Of course, long distance to me and my Concours 14 is 3 days in a row of 8 hours a day and then riding places every day for a week at the destination and then 3 days back home. Thats taking it easy, could do 2 days of 10-12 hours each but don't want to.

Or riding all the way from Mt. Snow VT to Hagerstown MD in one day stopping for gas and lunch.

Or riding from Hagerstown to Deals Gap Resort in 2 days because we don't feel like riding 12 hours to do it in one day. But we could, no problem. We just don't like putting in daybreak to sunset days.

4 hours is an ice cream ride for me. Heh.

Any ride where you need to carry a change of underwear is long distance. I have left here at 6 a.m., met a friend for breakfast 80 miles from here, went riding and came home at 2 p.m. with over 400 miles on the clock. But that's 'spirited' riding, not long distance. To me, a long-distance ride involves at least one overnight stay.

Mt. Snow VT to western Maryland was one day, and it was long-distance. It was 600 miles in 8-1/2 hours give a few or take a few minutes.

Almost all of my long distance rides have spirited riding in them. Otherwise they would often be a full day shorter if I slabbed it.

Even going to Arkansas this summer, I'm not going to slab it until I get on 79W which is actually not bad as slab goes, and has actual curves in it. LOL. And even then, I get it off it for the bluegrass parkways (two seperate ones which connect) and they are quite scenic.

Put a gentle exercise routine on your agenda. Some walking, knee bends, flexibility routines. Get your body in good shape and more flexible and it will be better on rides.
