Lurking?... Grn's back... and you know he tuned in to this thread... I challenged you to a race! Isn't me challenging Grn what pushed him over the edge in the first place?

Yeah but you and Kruz don't ride or even tested the ZX-14R... that's why you don't get it lol hehehehe
Drag, you've swapped sides on us, gone over to the enemies camp, weren't you the one that started the "Two Reasons Not to Buy a ZX-14R" thread..lol!
Now that the Panigale has turned out to be mediocre at best and the mighty BMW has been toppled in a 9 bike liter shootout by a five year old Honda CBR1000RR, that argument has lost some of it's merit.
Everything is hype these days, all smoke and mirrors.

Grn is already here Hub, I have felt a disturbance in the force, it's like millions of voices were crying out ...and then silence!
Grn is in training Hub...... boot camp...... think Rocky Balboa type stuff here. He's coming back greener, leaner, meaner, fitter and much faster.

I'm sad the Panigale didn't turn out to be what it was supposed to. It's a shame, she still looks good as ever though!
About the Beemer, I've gotta go with the Euros, at least the Bloke from England. The power : improved mid range and better geometry should put it back as numero uno! I think the ergos could be better and I didn't like the midrange but then I'm 6'5 and ride a 14... IMO the steering was as good as the ZX-10 or at least really close. I never rode a Blade but just sitting on it inspire confidence, it's also a highly popular model so I'm not surprised everybody is going fast on it. You take a look at WSBK, the Blade is in the top 5 but the Beemer is walking all over it. It's easier to go fast on the Blade but the Beemer has more potential I think.
P.S. BMW is having all kind of rebate, They are even doing $750 off in celebration of their 1 and 2

From what I'm hearing Drag, the Panigale frameless design is too stiff just like the Ducati GP12. Same issue, they need a load path with a little more give to it to make the suspension work right when cranked over on it's side. Look at how poorly it placed in Motorcycle USA's Shootout. They do have a lot of power now but still didn't beat the ZX-10R and it's freaky-peaky power, not linear like the 10R and Beemer.
I for one am glad that Honda didn't throw out the Fireblade. They have found a formula that works for a wide range of riders and can still kick butt at the very highest levels of competition. Look at McGuiness' win in the IOM Senior TT for proof. Still able to win Literbike Shootouts as well.

Yeah they need to give up on that chassis.
As a track or racing weapon the Blade is more than able. It will be interesting to see how they will improve it. If they never make the switch to TC or offer it as an option, I'd be ok with it. I heard the 2008 burn a lot of oil though. What year is best?

2012, better suspension but lost a few ponies. Looks way better IMHO also, went back to the '07 styling and ditched the dustbin nose fairing. '08 and '09 were oil burners, best to stay away.

Funny story: we were on 30 plus ride and this guy who was riding a 2012 was talking to this other guy... They were talking about why the Hondas burned oil etc etc. There is this guy who has an 08 who starts to take part in the conversation saying he hasn't had a problem. 5 min later they go check his bike and the oil is low lol
Better suspension, yes and no. The 2012 guy had to change his rear shock. He does track days and told me that when it gets hot, the shock gets all mushy! I won't buy new if I gotta upgrade parts right away.

yep, I just re-read the Fast Bikes test on it and they did mention the Sachs shock offering no damping etc, etc
Are we talking about the Honda or the BMW here Drag? The Beemer has the Sachs shock out back, the CBR has the Showa Balance Free rear shock.
My '07 CBR has superb suspension, out of all my bikes I would rate it the best for balancing chassis pitch control against bump compliance, very composed.
My ZX-10R is handling very poorly right now, front end feels pattery or chattery when cornering hard, kind of spooky. I think it's the OEM front tire is getting worn out and ZX-10s are notorious for instability when the front tire goes South. The Honda doesn't care if the front tire is worn, the HESD steering damper keeps things under control. I can't understand why Kawasaki is the only major manufacturer left that doesn't have an electronic steering dampener, it makes a huge difference.
BTW, that white ZX looks badazzz, very nice! I hope that cops don't start riding those, that would look sick with a police package on it.

me too. B/W is already the scheme I have for the 14 but that 10 looks very unique. COOL

I can't see the po riding a Austin Racing exhaust but still, sign me up for the academy pronto. I'd love to chase down some speeders on that thing. You all get unlimited free passes in Milwaukee!!! (just make sure you don't let me catch you too easy)

Are you changing the color on your 14? What about the blue rims?
Everything is all the same. White stripes. I consider Midnight Sapphire Blue to be black. Can you believe I am still sitting looking at the rims?? Gotta get those on. Have the blue chain adjusters too. After that, would like to pick up a Dynotune NOS. Then the 14 is done. Maybe get a progressive controller if I get serious enough.

Just got the July edition of RoadRacing World with their nine bike Literbike Shootout, BMW won in a split decision over the GSXR1000, came down to the Beemer setting a slightly faster lap time. The Honda was third, Panigale in sixth and ZX-10R dead last. They blew the motor on the 10 on the opening lap and couldn't source a replacement from Kawasaki in time to finish so it scored a zero in almost every category. I was pissed, KHI was robbed, the 10R beat the Beemer in last years RRW Shootout and took first place.

None of the major Shootouts have been consistent except the BMW is always a top contender. Goes back to what we said earlier, all these bikes are good, it's become an exercise in hair splitting!

That's why I will be giving the beemer a second look! We can argue till we turn blue but the bike is a game changer! Always finishing in the top three in shootouts even when there are exotic bikes around! It did what the GXSR-1000 did in its heydays. Plus have you seen the price of the new 10R? I think I read 15k and I don't think it comes with a quick shifter. Plus I couldn't ride it with -1 up front. Too much $$ for a bike that I wouldn't be able to leave alone. I need to test ride the CBR 1000 and the RC8 then I would weight them against the Beemer and will be able to choose my track bike.

Well, you can't go wrong with the Beemer and it does exude a certain amount of class. From what I've been able to gleen, the BMW is fastest on the track in stock trim.... in the hands of the fastest riders but.... there are better choices for the less talented.
Modified, any of these bikes can be made to go fast, you can't lose with any of them.
And that was my point, you probably are not going to be able to go far wrong with any of these bikes, even the RC8 has lots going for it, exclusivity being one advantage. I've seen a few BMWs around and even a Panigale on the freeway Saturday morning but never an RC8. I think that thing looks cool and the sound of that V-twin mill has to be awesome.
ZX-10R for $15,000, you're joking right?
