With the ECU flash the bike doesn't cut fuel as completely on deceleration. Combined with an open exhaust to amplify the sound, more fuel in the pipe means more pops, burbles and flames.
Plugging the air line simply prevents the fuel that makes it into the exhaust from combusting properly.
But seriously... Who doesn't like 6' of fire and popping from their exhaust? Are you a bunch of fucking hippies?
