ZxRacer, Zman, Wolf, all excellent contributions! I find myself reading y'all's stuff and nodding and agreeing and showing it to my wife and sharing different points of view most times. I am 39 and I learn from y'all. Mad love fellas.
Smokin, my hat is off to you.

Forgot to give a nod to Smokin, who lays it down. Nuff said, the man's perspective is appreciated, writ large!

C - I always learn something from this site, I guess that's why I am addicted to it!

I'm curious here...can a guy be a poser if'n he stops at secluded off the highway stops...has a cigar...and a Rockstar...and relaxes and takes in the coolness of his rocketship? While looking at it from a outcrop on a stone? No one but him and his bike?Thinking on the day's ride and what's up ahead?Watching the occasional Semi roll by with a load of freshly cut trees?

Poser or not...my zx is THE coolest bike I've ever owned. It's my time machine...my thrill ride...my riding buddy. It doesn't criticize me...doesn't talk shit to me...brings me back safe...hasn't left me stranded.Prompts me to ride like the wind...outperforms everything I encounter.Clears my head and helps me enjoy God's world here.No other machine has done that for me....and it is 'just' a machine...with a soul of steel and fire.Ready....waiting...for that startup...that familiar 'clunk'....winding up and out through the gears...smooth...strong.Without a hint of hesitation.Rolling....leaning...powering up and out.

Green,
Some of the best writing I have read, yet at the same time capturing the essence of what it means to be a ZX enthusiast...I felt, instantly connected in the moment, smooth, smooth, narrative.

I might add one caveat..

The hot blond pulls to the shoulder, and walks over, silhouette of gold auburn in her hair against the back drop of a blue sky and blazen sun. She sweeps her arm around your waist and in a deep embrace draws her full supple lips to yours. She moves to your ear and whispers, "Take me to bed or lose me forever!" Like Maverick you gingerly lower you passenger pegs, usher her onto the back or your stead and ride to the next hotel for an afternoon of blissful love making. The bike jealously anticipates your return…

What are you getting on 'The Hand's' case for? He's an old fart semi-pro and if use is jumped on all 3 bikes from a dead stop, I say The Hand has got you all beat... OK, most of you say. WOT does that say about throttle control? WATT does that say about speed input. What does that say about someone now about taking a line you line up all 3 here we go again.

I'll take the lower half of some AMA/FIM round of also rans and run them up against you now and some corner going at it. If the timing is who cares. If the weight who cares. If it's the handling who cares. Did your ass get beat you be in defeat is it is not the bike.

Besides, your twin is waiting to be picked up. The boss cleared it. You paid for more goo and got less gaa.

Hey ZX, my wife knows I write crazy shit on here, but the key is the following:
My day job pay cheque goes to her, my small business funds go to toys. I don't abuse alcohol, or drugs, don't chase skirt, (I do have a flurtcious nature (she knows it), but no bringing it home. I am good to my boy and girl and I come home alive on the bike. Given these restrictions, she lets me talk some shit on line about other women and tatted up babes in good clean fun. My two words are not child support, (cause she can't have em), my two dreaded words are Divorce Lawyer.

I love my wife and my kids to shreds...but I also have a pair!

Hub HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

C - for sure dude, for sure...

On another note, I just took one of the 14 nation members to my favourite haunt, a stretch of abandoned highway were I chase 300 km. My boy Beast was impressed!

Mad love to the Nation,
Wman

Well, looks like I'm going to have to go against the tide on this one and side with my man DragKing. I know where he's coming from, he understands that on paper, the 14R has a small technical advantage in some areas to the older Gen 1.... but races aren't won on paper, they're won where the rubber meets the road and Drag has enough experience on real Texas roads to know if he gets whupped by a 14R it wasn't because of the bike...it was because of the rider. JMHO

I've ridden several times with 14s on my puny little 600, any advantage they have on a straight section of real road, not a glass smooth, abandoned Strategic Air Command, 3 mile long runway but real roads with real gravel, real bumps real curves and maybe real farmers backing out of their driveways, they more than give it back up on the twisty sections. Just my .02

Kruz agreed the "pilot not the craft" however conditions, performance and mods will influence the outcome with two riders bearing same weight dynamics and experience, but as you know this never happens!

Thanks Kruz! I used to live in NE and thought it was all about HP then I moved to TX! Like Hub said, it's in the hand. When the 14R came out, I read the little "article" you wrote about Ryan Schnitz comparing the new 14 to an old Busa or 14 and found out the differences in performance isn't that great which was later confirmed by Smokin. 0.37 second is nothing to me as I have so much more to learn. Same thing for 99% of the guys here so when they talked about the differences in HP and TQ it made me laugh cause they don't even use it.
ZXracer you said you went with light mods on your older bike in a thread and if your old or new bike is upgraded as mine, show me the proofs. So let's not even go there. As far as carpenter racing, like I said I don't need power I can't use. Maybe if I hit a wall during LSR MAYBE! As far as drag racing I respect the sport but my screen name which I have never changed has nothing to do with that. The guys I said I don't respect are guys like you who gets powerful machines and don't push it. Like I said, it's like owning a Ferrari and having no tickets. The kind of racing you do is like car street racing. It's just about who has the money and latest machine. Roll ons involve no skills and you don't have to attend a bike night for bike nights to be populated by guys like you. If you're upset about it, it's just too bad. You went crazy on a few members here and YOU started getting personal, I had to put you back in your place. Check my posts, before you showed up it was about the 14 and 14R no persons involve but some of the guys here wear their heart of their sleeves and their bikes is an extension of their private part. Why get so mad when there is cialis LOL. It's like a child throwing a tantrum, you need a time out card. If you want to debate facts, you're welcome to enter the discussion but riding on Smokin exploits and using that as valuable arguments is childish. Especially when you bike don't see the drag strip. Also, it's not because I own something, I can't point out its defaults au contraire. You see racer all the time saying their bike is crap. Same goes with Cblast, I would have love to see his face when he found out a stock euro ZX-14 went 205MPH.
Anyways, there is no need to get upset, you guys made the right choice for the kind of riding you do, the ZX-14R is best. Check my ZX-14 upgrade thread, I even told people to get a 14R if they wanted straight line speed. It's just not the ultimate weapon you think it is and an S1000RR can compete with it on the drag strip while the ZX-14/14R can't compete with an S1000RR in the twisties. $15000 gives you .37 second and although the Beemer is still more expensive you get more value since you can excel at two different sport with the machine add to that the heated grip on a bike that is not supposed to be a sport tourer. That pretty much sum it up.

Wolf thanks for the compliments, you're far too kind. Enjoy your ride I totally understand where you coming from.

Drag instead of going back and forth likes kid's let's just get past it. You know zero about me or my riding style and i know zero about yours. No hard feelings. Bottom line the zx14 the zx14r and the beemer among other bikes are ALL GREAT bikes period. And i'm happy to ride my bike all day long in my style of riding to my lil hearts content. As long as everyone is happy, that's good for me!!! Sorry for all the bullsh"t and misunderstandings. I was not going off of smokin,i just have been around bikes my whole life, and when i see numbers like that on the drag strip, you guys see little differences but i see that on the street is a big difference. Remeber it's only a 1/4 mile guys, and if most good riders are trapping over 160 constanly and on the other bikes mid to low 150's that's huge. Like people say, sit parked on your bike and let a friend drive by you on his bike going 7-10mph,thats how fast a 14r goes past most bikes in a race. And again thats only in a 1/4 mile, after that it usally gets a little worse on the big end. Again that's what i have seen when racing other big bikes. But to most of us that doesn't matter in the real world this i know, but don't say the new 14r isn't that much better because in the power and speed department that's a very nice upgrade. And let's face it WE ALL bought the 14 for the power and speed among other things, and if you say you didn't your full of it,because if you didn't there are alot better bikes for bigger guys to just cruise and tour on. But again let bygones be bygones, everyone here enjoy your ride and most importantly BE SAFE.

Glad to know we are all moving on, but sincerely, we are real people sitting behind these screens. We are united by a passion for this bike. Even if we disagree, at heart, we need to support each other. I don't like to get involved in disagreements between two men I respect, but I sincerely hope that we do not call each other out or insult each other. It is a show of disrespect unbecoming of any ZX forum member. I' don't like it. I am tempted to tell asshats off too, but in the end, I'll never be able to settle disputes like real men on the street staring at the computer screen. Where I grew up, when a man laid down a challenge, you either answered it, or went into hiding as the street culture of respect would mean you became a hunted man. Lets be careful, some members on this forum bring a treasure chest of experience and knowledge that benefit us all and make us better. ZX and Drag, I read you posts because I draw from your expertise and reflect on your insights I enjoy, C, Green, Kruz, Hub, Kofla, at el and Nasty's perspective just to name a few. Keep posting boyz, thank you for the education, in the end, we are all on the same side.

Represent Baby!
Green Kings we are...

As far as drag racing I respect the sport
That's a sport of how much do you need up at that line? Firsthings first is 'The Hand' [feed] is take a hike. This is not in youranks thanks. So if you do not see 'the hand' gets it done, oh wait there's more! Nexthinglue need is some stick two ititness is next is the setup. I'm going to guess 'the hand' has done most of his own work all those years. That means more mental moves swapping clutch packs either way and all that experimentation/practice/practice/practice.

There are justoo many people that are faster than you and oh well live with it. But, behind every racer, there is not that kind of defeat come some meet. Mental moves creep up to that line. The attitude. The squidoesnotsee it. It's all about winning up at that line. The mental gamesmenshit in your face is no loner year buddy come race day.

You combine all that lever feed leave; the wrench it needs; the reflexmanship in yellow/yellow/yellow green;
You are so green is that was not a pro light; the mental defeat/win is the game is on.
You have seconds counting down is the windup. It happens so fast it happens so slow you have time up there.
You have to defeat the seconds ticking down anday come faster and faster you are now squandering for foot stance.
You have yet to touch the one light on fandango. It takes two to set them off. It's wait! Someone is playing games.
You have the other lane is the head game and you are wondering what's taking that pro so long so long sucker!

The guys I said I don't respect are guys like you who gets powerful machines and don't push it. Like I said, it's like owning a Ferrari and having no tickets.
I'd like to sit that cop down and ask how much he saw and how much I saw that car's rear bumper about to take out my front wheel. No other bike could have gotten me out of that. I'm alive and live with tickets. Defensive driving go figure.

The kind of racing you do is like car street racing. It's just about who has the money and latest machine. Roll ons involve no skills and you don't have to attend a bike night for bike nights to be populated by guys like you.
That's sort of universal? I like reach around googaa looking cars. Someone's art or say the paint job; how the execution is finished. How it looks. The basic blood sweat and someone has the reach around for it. And yeah, they'd find a curb; a wall; another car in lane; you suck'em'inn to a turn. That job ain't looking too gaagoo, now is it, Streetea?

If you're upset about it, it's just too bad. You went crazy on a few members here and YOU started getting personal, I had to put you back in your place.
I could keep quoting dking, but it seems he's more the messenger. I'm not going to hound the guy for what looks more universal to me? I'm just saying that mother teapot is you want to put a smile honor her face is beathever love'inn shit out of it at your own level who cares. Be happy. Every wear hat I go, I'm beating shit out of it don't chew know? Don't worry... Be Hap PEE.

Rick,

Curtain fades to black as the Captain looks over the horizon. There in the shallow murky waters lies the Statute of Liberty, holding a torch and buried waste deep in sand. As he pontificates the meaning of this, he yells "Noooo you did this, dam you!"
