One of these days I am going to add up all the few ounces I have shed from the bike. I always take scale pics. You guys know if you read the threads. I'm sure it has been at least 15 lbs not including the weight loss of going to a full system. I just lost another 1.5 lbs going to aftermarket mirrors. Yeah, no point in even trying to get down to the weight of the smaller bikes but I will take a 50 lb reduction. That makes a huge improvement in a 14's all around performance. I'm thinking seriously about a set of Carrozzerias.

I got 4 yrs out of my stock battery, put a replacement one in, I find it helps if you trickle charge 'em every month or two.

I'm thinking seriously about a set of Carrozzerias.

Or you could wait a little longer save a little more and get some BST's. I heard the back their hype up and then some. That's more than half of what I have paid for my bike but if my insurance can insure most of my upgrade at a minimal cost, I'll splurge on them maybe next year after I file taxes

oh! and time for the stupid question: Can you put a shorai on battery tender and if yes is it needed or recommended?

I would email Shorai but I am quite sure there was a certain kind of conventional charger that would work on the Shorai. Kruz mentioned that in one of these threads---the old Shorai thread from January.

Or you could wait a little longer save a little more and get some BST's. I heard the back their hype up and then some.

It is my understanding that the Carro Tri-R is the lightest wheel. Lighter than BST and less expensive.

Romans? Dogo??

maybe i will start a Wheel thread.

from shorai website:

Q. Can I use Lead-Acid battery chargers or charger/tenders?
A.Yes. HOWEVER, you may NOT use a charger/tender if it has an automatic "desulfation mode", which cannot be turned off. We have confirmed with Deltran, makers of the "Battery Tender" brand, that their products do NOT have a desulfation mode, and are therefore OK for use with Shorai LFX, for example. But the best possible charger/tender for Shorai LFX is the SHO-BMS01, which will be released on about March 15th 2011, we expect. It uses the 5-pin BMS port in the LFX batteries, in order to monitor, diagnose, and balance the individual cells during charge. And it also has an optimized storage mode that will give the longest possible service life to your LFX.

If you are storing your vehicle and want to check the remaining capacity, or you're a racer with a constant-loss system, you'll want to know how resting voltage (i.e. with no load or load under 200mA) maps to remaining capacity. LFX batteries should be maintained such that 20% capacity remains at minimum, as best practice. Use a good-quality voltmeter to check remaining capacity, and consider recharge whenever the battery capacity falls to about 50% remaining. Of course, if you get the Shorai dedicated BMS01 charger, you can just hit the "Store Mode" button and leave it to do the work for you.

^^Thanks, Scotty.

Nice. I'll check into that!

Let me know what you come up with , Drag. I always hear "BST, BST, BST" but then someone chimes in that Carros are lighter and they are less expensive. Personally. I wish the Carros were a little less fancy in shape. I would get the blue finish but I like parts that look more down and dirty race utility when it comes to shape.

Good luck finding the exact weights. IDK why those specs are so hard to find.

Donny, no offense intended but you don't know what you're talking about.

Take a completely stock bike to a scale. I'd guess she weighs in about 530lbs.

15lbs for the exhaust. 10 lbs for the battery. 15 lbs for wheels (if you throw the $$ out there). That alone is 40 lbs, putting the "big gal" at 490 lbs.

Take your bike, and a bike set up exactly like yours with a rider that weighs 40 lbs less. Go out on the highway. Watch his taillight disappear into the horizon.

Weight is a HUGE factor on sportbikes. My bike weighed 470 lbs last year. It all adds up.

RE: It's time....

So--Tri R is 14.0 lbs for a set of ZX-14 wheels.

BST CF is going to weigh 13.6 to 14.95 lbs but you do not specify the wheel size and your link is not working for me. I would be pissed if I bought BSTs for a grand more and found they weighed a pound more.,....but they DO look more like a sportbike wheel IMO.

Anyone have the final verdict?/ I know who knows the exact weight of a set of Zx-14 BST wheels. anyon know how to contact MassZX-14?

Do the stock positive/negative cables bolt right on the 18A or do you have to modify them to fit? Thanks.
