I think your confused Extra. You just explained a launch from zero. Roll-ons are zero skill.
Roll-ons can be performed with zero skill. Just like 1/4-mile drag runs
And both can be done better using some finesse and skill

"The 14R's torque will devastate an H2 in a straight line"...will it now.Ricky ran an 8.2 in his 1st run at Rockingham.THAT wasn't even his BEST run.Only the first one if I recall correctly.Your zx runs what? Devastate is a pretty bold term.Maybe "give it run for it's money" might be more closer to the truth. What gear you hit at the end of your 1/4 mile timeslip? The H2 (modified for Ricky)couldn't get into 5th cause it was too strong on the way down the track(lifting and such).Just wasn't enough pavement left to get any higher numbers.Correct me if I'm wrong here...

Rickey's "Hybrid" uses an H2R head, cams, and ECU. All of those things are not available to an H2 owner. I just don't like the way he did it. Rickey knew an H2 didn't have the ability to put down a number that would eclipse the 14R. It's a cheap marketing trick that just wasn't honest to the Kawi family. I'm not fighting with you Grn. I'm just showing you that it was presented in a confusing manner that was misleading at best.
I would bet the farm against Rickey heads up on your H2 against me on my 14R.
Taking all bets.

Fair enough Mav.
I have to admit my opinions are pretty uneducated and I respect your track experience.
Have you had a chance to run an H2 yet?
If not that could be where Grn might have an advantage as he's run both bikes?

Not bad for what started as an April fools thread! I can't wait to see tests between the two. But I don't think the are competitor bikes. As yannih pointed out, I think the 14 would be more comfortable. Totally uneducated guess as I think GRN has said the H2 is comfortable.
But for me, without the benefit of riding a H2, money no object, I would buy a new 14R over the H2 for its perceived better all roundedness. On numbers alone, I think the H2 would carve up the 14R on the track, but I don't need that. Faster? More HP and lighter weight all speaks for itself in regards to the H2. The 14R just seems the better alrounder. But as yannih pointed out, two amazing machines!

I respect you track experience
Me too but it's worthless on the street!
Here is how I see it boys!
1000cc with boost
1441 cc no boost
14r has 441 cc more, 1000 has boost. That H2 may have more torque numbers in the mid range, but peak horse power should be close. Therefore a skilled 14r rider should be able to spank an H2 and vice versa. Mav would be potent on an H2 on the track since he is "Mr. Stock Swing Arm" but I don't see a 14r being that far behind. Let's remeber. 14r looks awesome at $15000 less. H2 looks like shit at $15000 more. Why not buy 14r and performance mod to your liking? There is no replacement for displacement. IMO anyway.
Last a cool bike is a cool bike. I run a 12r for this reason. It will never compete with the top food chain bike, but I love the look, fit, finish and love to ride the rails off it. Shall I say more..

Yeah,I also respect your experience Mav...
Hell,IDK in all honesty.I've never done any dragging.I'm only really speaking between the two bikes I had(have)the privilege to ride. All I really can say here is...they're close.I'd have to say, this h2 as is is quicker. It just is.It winds up faster. That's all really I can say about the way the power comes on.In the hands of a skilled rider...who knows?I don't.It won't be too far away that some actual H2 street numbers are gonna be coming in.
As far as Ricky 'being deceptive'...I don't see that at all.He was clear about his bike build.Anyone watching the progression of the release of this bike knew it wasn't a totally stock H2.He mentioned and made a point of saying it was HIS Hybrid H2.I knew it wasn't the factory H2.That didn't affect my feelings about him or the bike I bought. He didn't trick anyone that I could see.He never said.."this is my new factory H2".
I only got a kick out of watching him rail on HIS modded bike.I knew mine wasn't gonna do as his does.

Rickey did something that none of us could duplicate. That is what made it unfair. When he put the 14R through it's paces and dipped into the 8s with bolt ons, I was able to duplicate that. No one one the planet will be able to duplicate HIS setup. That's what is bogus about the whole thing. Show us what is capable on a platform that we can get our hands on. Grn if we lived closer I would LOVE to lower and strap yours and run it back to back against mine. Maybe I will get a chance to pilot the H2 some day.
In summary: You can't bolt on the H2R parts that Rickey did without buying an H2R as well. Bogus...
O and to Wolf: Do you honestly think my abilities are limited to the track? I learned to drag race on the street and then transitioned to the track. I was on an 08 CBR600RR and would take a race against any rider that had the misfortune of underestimating me.

"You can't bolt on the H2R parts that Rickey did without buying an H2R as well. Bogus..."...well,we all knew this..the guys getting one that is.It isn't bogus(to me).I never seriously entertained the idea of installing H2R parts into my H2.It was clearly stated in the Kawasaki documents that getting parts for swapping would not be possible.
You know...as I ride this bike,I realize more and more the specialness of it.It wasn't designed to overthrow any 14.And it wasn't designed to thrash any 10R.It's components and setup and all make this bike totally unique. And that's what it is.This bike is the beginning of a whole new design period for Kawasaki. They did a masterful job designing and putting this bike in rideable fashion. It's a great bike with everything a guy like me could want. That's how I feel.I don't care if it beats or doesn't beat any other bike. That's not why I bought it.But the more I ride her,the more I think I understand the real 'idea' behind this thing."built beyond Belief"...I think so.Really, this isn't like any other bike that I've ever ridden. To someone else, they could probably ALWAYS find something to talk about that would convey this bike as 'just another motorcycle with a few tweaks"....they have that right.
I don't EVEN feel this way about this bike.I'm very happy with it.

That's all that matters Grn. My only reason for stepping in was to squash the fiction of the H2's ability to defeat the 14R in straight line acceleration. There are many fallacies in this world, but I will fight the ones that I know I can strike down.

RE: Just blew away an H2 on my 14R

When this bike was first revealed, the immediate question was..."Will it kill the 14"...performance wise. That's what all the buzz was.
Any thinking person could clearly see(on the web)that it wasn't putting out numbers powerwise and all that everyone 'expected'.From a "Built Beyond Belief" motorcycle. The big idea was...it aint performing like a BBB bike.
This wasn't the intention from Kawasaki to build this bike.To beat 14's.You'd have to ride this bird and focus on it's overall performance...on the street to start to get the feeling of what this thing really is.It is an incredibly FUN motorcycle. It just is.It's not like a 14.And it's not like a 10.It's simply...FUN...and comfortable. It rides like a dream. It hauls ass in a heartbeat.Cruises in a way all it's own.The shape. The response. All of it.Handling feel.Just a fun bike.
It never was built to overthrow the 14.That's not what it's about.
If I didn't feel this way about my bike as is...I would have NEVER let my 14 go.My dealer said on several occasions.."You're not gonna get rid of your 14 are you?"...at the time,I said,"No".
But the day she got here, and I fired her up and sitting on her here,I totally fell for this new bike.I honestly knew that for me,getting on my 14 just wouldn't do it for me anymore.I had NO qualms about keeping this one for all riding and letting my 14 go away.Much as I loved that 14.
Silly as it sounds..one of the FIRST things I did was shift into 1st just to see what was up.I didn't kinda realize it HAD shifted into first. There was no drama. No lurch.Nothing.Just a clean smooth feel. And it's improved even more since I've gotten some miles on it.This makes me very happy.Stupid as that sounds.
I may be in the minority about this bike...but my reasoning for ordering was because I trusted Kawasaki that it was gonna be an incredible NEW motorcycle. It IS...to me.Having had 14's since 07...I KNEW the pride and quality that Kawasaki puts into their streetbikes.I wasn't disappointed with anything concerning those or this one.It really is a beautiful machine.

I get it man and I can certainly hear the passion in your words. There is not a chance in hell that I would be able to hide a devilish grin after taking a spin on an H2. I respect what Kawi has built. None of this was a personal jab at you, but a clearing of the waters for guys that MIGHT see the H2 as a potential drag racing upgrade. Because in short, it's just not.

I am not placing RG in this backdoor position, I am placing a what you know, who you know position and a will to win kind of package. Do not make an excuse you could have put the bike up for sale, been on the list for both bikes and made one. Place a lone on the house and think about paying for it all later; not fair. Sounds fair to me you go pissing away money on racing anyway. See me cry pissing away money on the next go-around with the bike that is going to beat the field is an R1 [say in r-racing]?
Are you gonna cry about that old man on the bike for yami, crying about that old fart RG still backdoor'ing it and that door is open to you, Mav. If I can backdoor a brit and a big4 door, so can you. Mention nationals and that means commitment. Staying local is not going to happen. Qualify as the last 2 out of 16 in a constant way, there is a crack at the door. What's next year looking like? Get it?
No one one the planet will be able to duplicate HIS setup. That's what is bogus about the whole thing.

O and Mav: Do you honestly think my abilities are limited to the track? I learned both drag&road racing on the streets, club level, and then transitioned to the big top. I was on a lot of bike brands and would take and run my own race. I'd race against any rider that showed up from whatever country or state. I had the misfortune of underestimating them and had my ass handed to me.
The price of gas getting the the nationals alone is a big chunk, the inns, eats, out flows the cash. That's a given, not and excuse clause. Beclause, time is ticking away, Mav. Tons of local hotshoes is a local against whom?

I know you weren't trying to bust my balls.I know that. And in no way would I ever diss anything you have to say.
The jury's still out about it's 'drag potential'...but I could care less about any of that.I will say as just a note, this Electronic steering damper is really a GREAT addition to THIS bike.It really does inspire street riding confidence for me anyway.I totally dig it.

You know Hub.... As much as I love to slug it out with you.... You really said a number of things that hit home this time. I am that unknown that shows up and ruffles feathers, but I don't do it consistently enough to really gain a foothold in the industry. I would be lying if I said it wasn't because of financial limitations. I do what I do on a VERY limited budget. That's one reason why my ETs mean so much to me. I'm heavier than a man child (175) , I spin the wrenches, I prep the bike, I load the bike, I unload the bike, I pay all the dues, I record the information, and I make the changes that need to be made. It's me and not a whole damn truck load of guys pouring over the bike making changes and corrections. Hell I've been riding for less than 7 years and seriously racing for even less and I would absolutely step up and run next to Rickey Gadson with zero nerves involved. This is what I do and I'm passionate about it. Just keep an eye on me Hub. I don't believe that I'm destined to lurk in obscurity forever.

H2 my ASS, most people who buy a ZX 14R are older riders who has been riding for years and know better, Yes the H2 street version might be slightly faster due to less weight but I can guarantee you this the ZX 14R is mush easy to ride especially on long rides.

Mavi,
Street has other vehicles, road imperfections, un calcuable turns and raggedly intuitive dog fighting. I've seen a great many track guys get eaten by scabs with a pack of Malboros folded undersleave. Your fast on the track. Awesome, carefull about underestimating us.
Mad love Mavi.

I can guarantee you(anyone) this...if you leap off a 50 story balcony, you'll be doa.I don't have to do it myself to know it's fact;)
I have however ridden BOTH bikes now.

You'll appreciate it later in life, Mav... what you've already accomplished and all the rest. That's what counts because no one cares but you and your world to "remember it happened to you" and they can't say it so who cares on their end! If you want it hard enough it's there for the taking, that's for sure.
