Tune ???? Rook what did you here ? Does shane have Power commander for the 14R ? 210hp & 123 torque Huge #'s.

oops--------there I went ASSumming. He had done several dyno runs so I figured he must be tuning if he is getting better runs????? Also, I thnk I read "better numbers than last week" but it registered in my brain as last tweak. LOL this new bike is like having drugs. I better not get one. I guess it was just the pipe he put on there. WeLL, imagine what a tune will do if he is in the 200 hp ballpark without!

I don't mean to be a party pooper but +- 200hp is what you get from the s thou nowadays and they re saying way north of that after the race pack. THe 14R s got a huge motor it shouldn't be even close. oh and the tq on the bmw is getting up there 2.
But yeah compare to what we have not bad...
with bolt ons the 14 can loose that much weight and gain 20 hp, the 14R gains 15hp. So you got a bike that still weight more than the old one with 25hp and tc. I'll pass. Though I have to say changing gear in a fast sweeper with 200hp sounds fun.
I rather put my bike on a diet. the liter are going for our power we should go for their weight. I see bst s in my future unless somebody tells me the 14R is more agile

Your '06 is (relatively) light at just over 550 stock with full fuel. Slip ons alone knock that down to about 535. Add a Shorai battery, fender eliminator, ditch rear pegs and 3 lb tool bag and you're down around 520 - 525 lbs wet. Remember, literbikes weighed 500 lbs not too long ago and the 2011 R1 is still 477 lbs wet....oink oink!

Stage 2, bring bucks....BST wheels and a titanium Akra single exhaust and you're getting close to older literbike territory with big torque.

Only problem big guy, you can't shrink the pilot and you and me are plus size....lool!

Now there you go, if KHI had put the 14R on a serious diet plan, I'd be all over that thing like a cheap suit! Imagine a sub 500 lb ZX14, even with the old motor it would be a time warp machine!

That, I would have to see.

You can drop 100 lbs off your still street legal 14. ....if you want to really go all out.

wait on those BSTs. I may be getting a set of Tri-Rs beginning of February. If thet weigh in close to BSTs might want to save yourself 1K$.

Really going to get the '11 10R? It's a good bike but if I was doing it all over again, I might look for a clean, low mileage '08 or get a new, left over '09 or '10. My '08 was an animal compared to my '11. The '11 has better suspension, is silky smooth and never does anything wrong... and it's 20 lbs lighter than the Gen 3.....but it's kind of like going out with the high school class valedictorian, really smart but a little boring. Gen 3 is more like that sexy girl with the tatoos and pierced navel in the back of your home room class that you always fantasized about....edgy! I think the '11 has killed the 10R's bad boy image. It is a better track machine but maybe not quite as much fun as a hooligan bike...mods may change all that however.

I gave up on that, I starved myself down to skin and bone for the last time ...LOL! My natural, lean body weight is somewhere around 225 and only by extreme measures can I decrease that further. I hit 204 and 7% body fat a few years back and looked like a Biafran refugee..never again! Hey, the 600 even pulls me surprisingly well, so no worries!

An 08 in really good condition would be great... the 11 is tempting though but why should I buy new for track. I am planning to go ohlins susp and akrap exhaust so I better buy used. race fairing would be nice too.

I am the opposite my body like to travel light so I loose muscle mass fast.

Drag, just the Akrap Race alone will put you at an honest 175 rear wheel on a Gen 3. I went with the Evo, same pipe but in titanium, just over 9 lbs. Get the stock Ohlins damper brought up to race spec, $125 from Dan Kyle Racing and get your suspension sorted, rear end is too soft and front is a little harsh. That's about it, I really liked my Gen 3, it just had that awesome power delivery that 10Rs are known for. Weight dropped from 460 lbs w/ full fuel down to a svelte 438 lbs, lighter than the new one! Looked forward to riding that bike like no other...may she rest in peace!

New bike's a pussycat, probably better in most areas but the outrageous fun factor just isn't there.....yet!

BTW, check out Ivan's Performance website for '08 goodies. I bought the entire package from him with the PC3, TRE and his map for the Akra full system. Everything is designed to work together. He did my 14 also, highly recommended.

Ivan's claiming over 176 rear wheel for the Gen 3 ZX-10R with the Akra pipe and the rest of his goodies on there, big increase in midrange..... actually it pulled freaky hard everywhere.

you want the ho, I'd go for 100% pure unadulterated slut......just get a nice light 600 and mod for the track as you wish.

if you are rolling in the doe like Kruz and you can afford a couple 2 or 3 street bikes, I'd get the 2011 after the track bike......but they might have something better by then so who knows.

give up trying to keep up. buy it love mod it it's yours for many years. how fast are you gonna go?

The slut is just too tiny for me Rook! It's not an ego thing. When I get a chance I'm gna ask wify to take a pic of me on the 14... you'll see. I want a liter because the straight line fun is getting a bit old. I was following a 600 on a group ride 2 days ago... we came up to this mean hairpin... the girl up front barely moved her body and made the turn... I went a little too hot and didn't hang off. oh man, I tell you I felt it. I had to have a crazy lean to make it and almost ran off. I yelled to myself: look through the turn. loool. I was surprised the big girl made it! STILL.. I want a liter.
@ Kruz: Nice fleet! Do you sometimes put ur bike keys in a basket shake it and pick to see what u'll be riding?

Man there are some young ladies now that can really haul on a sportbike, Elena Meyers won an AMA Superstock race last year. There was a crash up front that left the door open but I give her credit for being close enough to capitalize. Check ego at the door.

Straight line is boring, unless we're talking 140 to 150 mph plus on backroads and I gave that crap up a long time ago. Way too dangerous to life, limb and license privileges. Turns are where you can have serious fun while developing serious skilz. You'll never get too fast I'n the corners, even Rossi is still learning.

I rode my 6R yesterday, this is handsdown the most fun bike I own. I think for your size, a liter might make some sense but look at my pic, all three bikes are close in size, biggest difference in weight.

The new 10R feels like a 600 in the corners but has some very serious steam above 10,000 rpm.

If I won the lotto, I'd run females. I hear Elena is no fluke, so racing is racing. You have to be up front to run with who cares who is running top 5. Stop the presses... You average out races, a lot are won with the survivors waiting for a piece of the meat off the carcass. She is alpha so watch out! No one here could catch her we all on even rides. She was the real deal coming up is more of what I hear. Put you penisis to shame you should be honored it's not you now is it holding one of those you should have been ahead of here, right?

I disagree. Remove the civic duty, you need both. Fast is safe. Cranked over is more raggedge than 160 all day long. Besides, you keep lowering times the more practice you have. My lap times showed I never slowed down, but got faster with faster bikes. Even on the same bike, practice brings your times down. Painting your favorite road with brake markers is one thing. Instinct riding is another. No paint is going to help. You either have it or you don't.

As I said in a previous thread, knee dragging on the street is just as dangerous as going fast in a straight line on an open road. Probably even more dangerous.

Knee dragging is safe. The same as saying speed is safe at any speed. And then the other side of the coin is, don't skid over water or don't hit a wall, respectively speaking. WOT are the odds... Go for it!

I.... dunno. Unless you're practicing knee down close to a ravine, I'll say it is more safe cause most likely you are going to low side. If you hit a car that 's backing out the drive way... your speed upon impact shouldn't be too bad. At 160 you hit a rakoon and your DOA. Furthermore, I have met many guys who've low sided on their favorite twisted road... how many guys u know that came back from an accident over 120mph?

Any speed and style you can do on the track you can do on the street. It's not a question of "can you" but "should you." If you are riding all out on the street there is just a lot more things that can kill you than at the track.

At 160 you hit a rakoon and your DOA.
check out the vids of bikes hitting deer at 60. You might be surprised at how many just keep going until the shock wears off. I'm not saying hitting animals is safe but it is not a definite crash situation.

how many guys u know that came back from an accident over 120mph?
Again refer to vids. Drag strip, haven't seen any fatal crashes. They get up and walk away. Again, I wouldn't say it's safe but if you dont hit an immovable object, I think gear protects you pretty well.

I still don't find crashing an acceptable risk. I know it is always present but it's something that I always have in my head when I sport ride. "will this cause me to crash? Could something happen here?" The track is more predictable in that sense. But if the conditions are favorable on the street, I don't see much diff from track riding.

You'll never get too fast I'n the corners, even Rossi is still learning.

how long did it take you to learn to exceed the speed limit by 30-40-50 mph in the twisties?

Do that here once. More than once you have no lic and no insurance. Insurance is not real forgiving these days. I hear you will for ever be high risk if you get busted DUI. I don't know about wreckless driving.

point is, you practice a bit and you are into it with good overall health and decent fitness, you are gonna get fast enough to make the average cop think you are insane even if you ride where you think you won't get busted. JMHO

I have no solution for this. I know we are all going to go fast some times. Just been counting up the times I have been stopped and finding I remember a new one each time. Law of averages catches up to you. You get a mr law and order he's gonna sock it to ya. That is why the track is so refreshing. No one is out to get you except maybe just for pure fun.

ya know guys, just because a cop hgoes through the academy, is authorized to weild guns among other weapons, opperates all sorts of expensive equipment......that don't mean he has an ounce of f&&%$#ing brains in his head.

Cops are hunters and hunters hunt. If you hunt, Don't be stupid or you fall prey. What an ass. Please watch to end. I simply cannot believe how easily this fool walked right into this.
