Do we have any women contributors.?
Or there may be some out there. Sort of like Bigfoot.

Paul AB ECU secrets....hehehehehe
My wife is not really into the "bike thing" as she calls it! We hoped over to the gas station for a refuel. She will not allow me to buy her gear as it will mean she has to ride with me! I'm ok with that, as she is ok with my bike thing!
Cheers lads!!

Oh hey Fat forgot to mention. Meds that increase your acuity ie scanning ahead and alertness always come with some consequence. A good night's rest, 94 and a beautiful day to push off is definitely my medicine. The owners manual calls for premium fuel on the gen 2 14r. I've run 89 and 91 and 94. Eventhough 89 is considered premium my bird runs best on 94! Now this maybe all going down in my head, but she feels livelier with the 94. And it's 22 bucks when compared to 19 at the pump. Not that I want to incite a fuel decision war, that's just my

I login to our beloved forum most nights. I scan and search, read and try to learn.
When i feel that I can contribute I do, but my knowledge and experience is limited.
That's the reason I joined in the first place. The knowledge bank is outstanding and you guys are very generous with your contributions whenever I have had problems or questions. I thank you all for that.
Naturally opinions get expressed. I take it all on board and then decide what to do. No-one forces me to go down any particular path. I appreciate every ones opinion.
I have decided to go ahead with some more modifications which will involve getting my bike on the dyno.
Hopefully within a couple of weeks I will be able to post the details as well as some results.
In the meantime I will continue to be a part of this great forum in my own way.
I just don't know how some of you guys can be so prolific with your contributions.
I'm a single parent and work pretty long hours. Then you have to make dinner, feed the dogs, wash up, the list goes on and on.
Please don't think that just because I don't post, it doesn't mean I'm not there.
I will always be thankful for the insight you guys provide and the sense of being welcomed.
Its taken the better part of half an hour to post this and I gotta go to bed! Up at 5.00 am again.
Than you all again for this wonderful forum and stay tuned. I am excited about what is going to be done to my bike and I am eager to share my experience. Thanks again and goodnight!

That's good feed back Jordan.
Everyone contributes just by being a member.
Everyone has busy lives.
Your riding the best bike around.
You make your own decisions. That's how it should be.
Having a bank of knowledge is the best part.
Over time you will bank some of your discoveries with your bike here.
That's the best part. Something for the next new member to read.

Its simple, think of the best way to get your point across intelligently and without degrading or humiliating another member, see not hard, let your passion be your guide but your tongue be a bridge to enlightenment.

The only octane I use is 93. It's the highest they offer normally here in the northeast. Average 4.45 a gallon. I strictly use shell too. Just a thing I've always had to do. Use shell. I wander if running 107 octane would be Ok? There is a sunoco near by and you can buy 100, 107 and I think another one a little higher. Expensive shit to. $75 for a 5 gallon can of 107 octane.

You could run 116 octane if you wanted. It would hurt performance but you could run it. Since octane is the measurement of a fuel's resistance to detonation, the lower the octane the quicker the burn. This makes more power until you arrive at premature detonation due to the fuel's inability to resist the compression and heat of the cylinder until the spark arrives. VP's MR12 race fuel is actually rated at 87 octane, and 87 pump gas will make more power than 93 pump gas. I'm sure you guys know this but for anyone else reading.

The great secret mystery of gasoline. High octane = more power!!! Right!? Mav is absolutely correct! If you are looking for the best performance you can achieve with any motor you want to run the lowest possible octane you can safely run without detonation. You gain nothing from a higher octane other than a lighter wallet. I usually stick to factory recommendation(90-92) just to error on the safe side, but when I feel like giving my hooliganism a little kick in the pants I'll drop in a full tank of 89.

I have only ever run the premium shell. Just because of the manuals recommendation. Not saying I won't try a tank of the lower octane rated stuff. I believe my local shell has 87.

One of many nice things about the fall season is the cooler (cold?) weather. As others have stated, I find the motor
"grows hair" in the cold!
Eager power surge and just want's to leap off idle!
Also, when the ambient temps are in the 40 to 60 Celcius range, the engine temp is likely to stay closer to the 160 to 180 range and I can go to 89 octane with no worries of hiccups, which means even more go! Coupla days ago, I had to ride the hell out of it on my back country loops just to get the engine operating temp up near 190.
Had a lot of brake dust to clean off the wheels on my return home as well,
A great day all around.
I am not fan of warm (hot) weather and neither is the ZX14. In summer heat it just doesn't "cut as sharp" a power profile...........hope that makes some sense. Hot, sticky weather and the engine operating at and above 200 with 94 octane in the tank is certainly not prime riding time.
Beats the hell out of snow, though, and that will be here too soon, I fear.
