With my 08 I played around with the flies in and out, with a PC III on a dyno and custom tuning to them in or out, also later with timing changed as well (advanced).
This is a flies in flies out comparison, each custom tuned. In my opinion not much difference. What I noticed was that it made the throttle very twitchy in 1st and 2nd, when going through curves, and with the fine smoothness of the throttle gone, that felt too uncomfortable/unpredictable for me when santing to start roll-ons in a turn. After a number of times putting them back in and out, retunning, adjusting timing as a set of experiments also.. they are in and have stayed there. I initially mistook that initial throttle in the butt bump for a noticeably more TQ, but that was not the case. I believe the secondaries are in and working well on the 08, with redesigned TB's, which give more TQ than the 06's, flies in, and maintain fine throttle control.
The red line is flies out, advanced 4 deg!
To me that suggests that the timing is about spot on, OEM, for this bike.
