Yes, Romans, but street riders are not going to be pro roadracers.

Just like 99% of high school baseball players will never be pro baseball players.

So your argument that learning to wheelie in traffic is a legitmate trainging goal is ludicrous.

If its valid, then learning to rob banks is legitmate and leads to being a pro bank robber, because both are illegal.

I'm with BG, all that stuff is simply the idiotic actions of riders who otherwise might live to retire some day, but if they keep it up, they'll either be in a wheelchair for life or dead.

Not my opinion, the demographics and mortality studies of no less than organizations like the California Highway Patrol and so forth all lead one to this conclusion.

But I'm a constitutional conservative, so sort of a libertarian without crazy ideas about foreign policy and energy, so my deep personal belief is, if you want to do it, do it, and be prepared for the consequences.

No need to argue ?

Big twist of idea's

Yes, Romans, but street riders are not going to be pro roadracers.

Not ??? big word. Street is mostly likely where allot of these guys found love for their sport. And you know obeying the laws was not of the highest priorities during that time in the learning curve. The pros had to start some where. Yes ?

so my deep personal belief is, if you want to do it, do it, and be prepared for the consequences.

2nd, cost can be high, as seen in the video above.

^^^^ ahhh what is that movie dragking sent me....the IOM documentary.....watch it. That quiet blond guy who won in two (or was it all 3) races then had a serious crash in some minor racing event.....that guy admitted to being a serious outlaw back in the day.

Yes, street has to be where we (they)learn cuz they will kick you out of the track if you try to ride like that.

It might have been on a Z-50 ,,, but it all starts somewhere. If these guys above did not wipe out this thread might be different.

I want to see people going nuts.. Yes, I know it endangers others as well as the hooligans but tis is something I really would like to see more of. I'll take the risk. Come fly by me on one wheel, I'll cheer you on!! There aren't that many people who are gonna do this stuff. I don't see it becoming a serious problem like drunk drivers on a Saturday night. The drunks don't keep me off the streets and a bunch of hooliganistic kids won't either. I just think they should gear up to make the inevitable falls safer.

I do not like being told what to do. No burnouts, wheelies etc unless I feel like it. LMAO Correct motivation does help.

Last person that asked me to do a burnout was stunned when I asked how much money they had. Told him it wasn't enough, and he wasn't my type. Little shit got mad as hell. I rode away laughing so hard almost not able to go in a straight line

Most guys think because she is big and Fat you can't wheelie on the 14 but let me tell you, Big torque gives sweet engine brake,,, makes it easy,,,,, Bikes are to have fun on,,,,,,Sooo,,,,

I agree with bg.....idiots. I can see a little show like Rook posted or similar, but full blown, higher speed wheelies and stunts? There's a time and place for that stuff and those videos ain't the time and place.
If there's any chance other users of the road can be involved then it's stupid. Hard enough to get from point A to point B nowadays with so much traffic and poor drivers. The road isn't their personal stunt/racetrack. These types help form negative public opinions about motorcycles in general and contribute to the extra attention we often get from the police.
Flip your stupid ass anywhere near me and I'll keep on going. The street's safer without you.

The premise a world champion MotoGP rider learned to race on the street is pretty silly, not to mention wrong in most cases.

Of course, you can find an exception to anything anyone says about anything.

Most of them began in the dirt, with dirt bikes, or on the track with go-carts as kids.

And most world-class motorcycle racers would NEVER consider doing a wheelie at 50 mph on a public highway as anything remotely interesting to do.

You don't think Casey Stoner thinks these kids in the video are complete and utter losers?

Let's face it. Doing all those things on the T-shirt just brings more heat and regulations on us.
We all know how bad some people out there would like to stop us from changing our exhausts. We keep giving them reasons and they'll pass stricter laws at some point. That would suck to have to leave the typically ugly exhaust on our bikes.
We have helmet laws because those same people are so concerned about our safety. Right. Riding like this continues to increase. Injuries and damages will increase. So will unwanted attention and then more restrictions and laws. Just the way it is. What they do to themselves is no concern of mine. But their stupidity effects others just trying to enjoy a ride.
Case in point: My friends and I like to cruise maybe 5-10 mph above the speed limit. When it's safe, we'll open it up here and there. We know the roads and what we can get away with. No stunts, etc. Near my home there's a place called the Rock Store. Very popular, famous in fact. Lots of twisties to get there. The idiots go there too and that's why the cops hide out here and there. No other reason, just for the idiots. Some days the pickings aren't doing well for a cop so he gets bored and starts looking for ANYONE to write up. Our group comes by and doesn't see the cop in time. Most likely we're doing 50 in a 40 zone or something and if we're lucky only the lead rider gets pulled over. The cops themselves have told us they wouldn't be there in the first place but because of all the accidents and deaths due to high speeds and reckless riding, pressure is placed on them to stop it. So when it's "slow" out there we all get nailed and you can thank these idiots for your citation and maybe even worse if the cop doesn't like your exhaust, mini-signals, etc.

IF I had the confidence to loft my 14 like those guys do...I would seriously invest in an oil sump mod...and go for it!I love the feel of my bike lifting...it's exhilerating.Staying on one wheel...or shifting...I couldn't probably 'get into' that all that much...but a nice long lift...yep.I just don't have the skills to do it...but I'd like to.One reason I enjoyed the KTRC as I did...it would (usually) stop a prolonged wheely well before it got out of hand(for me).But knowing it would 'gently' lower the front back down...that was a real help for me to feel comfortable enough to at least give er a go.It IS about fun on these bikes.I won't stop lofting with my new one either....no way.I can see why these guys get a thrill out of it.I don't think it's 'crazy wrong' to ride like that....particularly...the fast ass racing between cars though...yeah...now that's not okay for me personally.

These guys are riding in big groups...they crash...you know...that's bad...but they're really not endangering anyone else but their buds there...and they all accept it.I see nothing wrong with it as it is.

I don't own a horse...this is the next best deal IMO...raise that head up there baby! Now roll....I feel very close to my bike when I'm riding. It always feels alive to me.I actually forget it's metal and plastic and oil and such.Always been like that with the 14.These bikes are just great....probably why I 'gush like a schoolgirl' about mine sometimes. It really doesn't feel like some machine. Not to me anyway.Hell...I'm 59....I missed all the stuff those guys are doing growing up.Just the way it was.I say...go..have fun...be careful...but have fun.Someone asks me what kind of bike I ride...they're stunned..."you ride a WHAT?"....yup...that's right...couldn't ride anything else...not now.I'm really missing my GreenBird...soon....

Private I know you were on the debate team. If not you should have been lol

I always knew this thread could go side ways. I just want to say this to all the haters out there,,, wheelies can be allot of fun. I promise. Not as Negative as all this sounds.

My dad always explained the dangers, as I Always explained how much fun I was having lol. The war never ended. Fact is no one was wrong. All up to the individual. I find the Positive he finds the Negative. So the debate lives today.

I grew up riding one wheel, on anything and everything, still do. I'm 46 years old now and still love it. Sad to here(of all places), I'm a Idiot, but ,,,,, every one has a opinion.

Romes....why shouldn't you wheelie...and this thread isn't going south IMO.It's showing the different mindsets of fellow riders...14's or not.I can't get behind Privateer's ideas...I feel very differently about riding...my riding...my reasons.I don't see the harm in doing what those guys are doing....considering the circumstances as I said. There's no cages in that group...and anyone driving a cage behind em are for sure gonna be paying attention!.The ones up front...certainly not gonna affect them(the cages). So it is what it is...and they're having fun.No prob with it.

Take my advice...some of it anyway....go out and wheelie whenever ya feel like it...for whatever reason. You won't be able to do it forever...but you aint no dummy...neither is Rook or most of the guys here.Getting woohoo sometimes is the best medicine. For whatever ya need...at least you're not drugging and drinking and driving....and thrill killing and all the other shit that people find to do to make their lives 'complete'.You know what's right and what's wrong...and when. Not everyone can fit that category...but you do.I get it.I'm getting too 'old' to do some of it now...but I get it.Go and have fun...wish I could ride yer turbo. Now that would be a lifetime memory....something very different from the mundane..so go for it..all of ya...go for it.

I especially like the part where the guys doing circles in the intersection! Now THAT's way cool!!!!!!!If no one can't get a boost outta that....they're probably dead.I'd be diggin it if it were happening in front of me sittin at a light.;)

Privateer assumed...."And most world-class motorcycle racers would NEVER consider doing a wheelie at 50 mph on a public highway as anything remotely interesting to do"...I am curious just HOW he can make this statement...have you ASKED any world class riders lately Priv?.

For some strange reason...I just can't see Rossi tellin some kid at a light.."screw you dumbass...I aint wheeliying for you"....not that he SHOULD do it...but I can't see him NOT doing it.

Hell...I've done it cruisin down the road and a pickup come up next to me all hyped about the bike and all...givin me the wheely sign there...yup....I've downshifted and popped her up....why not?People are excited about these bikes...why shouldn't I give em a little demo...

I've offered cops to ride my bike when I got stopped...why not? They can see it's a badass cycle straight out,and NOT yer ordinary 'bike'.You know they'd LOVE to.(well...the ones I've been stopped by anyway;)

And I've sometimes just given a thumbs up to a passing cage that wanted me to wheely....no biggie.People DO like looking at these big birds....they really do.Not yer typical chromed out Cruiser. It hits something inside of em I think...like it did us...only we went for it.It always gets me in a good way when some older couple comes up at a gas station stop and starts asking about the bike....I just think that's very cool.Maybe they rode years before....maybe it brings back memories for em...talking to a guy(my age) whose not all garbed out in "harley" style chaps and all.

All ages..they just seem to really get drawn to the big ninja.Like we were.

Hope I'm not being thrown in with the "haters" group as mentioned.
Wheelies and stunts are impressive...hell, I wish I could control a bike like that. Still wouldn't do it on my '07, what with the frame issue.
My point is it's not always done in a group that's supposedly by themselves and can't effect others. If they take each other out like bowling pins then oh well. But even when they're seperated from others the general public still sees it. That goes straight to the police. Just saying enough negative input into the wrong ears and we all slowly but surely get regulated more and more until we lose things important to us. More important than doing stunts. We're already regulated and more is coming. I don't want unwanted attention. I don't want to be assumed to be a trouble maker and pulled over because they didn't like the size of my signals or the sound of the exhaust. This whole thing fits into the classic "give 'em enough rope..."
