I hate taking the body work off for some reason. It seems to have layers upon layers of plastic bits everywhere. I really want to torque my header nutz but I know to do that I have to take about 7-10 pieces off the bike just to do a ten second bit of work. hehe lazy

^^^You can get on all of the header nuts using a Loooooooong extension and a universal flex attachmant on 1/4" drive ratchet. G othrough the triangle hole to reach the middle ones. Reach from below chin to get the others.

I thnk my extension was a 14" I can go check if you want to know the exact thing that works for me. 1'4" drive is the only thing that will have a thin enough extension to fit so do not bother with a larger ratchet.

Whip & Sit {up]. Time it... Time it... Sit UP! An aggressive WOT at the cable. That get up [to speed] here is some more and more and more I have to lift! I'm on their ass as I coast up to their rear; no brake stab. It's all about timing.

My favorite downhill is coming up. I look down at the speedo, I'm hooking corners at 110mph, as if I can hook it even faster and I slam more gas at the next sweeper... As if it were nothing for this stable beast.

Read the thread title!

+1 and just a little opinion to share with those of us who want to go easy on the 14 and not rev it too hard: my bike was never ridden so hsard as those 25-30 miles iput on at the track. WOT and high rpm downshifts over and over. NoW she runs even stronger.

SO DON"T BE AFRAID TO BEAT ON YOUR 14 A LITTLE BIT!! ....at least every now and then.

Just to add something to this thread... I went to the Kawasaki demo days this past weekend and tried two bikes. The Z1000 and the ZX-10R. Keep in mind that I went from a ZX-6R (636) to the 14. I first rode the Z1000. The upright riding position was a bit strange. I felt like a grandpa out on his vespa for a spin to the market. Seriously, after riding the 14 for the past few months the Z1000 really felt like one of those scooters you rent while on an island vacation. I did have a little fun with it though. I somehow got away from the Kawi ride leaders and pulled off a few clutch up wheelies. The Z1000 was VERY VERY easy to wheelie. I guess due to the upright position. It felt very smooth in comparison to the violent 14. I guess I was just expecting a bit more power from the Z1000. Later in the day I got the ride the ZX-10R. This ride was quite a bit better but still somewhat anemic. I had it WOT several times and yawned wondering when I'd get up to speed. I did feel at ease leaning through the corners and getting on the throttle. Its so light and easy to move about. But I still missed the kick ass thrust of the 14. I dont think I will ever give that up. Over all I think I eventually want a ZX-10 for a track bike but I will never give up the 14. I think the Zx-10 will be more fun in the twisties but I crave that raw violent acceleration of the 14. I found it funny how I used to think that my 636 was so fast. Now a liter bike feels like a toy. To say it simply, "THIS BIKE IS THE BEST!"

Keep in mind that I went from a ZX-6R (636) to the 14.

retsam! I think I outdid you on this 1... I went from riding scooters when I was 16 and bought the 14 last year, 14 years after my last experience on two wheels. A friend of mine had bought a zx 9 that summer and convinced me I should get a bike. So after some research on the internet I had a crush on the 1198 ducati corse, but thought she could never take the pounding of 6 5-230 lbs guy... too fragile, then it was on to the hayabusa, man I thought I loved that bike, almost u hauled to new mexico to pick up that all black falcon, the aggressive looks and the reputation had me sold, the fastest bird in the world which would descend from the sky to prey on powerless victims. Then, 1 day I was at my local dealer looking at a warrior (for some reason I thought those kinda bikes would suit me better)and trying to find a confortable position on it, I remember talking about forward controls and blablabla. I was getting really frustrated so decided to pick on the sales guy by asking about something I knew he didn't have... so I said Can I look at a hayabusa? he answered: oh, we just got a used 1 in! It was a 99 or 2000 her heydays were gone, her plastic has lost its shine a long time ago, she had numerous scratches, the only she had kept over the year was her aggressive looks, you could tell that at the drop of a hat she could take you where only a handful of man had been. So I sat on her and thought she was too low, reached for the handle bar and didn't like my position so after seeing that the sales guy told me he had something better, something I had never heard of before a zx 14 She felt so comfy I thought she would be lacking in power, but my research confirmed what the dealer had told me : with the hayabusa she would go toe to toe. The night before I took her home I watched a how to ride a motorcycle video on your tube lool, this girl on the way home almost overtook me: I'm no sexist she was jogging loool. A month later I enrolled into a motorcycle class and within 1 year I was able to take sweepers at 95 mph not bad for a newbie but then again this bike is so stable, so easy to ride so smooth... simply the BEST

This thread is so timely.... I found myself saying those exact words out loud under my helmet last week after a wicked rip on an old favorite highway.... I will never give this bike up...no comparison for raw power, handling and comfort.

Wear earphones and ear the front brake discsheeeeeeeeeeeeeeshing. Cool sound! Wear earphones and hear that clutch pump air-pump. Cool sound! Triple downshift and you do not know you did that being, 'at one with'; the bike.

You can't really go fast on this bike like you want. So you take your line and stay in lane [watch only the windshield] to see the rest of the road go bye.

You can't really take the other lane because you are more locked down in your own land and that is even tighter a challenge and slower. And I always stand down for the other car so the next turn up ahead is there once again.

You have to respect this throttle like it can bite you without a moments notice. It says I want to be ridden this way... Lots of smoothing. Bone stock. Has flies in operation. No mods but the 'iat' test.

You own one of these, it says you are lonely at the top.

You release spool and let them run out from the hull kind of hullass as you reel them in again.

You see product thru my eyes. I take you for a ride is why you need to read that title once a grin.

You get off that seat you smell like GRIN! Lettuce The Goo Times Hull!

I needed to be somewhere early in the morning. I left somewhat early so as to time in the appointment. Morning LA traffic and all that. Other bikes were splitting lanes. I used the diamond lane and kept on wasting time, practicing my balance. I'm really out of shape, but lets get back to the best...

... As the water table climbed to all blocks, not once did she start the fan. I kept feet up an slow crawled this well balanced machine to the bitter end. I ran the clock down, proceeded to split lanes now. If you want insta-grunt, this is the spitter away from one fender to the next.

On the way home, I took a cough-cough where I must have missed shifts about 3 times and one was just one big POUND ~ GRIND-Gring RATTLE-rattle!; I pulled the clutch in and said, do I still have a gearbox? In she went. I stabbed down about two times, and romped it back up to blow a gear out of its doggie door... Nope. Nada. Like it was nothing. Shifts like the first day I owned it.

Well, not true, but I think, wink-wink, mother teapot addressed that issue? As if I'll change my upshifts ~ No clutch? Then, I'll blow the same box out with the R... No joy! This bike is 'this side of bulletproof."

I think the only gears I have ever missed was 2nd and maybe 3rd. Shifting fast under heavy accelleration. Let the clutch go, hit the gas and WINNNGG!!! in some sorta false N. By that time, the motor and transmission are so outta sync they are sure to grind or do something bad if you pop it in. I think it may be ok, if stopping is unsafe, you roll along a few seconds at 0 throttle, then pull the clutch and pop it in on the roll. I rather not experiment with that so I just pull off and get it back to 1st.

Butt (), like I said, only happened a few times. Mine shifts no problem as fast I can move the toe pedal. Just a good idea to not be passive with the foot. She might just go wingggg!! on ya.

this guy didn't have much trouble regardless...

No doubt, the best bike I have owned and I've owned a few. I used to work for Yamaha, and then Ducati, KTM and Triumph and I wouldn't trade my ZX for any of them. Beautiful....
