Nice!.....beautiful bikes..whattaya think about the Aprilla V4....the 'Corsa'?

Thanks ... My Aprilia is a V-twin 2002 "Falco". Love the sound it makes, and of course it's handling in the twisties.

I've ridden a V4 Aprilia Tuono, fast bike, but I'm just not a big fan of naked bikes at high speed due to the wind blast.

I fabricated pannier racks and a top rack for touring and plan to do the same for the ZX14R.

Well...I guess I got the wrong model...it was the one with the four pipes exiting under the tail.Not the naked one.OOPS!Now I can't find any pics of it.....I think there's one on this forum somewhere that I posted quite a while ago....grey...with a greyhound decal on the side.

Just looked on their website....apparently,they're not making that four piped bike anymore....pity really...it was a beaut!Full fairing...very nice.

The only 4 pipe undertail I know of is the MV Agusta F4. Bellissimo !!
The Moto Guzzi Corsa was a twin undertail... also a beauty.

Yes...THAT's the one...sorry...thought it was an Aprilla...my bad!Any idea how that Agusta rides or handles?Are they riding that in the TT and stuff?Mostly I see Suzi's and ...Hondas and such...(I think they're Hondas)hell...IDK.

Some times it gets 0 here not very often.The garage doesn't get that cold.Even if it gets moisture in the oil I'll change it in the spring after I warm it up.

That'll work.First time I saw condensation in the sightglass...shit....I'm thinkin...WThell?Now she's blown a head gasket?LOL!I stopped starting her after that.It was pretty funky lookin.

But from what I've seen at my local dealer, a battery tender costs as much as a new battery!

A battery tender is one of the best accessory purchases I've ever made.

GIven the $$$ I've spent on these two bikes, (the new ZX and also a new KX450) I was thinking of seeing if the little woman would agree to storing them in the house over the winter. Didn't want to take any chances, given how cold it gets here some winters.

Kidding, but not really. It now sounds like a good idea the more I think about it. I could use an extra room we have, assuming I can get em through the doorways.

I 'tried' keepin my Harley in the house one year....I had to fashion this ramp to get up into the house....it was a trailer house...so ya know what kind of ramp I made....angled pretty good....had to get a runnin start to get up the damn thing.700+ lb bike....anyway..the first time I took er up...I gassed it pretty good...there wasn't anything to stop her from goin all the way over if ya stopped or something goin up.Okay...so I got up the ramp...onto the flat spot that was about 5 feet long into the front room.BLAM...hear this sound like a gun goin off as I passed through the doorway.WTF?
Got her inside...barely stopped her in time from hittin the other inside wall....looked her over good to see what the heck that noise was.Turned out...she was TOO WIDE for the door.Snapped the clutch lever clean off hittin the door frame!If my finger would have been right there...it would have been gone baby!Geez.That wasn't the only 'episode' gettin that bike in and out of that 'house'.Stopped doing it after about 3 weeks.Sheesh...talk about hassle.Plain dangerous as well.

That front entrance...a good 4 feet high...with the steps in front.So that was a pretty good incline with that ramp.The neighbors musta thought..."okay...here he goes...lets see if he dumps it THIS time"....would have been a real scene,tell ya that.

I ride 365 days a year so I can’t help you with storage but if anyone doest feel like storing there bike for the winter feel free to bring your bike down here to south Florida and I will ride the $H!T out of it for you!!!LOL

Maybe you can work that into a service to where you can earn extra cash over the winter months. Sort of like a dog walking service.

Broke out the electric clothes yesterday. I have a Gerbing setup - jacket liner on one rheostat and socks/gloves on the other. They obviously won't help with snow and ice. However, I've ridden comfortably into the mid-30s with just half power on the gear. Although pricey, it can certainly let you ride more days a year, and it comes with a lifetime guarantee. I really like riding when it gets colder - no bugs and less riders to pass.

The little woman won't agree to house storage, so. I guess I'll have to keep the bikes in the room that is built on one end of the garage. Its not quite as cold in that room as it is in the garage, and that room will keep them pretty dry, I think. No direct exposure to the cold or wind either, as they will be in an enclosed room, whereas in the garage, when the garage door opens, in comes the weather.

After conflicting views, I just read the owner's manual on storage. It has several points you should do to the bike before storage, so I guess I'll follow that. Thanks for all the suggestions.

You know...I just wonder...if a guy bought one brand new....and did everything according to the manual.I mean...services...everything...Break-in.The whole nine yards.....for the life of the bike(following replacement part schedules and such as well)....I wonder just how long and well this bike would be doing?

Well the manual says to take it to the dealer which I never do unless it is a recall LOL ! my service plan has worked for over 30 years with hardly any problems ! Seriously though, do you guys take your bike to the dealer ? I dont trust them, though I am sure there are some good dealer mechanics out there

I don't...unless it's a valve check....other than that...I think I've done just about every maintenance deal with the 14...aside from replacing bearings.(or engine stuff).

THe main thing the manual says that differs from the suggestions on here is that the manual says to drain the fuel and run the bike til it dies and get all the fuel out. I assume they don't want any old gas sitting in the injectors, lines, tank, anywhere. Run er dry..........til she dies.

Whereas some of you, (and even the younger parts guy at the dealership) says to put additive in a full tank of gas.

Yep....that's a good one alright.I don't know if that would be so good for the fuel pump and all...especially since that big azz empty tank would most likely be prone to condensation over an extended time frame.I wouldn't...unless I stored it somewhere with some sort of heating around the bike.A full tank and additive won't allow any stuff to accumulate inside the tank walls.Once she's got a nice mix of additive in her veins...it should keep any gum deposits out of the internals....?????IF you run her for several minutes.

I haven't worked bikes in years, and then it was only dirt bikes. The modern fuel injected machines I am clueless with.

So after considering what the manual said, I decided to call the dealership where I got the bikes and spoke to the best mechanic there. He suggested all that needs to be done is clean it before hand......fill the tank after putting in stabilizer, and put a tender on the battery.

So that's good enough for me, seeing as how this guy really knows his stuff, as some of you guys obviously do, as well.

I will also keep the two bikes in the enclosed room where they won't be exposed to extreme cold or wind, and in that room there are no windows. Get both wheels off the floor, as well.

Gonna ride again this weekend, if not more beyond that, so the storage will probably be only be about 4.5 months, as I'll break it out again mid march at the latest, hell or high water.

I can get a battery tender jr for $18.I'm taking the battery out laying it on some wood then hook it up.Got a full tank with fuel stabilizer.It's suppose to help with ethenol fuel.loosen my chain and lube it.Put it on both stands and it sits until March.Take the battery cover off,the bottom ferrings and the front fender and the chain guard.Replace it all with CF parts.Change the oil and clean the air filter in the spring.
