^I can't wait to check that out!

I really should be getting a cheap bike for track but I have also been going back and forth with the idea. I think you should get it ZX14MAN! A lot of people told me that bike top end rush is more crazy than either the 14 or 14R. Get a pipe from Austin Racing and your pushing 200 hp on a bike that weight about 205 kilos!

I'm tempted to wait... once we get a family car, I'll go back t check the beemer. Tricolor is the only way to go

Agreed Tricolour is the way!
What a beautiful bike for the track. Is the ZX 10 even a consideration?
That's a nice one too!

Yes, the tricolor is best looking, considering its the BMW racing colors.

I considered a ZX10R, and LOVE the front end's angry ant look of the newer models.

Another hellaciously fast liter bike, but its not on par with the RR. But then again, none of the other liter bikes are. If I get a seond bike, its gotta be this beast. Noone else around here has one, that I've seen, anyway.

The RR even has a lean angle integrated in the application of the traction control, FOUR power modes, Fastest lap counter.......... on and on.

Its really a racing machine meant for all out track racing......but its street legal.

But the fact is I think alot of ordinary joe schmoes like me buy it mainly for the thrill of having a bike with such amazing features, and hellacious power.

I think she's gonna leave a snail trail on that seat................(Ahem)........

From what I've read, the Brock's CT full exhaust puts out, not only the most power increase, but also a deeper, throaty sound on the RR that the other full exhaust systems offered for it. But I can't speak from experience, only what I've read.

I personally like the looks of the stocky little Akropovic Shorty the best on this bike.

But would prefer the deeper, meatier sound, if that is indeed, coming from Brock's over Akro.

I can say one thing for sure, that is certianly not a bike you take the little woman out for an afternoon ride on. My fiance wouldn't tolerate that board of a passenger seat for two blocks before saying *Take me home, I can't stand anymore!*

May as well buy the seat cowl (as in the photo above), and call it a single person bike, period.

Hell, even the driver's seat is not what you'd call comfortable.

But ergos aside, what a machine!

I see BMW is apparently in the testing stage of a naked, more comfortable version of the RR .

My .02. I did consider a liter bike instead of a 14r (esp the 10), I also looked at naked 1k's (fz1, Z1k, tuono, etc). Even the gsxr750. I tossed those idea's aside, since I knew I wouldn't be happy with anything less powerful than my old R1. Plus, with my bad back and knee; the super sports were out.

What I wished I would have known about, instead of the S1Krr; was the bmw k1300s. I didn't even know they made this bike, had never seen one. I thought they only made the sport rr, and the touring r1200rt and k1600gt. more touring than sport imo. and Im not quite ready for that.

I ran across a guy in Toledo that knows my riding partner; and he has one. pulled up on it, in fact; while we were stopped for icecream. I like the looks, electronic gizmos, suspension, abs, tcs etc. and the comfort. With his helibars on it, I sat on it, and found it to be a little better than my modded 14r. and a big plus, no chain maintenance. lol. how I loath it.

IF they make a next gen K bike with a bit more power, and keep the ergo's, and size/weight; I might have to have one. Or maybe a connie with a version of this gen's 14r motor.

I went over to pick up a brake line for my wife's Merc and I stopped in at the BMW dealership to re-evaluate this. Rode the s1000rr from the BMW dealer over to the Benz dealer to get the part, about 7 miles one way. Ride her back, took my time. If I get a SECOND bike, it would be the bimmer. It could never come close to replacing Priscilla! But I must say, for a canyon carver and track bike, even a weekend blitz riding bike..... WOW! I got through the menus enough to get it out of the safe modes the dealer left it in and it is fer certain the headiest top end rush I have ever felt. Period. Front end wants to climb so fing hard it's ridiculous. I loved it. Just like my duc though, the midrange and ergos make it a bike for me personally, that could not be my only mount. Also, I have to clarify, this bike has very little torque compared to what we are used to and the overall power profile is much different. The 14r's torque advantage makes a massive difference in every day riding. No need to be wringing around at 14k just to access the motor. The power is greater than the BMW, that felt clear. Big bike vs little bike power difference. But that little bike has a top end that re-defines 10-14k on a motorcycle. I want one.

Cblast, I have never ridden the RR, but what you said, I have heard a lot, about the power coming on, on top, not trying to put down the RR in any way, I think it is one of the most amazing bikes to come out in a long time, but I like that low/mid range torque, or pull if you will, I was looking at a lot of the bikes you were, one thing about the aprillas, I have heard from several riders that after only few thousand miles, MOST of the valve clearences were out of spec, and it is a pain in the ass to get in spec....

I think we made the right choice, I'm sure if I rode a 1000 RR, I would want one, on a side note, I have heard that the honda CBR 1000 has pretty good low/mid range punch, but of course it does not have the top end or horsepower of the 1000 RR .... sadly I dont have any friends that have any bikes to trade with for a short ride ...

I have both of them. The CBR has better low end but when it comes to midrange, not sure there is much difference. The S1000RR for 2012 and on has more than acceptable amounts of mid range and as mentioned explosive higher end, not just TOP. They are both a blast to ride for different reasons, but I'd give the nod to the Bimmer. For me, and nothing personal, but they are both more fun to ride by quite a lot than my ZX-14R was.

I prefer my 14...If I was smaller, ie in body and height I might be inclined to purchase one for track duty. But for the street, I'll stick to my 14.

Let me be clear wolf! I liked it and I would have one as a second bike, but I could not live with it as my only bike. And 'fun', is a perception. I like my stealth bomber! The BMW had only average fit and finish too. Metal surfaces looked chintzy and all the little plastic pieces are stuck on like afterthoughts. She is one ugly bike in real life. My 2c. The 14R outclasses he in person by a margin.

I LOVE MY ZX 14 (like I love my m tv)....

Yah, I agree C with your assessment of the BMV. That said, for a litre bike to put down that kind of performance numbers, I am impressed with the Germans. But yah, for me, it's a track toy or a sleek thong.

C the ergos have to be accommodating otherwise it's relegated to getting ice cream and coffee and the pleasure of showing up on it. Track is quite a distance from my home, so I could technically just trailer it off on weekends. But as an every day driver and exhilaration over distances, it's the 14 all the way baby.
It's a big beautiful green world out there my friend!
