To all the Floridian zx14 owners that keep bragging and teasing about the year round riding season and such:

this is the 2nd time I bring my bike down here and this is also the 2nd time I notice how the bike is down on power due to the very humid warm air that it breathes. It's not a little bit- there's a huge difference in both midrange and top end.

Try a 14 at sea level in mid 50s fall season dry air and you'll never mention anything good about FL riding again!

Not to mention how much better pro football is in New England...

Mass, you need to ride out here in Az this time of year, same scenario no humidity and great temps for making power.

I don't notice a huge dif at 50 F but at 40, the bike is stronger when you open it up. Those are the times I really feel like it might wheelie hitting third gear close to WOT.

Rock salt all over the damn place in Milwaukee. The roads are white with powdered salt and its heaped up on the corners at intersections. Meqoun, where people have more sense, the roads are smooth and black but I don't dare ride across 10 miles of salt to get there. I guess that was last ride two weeks ago.

Same in Boston- a few inches of snow since last night.

3rd day for me at South Beach with temps in the 80s and perfect water for swimming...
not sure I ever want to leave.

from no snow to this!!! this is close to my place... winds so strong they drifted snow like over 5 feet in some areas!!! To think I rode my motorcycle bout 2 weeks ago!! Hopefully spring comes early!!! We are lucky in Southern Alberta we get Chinooks, its a western flow where the temps soar up from -20C to above 0C and sometimes into the dbl + digits, sometimes for a week and all of the snow melts!!! Get a couple of days riding in and then it snows again and back down to -20C!!! I guess it happens in Montana too maybe Blue07 can relate!! heres the Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinook_wind

Instead of mods to my bike I will be developing our basement this winter to keep my mind off of riding!!! We were thinking of hitting a US warm destination in Jan or Feb.... I was thinking either Vegas, San Diego, LA, or over to Miami or Orlando... also thought of New York (not for the warmth!!) if we go somewhere warm I will def be renting a bike one day and cruisin around, maybe even a dreaded Harley!!!! A vrod of course!!! (the only Harley I wud own!!!)

I took her out one last time today and did about 40 miles. 28 degrees F. A little cool on my neck but otherwise bearable. I hit the high note a couple times (imagine sticking a duck call on an air compressor). Had my rear tire skitter a little in a corner. What a weird feeling.

Hi Fuzz4141 and all

I am also in Calgary, my Golden retriever dog is refusing to go outside even to pee......she hangs on until she is about to burst, then runs outside trying to keep all four paws off the cold ground at the same time, does her business and runs frantically back inside. I live on the west edge of the city, fabulous panoramic mountain view with the winds howling straight at me from the mountains with no wind break, -45 C windchills, ridiculous snow drifts.

Fuzz4141, State Farm is charging me $780 per year for my ZX 14, full coverage, low deductible, but I am 55 with four motorcycles insured with them, as well as home/business/cars/trucks etc. also insured with them......My State Farm agent is a friend, he knows I will be trying to break 200 + mph on the ZX 14 at Bonneville next summer, not sure what that might do to my insurance premiums

Hey Paul!! I don't blame her not wantin to go out!!! $780 that is cheap!!!! I just got another quote thru Primmum of $1680.00, you wud think with the driving courses I have taken, clean record or claims they cud do better.... have been licenced for 14yrs ridiculous!!! Plus you only ride the friggin thing maybe 4 months out of the year!!! My truck is insured to the tits and I only pay $700 a year on a $45,000 truck!!!! We will have to get out for a ride in the Spring Paul.... Wud you mind if I gave your friend a call for a quote??? My policy is up in Jan.....

At 9 am yesterday morning in downtown Boston my car termometer was showing 11F and
I saw a kid on a white R6, a guy on a small cc green cruiser and two cops on Harleys.

I'm soft, I gave up once we dipped under 50F

The only thing stopping me is the Ice.Otherwise-temps don't matter "too much" now-got some nice heated clothing.VERY COMFY!Think the lowest I've been able to get out in is around 5 degrees F.That's a pretty good windchill at 70,80+ mph.But that was before the snow and ice actually dropped by to say-"yer done bud".

Holy smokes blue, I dont have the stones to ride my scooters if it's below 35. I guess as I keep getting older I'm turning into a little girl.

Hey Cut...I'm 56-I'm either getting dumber or losing my sense of feel!.Not true(well, maybe the dumber part)-when I get chilled-it takes some time before I can feel "normal" again.Tried riding in these low temps before I got a few heated items(jacket liner and gloves)It got so cold my hands stopped feeling-nothin-just numb.Couldn't feel the levers or anything-just plain dangerous.I'd get home and have to lay in bed with like full clothing on and 3 or 4 blankets-basically put the kaibosh on the rest of the day.I could only take about an hour or two-I was done!.The heated stuff REALLY changed all that.Just the gloves alone let me function normally for several hours.I "think" there comes a point-even if there's not ice and such-where trying to ride is a disaster waiting to happen.Tires can only handle so much.Emergency braking could be deadly ya know? But still-it's a blast to be out there where there's not traffic and all-cruisin and runnin the canyons pretty much alone.Bike runnin awesome in the low temps.Very cool.

Here in Maryland, we got close to two feet of snow yesterday. I ran a whole tank of gas out of the big snowblower doing the sidewalks and driveway (we are on a corner with full sidewalks) around 8:00 a.m. Saturday and it almost leveled out again by midnight.

I'm about to go and clear it again, its 8:30 a.m. Sunday and at least the snow stopped falling and the sun it out.

My 08 is up on the rear stand in the back of the garage with the cowling completely off. Waiting for the fender elminator and hugger, and wiring up the new horns. Saving my money for an LSL handlebar conversion and some other stuff.

All the cowling on the floor will get boxed up and replaced by the carbon fiber pieces in boxes beside the bike. Upper, upper side, lower side, foremans, tail, tank cover.
