Yes...you're right Dogo.Nobody DOES want that.Things have been shifting in my life in the past year or so.Things I don't know what to do about.I'm trying to get my head straight....this deal here wasn't what I wanted at all.Not even.I didn't intentionally set out to create this thing. It just kinda took off...with everyone caught in it somehow.I never meant to do that...ever.I appreciate you saying 'step back...nobody wants this ".....thanks.

I have wanted to post more than once here but everything sounded so preachy. I hate to see old chums go at this hard. Let me add this one simple plea.

I wonder if the manufactures have ever released data as to engine wear and failure because of Mineral verses Syn oil

Millions of engines and cars ,bikes, etc, wouldn't you think by know there would be data to go with the theory this would be done and dusted.

I run full syn, because I think its better, but wouldn't you think manufactures would have points to argue on the subject and be very one sided

But there isn't and they ain't

"I wonder if the manufactures have ever released data as to engine wear and failure because of Mineral verses Syn oil"...Well..the majority of owners I THINK..are told what I was....dino for 3,then syn if ya want.Apparently according to the manual(s)...that sequence really doesn't matter.

I looked this up just now...my 07 called for the standard ratings of SAE,Jaso and the others(SG,SL)those several ones.It does NOT specifically say..."synthetic'.HOWEVER...my 12 manual DOES say "synthetic' in at least one place..in the OWNER'S manual(pg 121).....the weights are the same as my 07.JASO MA indicated 'modifiers for friction'...Jaso being synthetic(includes Amsoil,Mobil One...and of course...the motorcycle mfg's brand as well). In the new engine.

If I'm getting this right,it looks like all years are safely able to start out with full synthetic.I didn't know that was the deal...but I guess it is.My Dealer said run 3 oil changes(in my 07)...switching to full syn on the third one.

My 2012...I went immediately at 85 miles to full syn 10/40(he gave me the same advice this time also...but when I read in there "synthetic' coming from the Kawasaki manual...I just went for it).So far...it seems to be doing fine...over 500 miles(correction below). No weird noises or anything.I tried to find out what type they filled it with...he never did tell me...just said..."don't worry,we'll have er goin for ya".BTW...IT WAS EMPTY coming out of the crate...I checked it myself.NO OIL.Kinda had me concerned there for a bit(was thinkin they filled it overseas...guess not with mine anyway).Good thing I didn't turn the key and try and start er.You know how they fire up and just immediately hit like 2000 rpm for the warm up cycle...wouldn't have been too cool.My 07 wouldn't do that...start without oil.Sh'ed crank, but not start.Soon as the oil started flowin...fired right up.Is it supposed to do that?

When I did do that 85 mile oil change...the oil appeared VERY clean and clear...I didn't find ANY chunks or pieces of anything in the drained oil.Happy about that.

I'm wrong here...she's only got 349 miles. But that oil to full syn is perfectly new looking. My engine sounds okay.

Grn, this is my point you have 2 bikes in recent times and both have different recommendations, as to run in and the long term.

A lot of things don't add up with oil, run Castrol GTX2 in a old car of mine I supose in time those old oils will get replaced as manufactured volumes get smaller and smaller and the cost goes up, Maybe in a decade or 2 things will change as old engines become fewer and fewer.

Then the norm will be syn

Ya...I just guessed that the new engine had been upgraded at some level to start with the full syn...I always heard that was a NO NO.Kinda surprised me when I saw that in there.I went with the book on this. And again...I really don't know what they put in at the dealer's...it was a clearish light gold color..very light colored.I've never seen oil like that before. It may have BEEN full syn for all I know?

You know...I read my booklet...ya...especially about the Kawasaki recommendation to use ONLY their brand(Motul). They mentioned it is 'specifically designed" for this bike.Maybe just hype?Or something to it...I wasn't gonna chance that some other brand might somehow be not okay in some way for it.IDK....I didn't engineer the bike...I trust they know what they're saying beyond motor oil brand sales.Who knows?
