I use an old HJC flip up, but my next will be a C3 Pro, for the quiet.

HJC Pro:
Deep ear wells, for the blu-tooth comms speakers.
Cheap.

HJC Con:
Heavy.
Gay (yeah baby! OK, just kidding, really)
Cheap.( ya get what ya pay for..)
Loud.

I've started using SureFire EP4 Sonic Defenders® Plus. Man, I *love* these things.

Cycle World just completed a test of modulars both above and below the 300 dollar (US) level.

Under $300, they picked the Speed and Strength, "locked and Loaded" unit. Gave it very high marks close to the ultra expensive selection (better than some) in the 500 to 800 dollar range.

Unlike the other Speed and Strength gear, this helmet is actually reserved in appearance. I intend to seek out a try on with one before I buy and am a little concerned that the testers didn't like the venting on it as well as others.
But venting is not my highest priority, fer sure.

The last two issues of Cycle World have the test articles; this month, under 300; last month, over 300. Look it up yourself for some pretty thorough report. I have seen the Speed and Strength online at $179.00 US.

Best wishes.

Paul:

Yeah, I read both of 'em. I'm gonna go sweet-talk the local Cycle Gear and see if they'll bring in a copy of the S+S helmet, for a look-see. I'm always interested in saving a buck (or a hundred).

I want it all, tho. Light-ness, good venting (Tucson, after all), and quiet, it must be quiet. ... and room for the gee-whiz blue tooth stuff I use now (which I *love*).

So, if I have to throw money at it to get everything I want, oh well...
