You could lower the frontend about an inch...I wouldn't go any further.Maybe also lower the rear 1/4".Probably will need some new lowering links.

RE: Not feeling the 14

I too came from a ZX12R (2nd gen) which I owned for 10 years. The 12 was a big sport bike. Very comfortable and more sport than sport touring. The 14R is an adjustment but the Michelin Pilot Road 2's seem to give me the handling I want but not like a 12R. More sport touring than a 12R. Since that is how I use the bike (no track days) it's fine for me...

.lol.You're supposed to ride it at least a couple of times after ya get it....jus sayin...LOL.;) GRN
Don't know what that means, but the KTM has 12,000+ miles in 13 months of ownership and I'm finally getting comfortable with it. Anyone who jumps on a bike and feels comfortable right away is probably missing a few screws themselves. The ZX-14 took at least that long if not longer to get comfortable with an adapted to.

Danno, the 14 doesn't have any problems doing wheelies, I just don't feel as comfortable doing them as I do on the 12.I like everything about the the bike it is just taking longer than I thought it would to become comfortable on it. Like a new baseball glove doesn't feel as good as your old one. I am sure a set of Pilot Powers are going to do it for me.-z1rtctim
The 14 is longer (14R even moreso) than the 12R and slightly heavier, so you're never gonna get a 14 to feel like a 12R unless you shorten it and lighten it slightly. What was posted about the 12R being a big sportbike and the 14 more sport-touring is mostly due to these two factors.

Lowering a longer, heavier bike will not make it handle like a lighter, shorter one. The recommended low setting of the fork height is 3/4" above the top yoke to the top of the tube. When you say an inch, an inch from the top tube is about as much as I would risk. An inch from 3/4" down would be a disaster waiting to happen.
