisy but can't have everything. It would seem more vents = more noise. Still,,, love it.
