That's exactly what im thinking. I got the bike pretty much empty - Pretty much bullshit if you ask me, i didn't figure it out till the next day. What if it was empty like that for 3 months. Would that really damage/rust the inside of the tank? Is this something i should look after i treat maybe? Or just put it full and forget about it?

The Bottle says: Put the whole bottle in, with a full gas tank.

Though, i think this bottle is based on car tanks. so i might as well do 50% now and 50% in 3000 kilometers for example.

Just split it Mat-they're most likely speaking about treating 21 gallons or so(full car tank).So just divide 5 into whatever they're saying "will treat up to".and put that much in with your fillup.So let's say,for example,the bottle has 10 oz's.Okay,divide ten by 5,that gives ya 2 oz's.Pour in 2 oz's and fill er up.Repeat after you run that first tank out(not completely out though).You CAN add more to the mix if ya like-it won't hurt anything.But I definitely would NOT pour the whole thing in there-into only 5 gallons.Just use yer head and split the treatments up.Maybe THREE treatments-that should definitely clean yer fuel system just fine.As for rust,well,look down in there with a flashlight and check it out.Any rings of rust anywhere?If not-she's most likely okay.But if you're really worried,get a small bottle of MARVEL MYSTERY OIL and pour about 4,5 oz's in there when ya fill up.It'll clean any rust that may be in there.If ya don't see any with the flashlight,I personally would not worry about it being in the bottom.

Not to sure if you have ridden it much yet , so if you haven't I would not put the injector cleaner in just yet, If the bike hasn't been ridden for awhile it may just need a good run, charge the battery etc, do 300kms or a tank of fuel on her and see how she runs, then you can always put that stuff in at a later time, it would be good to see how it comes up after not been ridden, little short motor runs and sitting can cause it to be a bit clogged up so to speak get her nice and hot go for a good long run, then see what you've got.
Inside the tank will be OK, a full tank of fresh fuel , premium unleaded we use over here. $1.40 / liter that's cheap compared to you I suppose
Then follow blues tips above with the cleaner if you want or need too!

We have Euro 95 and 98 here. costs about the same as what u pay a liter.

Ur right though, ill do a run first with a full tank, and see what happens. I haven't got the chance yet to ride the bike .......... lol! The weather just doesn't work along. I HOPE i can ride this saturday, it will be rainy, but FUCK that shit, i wanna ride!!!!!!!! as long as the wheels can find grip, im OK with it.

About the Rust - Im not sure, its hard to look into the tank because this is the first tank where theres some kind of ..... god, hard to explain - Theres a little metal plate inside the tank, i think its something with security, but i cant look INTO the tank cus of that thing, gonna be fun filling the tank up, no way i can judge how much more benzine goes into the tank. lol

Mat if it sat that long empty i think id run a tank and then just to be on the safe side id change out the fuel filter after you run a tank of gas thru it

That's a splash guard. It works pretty good compared to my Suz which has none. It does make it pretty hard to look in the tank though. If there was rust, it would be the worst right around the top of the tank so you might be able to feel it with your finger (careful the splash guard has very sharp edges). I haven't heard of ANY 14 owners claiming their gas tank had rusted - ever. It's just a precautionary measure to not let the tank sit empty during storage year after year.

You're not going to believe this Matsuke-- there is NO fuel filter. Nope, just a screen inside of the tank and the only way to look at that would be to remove the gas tank and remove the fuel pump from the bottom of the fuel tank. The pump and the screen are inside of the tank. The screen is a very fine mesh so it will prevent most anything from going through the line that isn't liquid. I have heard of no problems with the screen getting clogged.

There are fuel fiters that can be installed but that was ill advised as the fuel lines are extremely high pressure. There is no sense in having a risk of leakage. The screen works fine. I wish Kawi would have put a fuel filter on there just so it could be inspected periodically.

If its going to be raining, be extra carefull, go easy on the front brake its very powerful even in the dry .

Thanks for the warning, my Thundercat had uhm, OK breaks, put had to push hard to really stop quickly, so thats something i DONT want to forget, especially with the rainy weather i guess.

I felt the same way at first. It is not hard at all as long as you run most of the gas out of it. The two wire clips in the back are the hardest part and you have to be certain the fuel line is reconnected or you will have high pressure gas squirting everywhere. You'll have to lift that tank to get your flies out some day.

I did my first Run today! ..... Good stuff :D

Handling seems no problem at all, even with the rainy/cold weather atm i feel kinda unsure but thats just because its wet and cold. But cornering i feel totally comfortable with. Did like 60 miles today, did some runs to 8k-9k and its just ..... SOOO easy how the meter goes up and up, by FEELING i go like 60 mph but im actually going 100 mph for example. It's just .. wow!! amazing.

2. Theres condence .. not sure if thats the right word - in my headlights, is this normal or is this sealed normally? With Condence i mean ... Watery air.

3. I put the tank full, and i forgot to bring the STP stuff, u know - To clean up the injectors? But when i filled it up it started instantly! Im gonna try it again tommorow, and see if its a cold-issue maybe?

4. Breaks? Very niceeeeeeeee.... kinda scary since i did a run to 100mph and a car decides to change lanes, and im thinking about HOW to break since they are so good its scary. lol

5. I hear a very LIGHT rattle somewhere in the front, also when i stand still, any idea?

6. Since most people dont know the bike, lots of faces are turning. feels good! *Attention Whore!!* lol naw :D

It should be the bar graph on the far left of the multifunction meter. It works just the same as the temperature bar graph on the right. If you have 0 bars of gas but you just filled it, perhaps there is a float in the tank that is stuck all the way down? There is no way to disable the fuel gauge. It is on all the time. Does it read 6 bars after filling up? It won't go down to 5 until after maybe ~40 miles.

Condensation -- yes, I have seen this in head lights after a washing and I think in the cold weather too. It will clear out.

It may have been an "almost running on fumes" issue. I've run my tank out of gas only one time so I don't know how it behaves when the fuel gets that low. Maybe that was the only problem.

I remember a few scary moments the first couple months. I've had the back lighten up, lose traction and lock up a little bit a couple times. Wouldn't want to have that happen in a corner. No stoppies but some hard emergency braking. Good to know it can be done but better to stay out of those situations in traffic if you can. Maybe practice in a parking lot to get the feel of it for the day when you need to do that.

Does it sound like a tickyticky ticky ticky time bomb? Tip over sensor. Normal. There is a simple way to tighten that up if it bothers you.

Ya Mat-you can toggle your screen display to "average mileage", or "instantaneous" with the mode button on your LCD.The clunk into 1st is "common".....but you can smooth that a bit by LOWERING your idle(AFTER SHE"S COMPLETELY warmed up)to about 950 RPMS.Any lower,she'll probably stall.Anywhere between 950 and 1000 rpms,the lower,the better.That should help ya a bit.

Really? okok. Didn't know that would help the BANG switching to from neutral to First gear. Nice =)) Wheres the thingy to lower the rpm? somewhere on the sides?

The "thingy"......"idle adjustment screw" is right on the left side of the engine case coming down from under the left midfairing-it's a black covered cable with a little silver knurled knob on it.Right there around the reservoir bottle.You'll see it.But don't adjust until she's COMPLETELY warmed up to operating temperature.

The button that switches between Current, Average, Range and Battery Voltage is the top one. Really- I checked the manual this time, I'm sure that is correct. Personally, I like Current. It will show you what kind of mileage you are getting right now. I switch back to Average every now and then just to see what that looks like.

There is a procedure to change the language on the display Matsuke. You can have French or English.

Whattaya mean"see how long it's been since I was on the 14"....what the?ROOK-you still have yer 14 doncha?Aren't you riding?You know,I may just stick mine on "instantaneous" as well-kinda cool to watch it go from 45 to 99 mpg!

Great to see you on two wheels the 14 kind, hope you have a ton of fun riding her . don't be in to big a hurry to spend your hard earned cash on all the extras these guy around here do. Half on them are as nutty as a fruit cake the other half are mad. Ride her stock until you master the beast a little. then you can spend your bucks in places were you will get the best value and gains .
Blue, I wish mine would get 99 mpg an extra couple of liters in the tank size would of been great Mister Kawasaki!!!!!!!!!
