Since I had my 14 which was my first bike, I only had one close call. How do you guys continue to be accident free riders?
When is doubt, gas it. Close calls are my forte. Key on, you are 100% locked in to your surroundings. Look up ahead for danger is key. Look for the darts coming out of the driveways. The 'left hander' at intersections. You are brake savvy and slow for the LH'ers. Down enough to show them who's coming is you know they see that headlight and still turn in front of you so that's BS right there with lights on. Think with lights off.
Passing is playing with mirrors, not head turns. Scaryes, but up ahead you are on someone's ass and they brake you turning around from looking back, ahhhhh, no. You may be the target, but you are sitting on the dart. So you being the target, the scenario goes, you signal for left lane; mirror shows no one immediately is in that lane; so you moved into the middle lane. Here comes a speeding car and that winker you have on means nothing. The car is moving into the middle lane from the fast lane and you are both about to meet he is hauling ass.
This is where doubt sets in and you know there is the car coming down on you, you see it coming out the corner of your eye. There is no way you and that car's speed will take the same spot. The time is ticking away and you are thinking what to do, corner of your eye you looking straight ahead. I'm about to wax the guy's left mirror I'm trying to pass in front of me. I've already crossed into the middle lane. You with that darthrottle, she opens up and you slice for the split of the lanes as if lane splitting. I spit on the mirrors before the rub beer dub-dub-4 flies. Oops! It happened too fast on the ripsteer, my dear. Better known as a mirror finish, both are dots in my mirror. Back into the right lane I go.
Gassing it took care of that. Scaryes, but that's how she works on the job. I'm in the drone of under 4,000 rpm @ 65mph, right lane. It's all about wolf pack from here on out. No one is at a constant speed so you play the dart looking for the gaps. So, right lane you are chasing line/watching traffic/looking for the gumball machines up the ramps/up ahead/or way back as far as the mirror shows. It's back into the left lane, peel those fuckers out of their seats on some rips or clip just a few mph aiming ahead for the right lane's gap.
Lane position is where? I'm not going to be in the middle lane, be to the right of that lane, so I am not in someone's blind spot on my right? Fuck that shit. I am far left in the middle lane and passing like come get some make a move. That means I never hang with traffic I am moving for the gap so they catch up again. Bye the time I lift, come one. You are slowing down from 90 so your far enough up to the next gap or behind the next wolf pack. So I never sit next to a car in lane. Not if I can help it. I dart ahead and if s/he speeds up so do I. They get the hint you mash that fly.
Be very aggressive. Keep your distance when there is no place to go. They get the hint and back off the same distance. Keep calm in traffic. You are in line and the assholes hanging up traffic is why get upset about it? Do shitasshit so they stay away from you. Practice your balance so you keep your feet up and slow down real slow so the asshole in the back does not skid up to you. As always, you are on that mirror at all stops: ready for an exit from getting slammed into.
