I hate to see that. I know how it feels.
My brand new Z1000 also rolled off the kickstand as I was closing the garage door.
Makes you want to scream bloody murder at the top of your lungs. Been there, done that......life goes on and you'll have it back, better than ever..........Learn from it and move on.........How else can you look at it?
Sorry to hear about your uncle's passing, and happy belated birthday.

omega2k, sorry to hear about the damage, $3k sounds about right, the upper cowl is almost $500 by itself, a couple of hundred bucks for the engine cover, bar end weight, windscreen, clutch lever, etc. Plus the shop charges labor (probably @ $100-$150/hr for some retarded reason) and they use new everything, new bolts, new well nuts, new washers... all of this stuff adds up in a real hurry.
This should be a good lesson for everyone about cost savings... Lets say its $1,000 for a garage door opener installed, still a lot less then fixing this. Or if you already have one, look into the mini remotes for your garage door opener, I found one for mine it was around $45 and I have it on the key to my bike so I don't ever get off of her when I'm heading out or coming back from a ride.

LOL nice way to put it Wolf.
I have 40.11 on mine as of today. Although sometimes I feel like I have the miles of an old KE-1! <-- old Kawi ref here :)
Just like some bike there are those of us who actually do get used more than others haha so in short Actual Mileage may very...

Omega2k, the brand I have for my garage door opener is a Lift Master, although I'm sure these are available for other brands, I'd recommend take a picture of the back of your garage door motor (or at least make a note of the colour of the button... seriously), the model number of the motor and take in one of the remotes to a shop. They should be able to match it up and sell you another remote.
The one that I have is very similar to this one:

"installation" is really easy, usually it just involves holding the learning button on the back of the motor until the light blinks, then press the button on the remote until the door opens/closes and I think you either have to hit the learn button again or do nothing and you're done.

Omega,
I feel your pain......sorry about your uncle and belated Happy Birthday!!! As a fellow candy surf blue owner, I know I'd be all fucked up if I dropped it in the garage....but I think I'd rather drop it there than around a bunch of cagers, that kind of damage might not clean up.
Regards, John

Thanks again guys.
Also just heard from the insurance guy and the shop (Vista Kawasaki in Dayton... Great people, family business). $3600 total. I thought the shop was estimating high, but the adjuster was higher! I must have sounded like a Despicable Me minion.. Whaaaa!?
Good news is that they expect me to have it back early next week... go Vista!!
Also they dug my add-on Bar ends and windscreen spikes so much they setup an account with Coremoto.com and will be providing those as well. One less thing for me to worry about.
Ok C, it's your turn bro, what's the word on the word on the screens there boss? NOW NOW <-- cornholio voice
