Wow 72-80 degrees!!! Shiiiit I'd love to be down there!! There's so much sand on the roads up here I'm almost thinkin of not riding it just because of what the damned sand and salt will do to it. That would be a great run though!! Thank you 14rider, I've been wondering if it wouldn't turn into a "Special purpose" bike for me, you know maybe twisty weekend or just runnin around Tulsa a little. On a torque basis study, not a HP difference, I'm going to place my foot in the fire and say the rr owners come away with: It's faster than the 14 in one way, but the 14 comes around it in a final way. How close am I? 80's torque vs. 120

See, THAT'S what I'm sayin HUB! I know what I'm hearing but I just don't see how it can be faster! I make my living with physics, I founded and own a company that designs everything from belt drive, chain drives, gear drives etc... We've designed and applied everything from drives on V16 Waukesha engines running pumps on rigs in the North Sea to Micr-Miniature drive components on Optical Lens Grinding machines, think LensCrafters. For the life of me I just can't see this bike being "Faster" than my 14R, quicker up to a point, but faster? I'm just gonna have to see it. It HONESTLY doesn't matter to me because I've said to my buddies all along that the only reason I had to get a Litre bike was for our twisties weekends. I actually wouldn't have if I hadn't had the chance to get an HP4. Like I've said, I (just my opinion) just think it's a really COOL bike to own and sport around on. ALMOST as cool as our beloveds, but in a really different way. I'm personally not comparing it to my 14 simply because it's just....different.

I'm going to stick the other foot in the hot cherry coals and say: It does not have the coming out of a corner torque like the 14 has in the short shoots; it more needs to stretch its legs out in the higher rpm where we can build more torque. The higher HP output gets us there sooner? Sick, if you are confused about the physics, think where I'm sitting.

I spoke too soon in the 'no investigation'... Can't blame the rider or his pit. Hopefully no corporate to mess up the calls. Either this thing wins or not. That bike better take the trophies this time or back to the drawing board.

Sic, make sure you get a good flash (I would go with Cblast, but choose whoever) before you do a side by side comparison, not putting the BMW down in any way, like I said, if I had the money, I would have one in my garage !

It's strange how you guys acknowledge the BMW for what it is powerful and close to the 14 in acceleration

but "most" of the members over the S1000rr forum call the 14 a big tank that is cumbersome heavy and awkward

I guess it's the difference in the demographic that each bike attracts; anyway I'm proud to have both regardless of what kinda unfounded criticism each may draw

Hey Buser! Yea, I think I'm gonna be sending my ECU to Blast real soon for the attitude adjustment! LOL I'm really anxious for that and yea I feel really, really lucky to have one. I talked to the BMW Dealer I got it from today about some other stuff and asked him if what I heard about the import numbers were correct and he told me that BMW told them that there were gonna be exactly 237 of these into the country. So I'm feeling VERY lucky right now! ZX14man, yea I'm actually like you, I don't really care in the end which one's the fastest and really, when you have 2 of the most refined machines on the planet I think it's just a TOTAL waste of time to argue with ANYONE over which one is "Best". I mean really, the "Best" bike needs to be the one we've paid, or paying for! LOL I mean why else would we have either one of these bikes!

Yeah, I have ridden the S1000rr, not the Hp4, but it was a well done rr. Good tune. And it was a fuckin crazy corner speed demon. That's a fact. The only thing that could hang with one on a normal curvy road is maybe a pro on a duc. Or Dogo. That thing is a scalpel sir. I recognize that bikes single minded greatness. A 14r could not hang on beach drive. But hey, she looks good doin it. ;)
