I was comparing the Scorpian 1000 to the Shoei RF1100 today. The Shoei feels just the slightest bit lighter. The Scorpian seemed to fit me snugger and that built in smoke visor that drops down behind the clear face sheild is awesome. Nice face sheild lock and shield opening system, looks great and they are fairly inexpensive. I bet the Shoei is really quiet.

I checked out the Scorpion and was very impressed with fit, quality, features and price. In the end I picked up another Shoei (RF1000) that was on sale at Cyclegear for 242.00. The Shoei fits me best of all the brands and one of its greater qualities is that it is incredibly quite. Another issue for me was that I have a collection of Shoei shields, so that made the Shoei decision even stronger. Here is a picture of my latest lid;

^^^ very cool but BIG $$$$And not worth it,,,,,,,, sorry slipped out. Not really happy with it. The helmet on the left is a X-11 liked it better. The RF1000 was my Fav. I should have kept it.
I love the tail fin on the x-12 and the overall shape but I don't want to payy all they are asking for that. The RF-1100 has eneough of a tail and the price is a little more reasonable.
What did you feel was not to your liking about the X-12?

No laughing, ok!
The first time I wore the the helmet I heard a siren, or I thought it was I siren so I pulled over (da). The noise was coming from inside the helmet. The helmet had a whistle or a scream and every time I turned my head the sound would change sounded like fire truck or a police Car.
Now I'm pissed off. I went all over this helmet and all I could figure out was that SHOEI did not counter sink the air vent holes, so they whistle. But my head is cool ?
Shoei spent lots of time giving us vents for air flow maybe some time to stop the whistles would not have hurt. After all this is there flag ship helmet.
I have since put over 5000k on with this helmet and it's getting allot better and most of the whistles have stopped. Maybe dead bugs have taken the edge off the holes lol.
Maybe this sounds like whining, but I paid 953(Canada,all about the bum, prob 300 there)for this helmet and for it to be noisy was something I did not bargain for and was very disappointed. Grrrrrrr.
That's my only complaint, but it's a biggggggy.
On the plus side the X-12 has the best high speed manners of any helmet I have ever worn, but you don't necessarily have to be going high speed to appreciate the helmets design. Spend 10 minutes behind a 18 wheeler at 60 mph to waiting to pass and this helmet earn your love (Sweeeeet). Still the price is Chunky

Thanks, Rom. My Icon Domain has huge scoop-like vents and it made the siren noise quite often when new. That stopped after 2 years but the rumble of wind in the vents is as loud as ever. So you pulled over because you thought you heard a cop, hey? Same thing happened to me but now I wear earplugs because of the wind noise and the exhaust. I don't pull over until I see the lights--a cop siren right behind me will not be heard on the open road. True story --happened yesterday--cop headed for an emergency had to pass ME (doing 90-100)and I never heard him 'til he was on my side in the right lane. He looked a little pissed. Well, anyway, I think your siren noise will fade away completely in time.
Looks like the X-11, RF1000 and X-12 all have different vents. The X-11 vent config looks exactly the same as the X-12 so it , no doubt is also a whistler when new.

Arai RX-7 RR (same as Corsair in other markets). I have had it for nearly 5 years, so I will probably have to retire it soon. I also have a Shoei X-11 which I have only used 4 or 5 times. It is lighter, quieter and has better ventilation than my Arai, but the Arai is just soooo comfortable. I bought both in Singapore, where I paid less than half the price of what they were going for in Australia.
