DK, I got the BLACK MAMBA!!! LOL! It looks meeeeean as hell. I like the green one primarily because of the wheels but a local shop will swap my black wheels with the machined ones when he gets some in. Had a blue 07 so I didn't want to do that color again.
Man, as you guys can tell, I'm pumped about the 14R. Can't wait to get ride it. I'm definitely taking it to the Dragon this year. I hope you get a chance to ride a friend's. A quick demo on the highway won't do. You need to put in work to get a real appreciation. That bitch is bad.

Thanks for sharing CK... You're getting me pumped!
Any idea on what springs are in the 14r's suspenders?
The 14's stock suspension is/was only good for a 150lb jockey, IMO... Obviously the 14R's is much better, but wondering if the big(ger) boys will still need to upgrade.

I've only have a hundred miles on the new R; but that is enough to vouch for some of the rider impressions here on the list recently.
I loved my first gen ZX-14 and was afraid that trading for the new R could be a mistake. Well, no worries mate! I test rode and rejected the Ducati Diavel in favor of keeping my ZX just last summer; but am now instantly happy with the decision to trade for the R this winter.
Don't have any dyno numbers for you, but we have seen them anyway. No track lap times but I'm sure they are coming from some of you and I am sure they will be impressive.
Just put me down for "What Grn said!" and for " What CurveKilla said!" This bike is a leap forward not a slow evolution. Could they have leaped futher? Well sure but at what cost and for how much gain over the R? Debatable business decision.
This new blue bike of mine is one great performer without getting out of the break-in rpm range. Short shifting all the way to 70-80 mphr in sixth and laying into 40 mph curves on a familiar road was like a magical sixth sense connection with the beast. It turns effortlessly and almost before you realize you asked it to turn! The old blue 14 required conscious effort at this pace on these roads, for me at least. This one handles much better and I am not a small person at 220 lbs and 6'3". Chalk one up for the new spring rates and the lower rotating mass of the wheels.
The torque from this monster at lower rpm is impressive and the smoothness without par in my experience. I can't wait to get it into the upper rpm ranges. The first generation could still scare from time to time with its sudden acceleration on the power curve; this new one may be able to terrify me, if the low rpm response and the sounds from the engine are any indication, as it approaches the currently "forbidden zone" of rpm.
Speaking of which, the weather right now, this instant, is better than it is predicted to be for the next week!
Gotta go now and get closer to full break-in. Catch ya later; hell, catch anything I want later.

I was planning on getting out there today and enjoying the bike. Nojoy.. Too cold and way too much traffic. Turns out today is a major holiday with all the buttheads out there shopping. So instead of riding I cleaned her up. Also had to put the cans back for awhile. Everytime I got on her my head vibrated, thought my head was going to explode. Met my girl at T's diner and she said she heard me first, then she felt the vibration in the diner where she was waiting for me. Said she thought the windows were gonna vibrate out.
So afew days ago I put the cans back on. Its nice and quiet now and draws alot less attention. This is the kind of bike you want to be in stealth mode as much as possible. This thing cruises at 90mph at just 5000RPM thats nothing, you cant even feel it look down and your like shit over 100mph again. The 14R is smooth as my girls ass and at 23yrs old thats smooth... I didnt notice any thing different at all with the cans on or off. At almost 700 miles the bike is showing no neg signs. Shit is still tight where on my 2011 ZX14 afew things were already loose. This one is built better.
One thing Ive been reading here is that some of you wanna know how well she handles.. Well my last bike (2011-ZX14,Yoshi-Full-R77,PC5,TRE,CRG,HID,LED,MICH's) was ridden almost everyday, I bought it June 2011 and from June till Oct. I put roughly 10,000 miles on her. So I have a good idea of differences between 11 & 12.. New one handles better, more confidence with the electronics, feels better on the sweepers, feels lighter all way around and with the mods on my old 14 it still doesnt feel anywhere close to the 14R. I think the bike way ahead of the Gen1s. Gen 1s ran for almost 6 years with mild changes.
This puppy is really new from the ground up. It might resemble the Gen 1 but its a totally different beast. Ricky G should know and its pretty much been proven that out of the crate this thing is a monster. Power comes on real fast and it just pulls like crazy. Ive been riding big street bikes since I was 17 and Im almost 50 and I can def say that this is the fastest thing Ive ever been on including that freaky gal in Sin City.
One thing I like is the Traction Control. I think it saved my butt afew nights ago when I got alittle too aggressive on a nice sweeper... I think I might have lost it on my 2011, but I think the computer on the 14R saved my ass, cold road and tires.. I lucked out again... This was on the opposite side where RB was killed last summer... He might have been looking out for me who knows, but RIP RB...
Well all I can say is that if Im having this much fun in 27* degree weather with no electric gear I cant wait for spring. I still love and will miss the old 2011 ZX14 and I still dig the Busa's, but this new 14R is really the shit. Great seat postion, great feel from the bars, crazy power, nice sound, killer paint, good rubber, surprising MPG, what more could I want from a sport tourer...

Creeps, what kind of cans did you have on it? I'm currently looking for a pair of "quiet" aftermarket joints and want to avoid yours. lol

I was talking about the stock cans. Im probably gonna hold off putting any thing on it till I save some cash. Im not sure if Im going to spend much on this bike. Im pretty content with it as is. I think a PC5 and full system is about all Im going to do performance wise. Im going to add HID's with LED's and thats about it.
I lost too much money on my trade in and addons for the 2011. Im just happy I was able to get into a 14R.

What is a CT, what is a AH2, what is all these other things suck as PC500, AT200, and LCD? Suck was not a mistake in typing by the way. I know LCD TVs suck, these are on a bike? CT on the goldwing group means car tire. I know that much. All these exhaust mods are not of interest even with 219hp.
