I lived in the Houston area '80-'90 and I deffinately lost my Yankee endurance to the cold back then. Guess it's all relevant.

My May trip to the Dragons Tail has me wishing I lived in that area...bikers paradise IMO....absolutely beautiful country with great mountain twisties with winters not too bad. I'd have to do some homework to decide whether to live in TN or NC, but somewhere close to the Smokies.

Kind of scanned through thread. My pilot powers seem to do alright in low temps. One of the reasons I keep putting them on the bike. Does take a few to warmup, but seem to be fairly quick. Hated the Dunlops, Bridgestones, and any I do not remember. Michelin, and Pirelli have done well. I know folks swear by the Dunlops, but I have never liked them.

Heard a rumor that Michelin owns Pirelli or vice-versa. No idea if true or not.

Just a different opinion on Pilot Road 2 tires in specific and multi-compound tires in general (haven't used the PR3s yet, soon)...

I find them to have very good traction in cooler temperatures. Towards the end of last riding season I was riding home from the legion riders meetings in the mountains and it was cool enough I had to wear leather with quilt liners, and my waterproof insulated gloves. I was actually wishing I had heated liners on.

She handled perfectly every time.

Also, I have run my PR2s in chill of rainstorms quite a few times, and they never lost traction or anything like bad handling.

I have a hard time getting motivated in lower 40s even with heated liner and gloves. Depends on how sunny and clear it is out. Or how long since my last ride.

scottjkyl we just had a light dusting of snow. It didn't really stick, but its much colder this morning.

I need it to warm up a tad and clear off for next weekend, so I can ride my ZX14 over to the dealer.

Before I change my mind....

I know, right? Days are flying by, before we know it it will be daylight when we go to work and then the temperature will start to creep up.

I'm in danger of getting as enthusiastic and excited as Grn14 just for diffent reasons. Not only is this coming season of riding going to so many new, far away places, but I'll be doing it on a brand new C14 with much better ergos and wind protection envelope.

Sometimes its all I can do to contain myself wanting the cold to go away....

Weatherman was wrong..... again, 34 F here for the high with 21 mph winds. No thanks, forecast says 70 by Wednesday, I can wait. Hoping this is the last winter blast.

I don't know if the warm weather members can relate but it is no exageration to say that shorts and a tank top feel comfortable outside when it warms up to 40 F.

I have nothing but good experience with the Q2's it's winter here and I've ridden into work on several low 30 degree mornings and had no issues on the curvy back roads I take to work. They do take just a little longer to warm up but not much and thats expected though.
