I believe that is right. ..But i think the son is going to end up riding it pretty much, too.

I think a wiser move might be to put him on a new ZX-6R 636 or a Triumph 675R, big step up in every way over the 650 with performance that is just a few ticks off the bigger bikes but won't get you killed as quick as the power is much more manageable.

Also, the handling on the Supersport is going to be better for a newer rider. I have both a ZX-14 and a ZX-6R and prefer the smaller bike when hammering in the twisties, the 14 is my high speed barcolounger when the road get's straight. That said, the 6R will still come close to 160 mph so no slouch up top either.

It's your son though, so none of us can make up your mind for you....choose wisely and best of luck to you and your son.
