There was a SWB class and in the semi-finals there were two 14s and one zx10. It was very cool to beat out the suzukis. During qualifications I beat another 14R that had a nitrous kit installed. Needless to say that was considered an upset! I lost later on in the semis when I forgot to replace my CO2 cartridge that powers my air shifter and the 1-2 shift didn't happen. I can foot shift just as fast, but when your expecting the button to do the job you bounce off the limiter and lose way too much time. I lost on a mechanical technicality and it hurt. Had him by half a bike when that limiter came on too.... O well... I ran a personal best that day and the bike actually back halved a true 30 MPH. Trapped 155 to 156 all day. O yeah and I got a bad ass photo of me laying down the law. Check out that clutch hand doing its thing. Sliiiiiiddeee on out there baby... Smooth as butter..

I'm almost ready to do a dyno session and tune for MR12. My local engine builder/dyno guy has seen up to 10 horsepower gains from the stuff. I'm not posting up tickets just yet but lets just say there isn't ANY member here that has posted one quicker at stock wheelbase. *cough *cough :)

Ahhh, good ole slidell. Going to hell in a handbasket. I'm about to get the heck out of dodge. Let me know if you're ever in the area again and need directions or a short ride or anything. If you're not familiar with the landscape already.

You know that is an interesting question... I never truly found anything wrong. It's almost as if the bike just had a slump and came out of it. I don't think that it's mechanically possible for a powerplant to just... "not be in a good mood"... but that's sure what it felt like. I know that it's not atmospheric conditions as I've raced in conditions that were almost identical. Maybe the motor needed to break in a bit more? Maybe my motor was a wee bit tight from the factory? I won't know for sure until I take it back to my local track and try to replicate what I did in Baton Rouge. All I know is that fat girl was digging on the big end. I don't know how much you guys dig into drag racing but a true 30 MPH gain from 1/8 to 1/4 is almost unheard of on a stock motor bike. That is... I accelerated to 125 MPH in 660' and pushed on to 155 mph by the 1320'. Also keep in mind that I'm 170lbs UNSUITED, which translates to around 185 or more in full leather and gear. Now.. Having said all of that I did have a very strange occurrence one night at the track. I made an average 1/4 pass and after I crossed the traps I closed the throttle. I quickly noticed that the bike was still pulling a tad and not engine braking as it should. I forced the throttle to the closed position and it settled down a bit. As I pulled up to the time ticket booth the bike was trying to idle around 2500. To shorten this story up the foam piece that seals the air filter had been sucked off the plastic filter body and down into #4 throttle body. The foam was preventing the primary throttle blades from completely closing. I also discovered that; for me at least, the bike pulls so much harder with the secondary flies REMOVED. Even with a flash that opens them sooner I simply can't get ALL the power that I need to accelerate with the utmost aggression. I lost a full tenth with the flies in. True story.

Mav from what I've seen and the people I've talked, and these are drag racers. They have removed the secondary flys .Ive had mine out as soon as I could pull them. It does make a diffrence on the low end throttle response. Add in a quick turn throttle and its wicked off the bottom. I did 2 seasons on my 06 zx10 at the drags before I went road racing. Had the same issue off the bottom. Works even better with a flash. Talk to lee prichard he...the 2-3hp they say you loose on top has nothing do to with the torque . You loose nothing there.
Im about the same weight as you. I just couldnt get my 60' low enough. I was doing 1.7-1.8 60' and still running 10.01 -10.2 @ 145 - 150 on my 06 zx10.... hoping to see what i can do on the zx14 this summer.

Geez Mav and Casper this is good stuff why are you burying it on page 2 of a jacket thread? Mav you should start a new post on your day at the track.

Because its top secret and if you know what's good for you you'll keep it that way see?
Na I don't usually get much response in the drag forum but I can start posting some threads in here on the R board.
My personal best 60' is a 1.50 at short wheelbase. I used to cut consistent 1.44s on my little 600RR with extensions. Fun little bike.

I say post where you please. Put some stuff up on the r board. I don't think there's a lot of drag racers on this site, I've never tried drag racing but I find it interesting to read about for sure. It's way better than reading about spiked fucking bolts to hold my windscreen on, and that's been on the R board more than once.
