As Hub said, STOP loading up the bike with heavy throttle and no rpm's. Its hard on parts, bearings, etc. and no real reason to do it.
Hell, I'd say its harder on the motor to do that trying to stay below the "recommended break in" 4-6K rpm, than it is to use light throttle and have the rev's above 6K seat the rings better.
NOW, I'm not saying run the piss outta it; but varying the rpm's at light throttle (15-40%?) wont break the darned thing. Gradually use the lower gears to run the rpm's higher and higher until you feel comfortable running it at 6-8K rpm's. Then start using heavier and more throttle to run it harder and use more rpm... on acceleration AND then let it decelerate. A few hundred more miles and there you go; engine's broken in. change the oil a time or two in that 500 miles and your good.
I did that exact thing on the ride home from the dealer, around 50 miles and then on the next couple rides until I had 250-300 miles on it. Changed the oil, then ran it a bit harder until about 700, and then it was game on.
ALSO on any road that was steady cruise constant throttle (freeway) I was ALWAYS shifting up and down through the gears 3-6. That way even if my speed was the same, I was using more and more rpm to break in the rings.
PS glad it was just some bad gas.
