So, I got a tankslapper total protection kit. http://www.thetankslapper.biz/
Some pieces don't work. They're the wrong shape. Part of the tank top pieces don't have cutouts for the Kawi emblems.
They sent the kit rolled up, wrapped in some foam, USPS. USPS, being who they are, smashed both ends of the roll. So, the film for the seat cover is crinkled up on the edges. I don't know if it'll smooth out properly.
I also discovered that my ass isn't fat enough to get this bike up on the Pitbull stand. My feet were off of the ground and the bike still woudn't budge. It is also a two person job. I can't hold the bike up and line the stand up with the spools at the same time. I just can't see under there.

The crinkled up tail piece seemed to smooth out ok. The tank top pieces that aren't cut for the emblems are probably geared toward people that strip those off. Once you cut them out for the emblems, there's so little material left, you might as well not put them on. I may still give it a shot, though. They'll be good for protecting against hang-fisted refuelings. :)

Loving it so far!
The tankslapper film was a flop. What pieces I got on there started peeling up, either from the wind, the heat of the sun, or my knee catching the edge of it.
I stripped it all off and got Stomp Grip on there and called it a day.
I think I'm going to go with RKA soft bags instead of the Givi/rack setup. The Givi setup requires too much bike modification for my liking. Seems like a lot of hassle for the 1-2 trips a year I'd take.
I am worried about protecting the paint from soft bags. I think I'll just use some painters tape and hope for the best.

Turned over 500 miles today (519 to be exact) and can go up a little in the RPM range. Took the bike for its maiden voyage through some local curves. Man, I forgot how much fun that is.
Did my 600 mi. maintenance a little ahead of schedule, since I had a little free time tonight. Still can't believe dealers push so hard for you to pay them so much money to do it for you. I have yet to pay someone else to do it.

Yep, we get the cowl. I'm not using mine because I commute with a messenger bag and I don't want the bag rubbing on it.
I'm getting better at the rear stand. I just put my hand on the rear seat and balance it that way. Not that it's really hard to do; just makes me nervous.
