I never thin the herd, just add to the stable.

Once paid for, you are practically riding them for free! Tires and fuel not withstanding.

The 14R is my only new (& financed) bike in 30+ years anyway, all its stablemates were paid for in cash. Just had to have a 14R...

Cara, yes put a deposit on a zx 10r last week and pulled it after the wife reminded me about my obligations to her and the kids. I found a beaut 2003 gsxr but it is looking like the deal is going to fall through.

Zx64man, yah, if it works for the G family it should work just fine for me! Realistically though, they talk trade when they really mean steal. One brick through a 1000 dollar Window is a joke against the 3000plus they try and take from you on a trade. Everyone has to stay in business and survive but sheesh some of the monies offered on trades is just criminal.

Wolf, I'd pick up a gently used Gen 4 ZX-10R, in typical Kawi fashion the resale prices are way low, don't get that as they're great bikes. I like the S1000RR also, great build quality but a little too pricey for me right now. The CBR 1000RR Honda is a great bike also and one of the quicker ones around the track. That said, I think I have the most fun on my ZX-6R when the road gets twistie.

What don't you like about the Daytona? Or is it just that the 14R is much more bike/has more to offer? That's a great bike and I'm looking at getting one for my girlfriend for her next bike. She's on a Ninja 500 now, and it will be another 2-3 seasons before she's ready to move up, but we both agree the 675 is one of the potential targets.

That was my question, I've considered picking up a 675R for back road duties, if the road gets tight at all, it'll run off and hide from the 14. The high speed sweepers are where the 14 shines, little can touch it when it's in it's element.

I think it would be a loss to swap that 675 on a 14 as the mission profiles are so different, better in my estimation to keep the 675 and save those pennies up to buy the 14R later. But then again, we've all been where he is, got the hots for that new ride and we get the "gotta have it now" syndrome. Dealers love that, they make a killing off of us.

When I am ready for a change, I plan to start modding, maybe even painting, and if needed, rebuilding the engine, (if it needs it by then) that way I can keep the bikes I have.

That way your desire for something fresh is satisfied, and you don't go back into debt, either.

Sort of like just having your wife dye her hair and lose weight, instead of cheating on her with another woman.

I was looking at Ducatis again today, the 1199 leaves me a little cold though. I mean what's the point of having a big twin if it has no low end torque? It is sharp looking but I prefer the old under seat pipes. I found a super clean 2010 1198 Corse SE with 1800 miles nearby, that's the one with the brushed aluminum fuel tank, Ohlins TTX suspension and Termignonis right out of the box. He's asking $17,500 which is book, that was a $25,000 bike new. That's a lot of money but a really sweet machine.

I'm half tempted to shoot him a silly offer. Read the add, he's throwing in his helmet and jacket with the bike. My guess, first bike, the guy had tons of money and bought a $25K bike....then he rode it a couple times and scared himself silly. 1198s are very fast and they will loop easily in gears 1-3, that's really an expert's bike, not for the faint of heart.

Well...I'd say the 14R isn't in your wants. It'll never run with the 600's...or the 1000's...not safely anyway.I love my 14R...but then I'm not out to get koo koo in sharp corners and such.I like the bigness of my bike...and the feel. It's just right for me...you wouldn't like it as much I don't think...from what you're saying...which is totally fine.

Yep, different missions, if I'm going to do 300 miles, I'm taking my 14, no question really. The 600s and liters will wear you out in 40 miles on the super slab, no kidding.

Boys I'm looking at a 2003 gsxr 1000. 4800 bones with 6800 km. Immaculate condition. Some say "track bike!"

Well, if you are going to build a track only bike, that is the way to do it but get it cheap. Don't waste big bucks on engine tuning and brakes, fancy paint job on your Shark Skinz etc., cause you're going to crash hell out of it.
All that can come later, this bike will be sacrificed for the greater good. If I bought that Duc, it would never see the track, too much money, I'm not rich. That would be my Starbucks bike, ridden only on special occasion and then parked in the living room.

03 would be a good bike for a man your size wolf, gsxr's got a little smaller in 05. I had a 04, same bike as 03. Wicked fun bike for sure.
