It's A piranha and a tankful of goldfish
No offense of course

Can you post you're race results, are you a licensed AMA pro?

Where do you live? If nearby I wanna go ride with a piranha, I'll bring my 600.

BTW, I like smoked piranha, very tasty.

MAN, hey I'm just saying I had two major problems with both bmw's I've had. One I bought used, the other new. Whatever report they send out to you and ask how the bike/car is doing, I bet there are more bmw breakdowns as opposed to the Japanese. So take 100,000 cars of both brands, tell me who wound up in the shop more often for major flaws/quality of parts, etc? I'll say bmw loses that dependability battle.

And I'm not saying the bike has a problem now. I don't think it had an engine problem, so that was not part of the equation. Did it blow away the other bikes on the list? I'd have to agree. I did ride the V4-Ape for say a few hundred feet up and back. So was it as powerful as the 14? No. Did it stop as well as the 14? Yeah, maybe on par weight for weight. Was it mechanically noisy compared to the 14? Yes.

Now, not race/tracday, mind you, but streeteRRoriding. The riding you need so as not to be center punched by the moving over cager. Could I have moved in a torque mode in 6th gear as the 14 can? No. If I had that rr in 6th, opened the throttle for escape plan #1 [when in doubt, nail it] I think I could have caught their door handle by the time lapsed. But I was cleared with the 14 in said gear.

So MAN, you would know that difference. That ape was not any kind of impressive getaway if we just bottom squirt bikes and stop with all the top end shit. I'm talking survival shithe stink up is you are back home to talk about it.

Nothiside of the line:

ZX14Man64, you're starting to come off like one of those squids that shows up at bike night on his new Ducati Panigale wearing Gucci loafers, chicken strips you could park a bus on and bragging about how much power his bike has. I don't care if you have 500 hp at the back wheel, I can take you out on a twisty road and I'll know inside of 30 seconds if you can ride a motorcycle or not.

We don't ride a spec sheet, we ride motorcycles and on any road that has corners, it ALWAYS comes down to the rider, 99% of the equation.

I can always tell when I'm talking to a really fast guy because they invariably show respect for the other guys ride, not make inflammatory remarks. They don't need to brag on their machine because their skills do all the talking. My .02

I have to disagree.

"Bus Wide" is the line you can park one on. I haven't stopped laughing of that concept and how you put the two together. I heard that from Kruz and cracked up then, it made me think of it.

'Curious, did anyone consider the BMW S1000RR??'

I did! Then I wiped my ass, threw away the magazine and went and bought a big boy bike.

Oh Kruz, come on, give the guy a break. I have chicken stripes and I can't bring that 14 to its potential. Someone else will show up and bring that potential way past what you think was pushing it hard. Someone grabs a 450 single and blows all of us away. Now what?

You mean this toilet paper? I'm anal retentive so I think I might? And then nooooooo. Slow I go one page at time. How retentive are we? I can make a whole rag last a month... If the PO doesn't shred it first thru their sorting machines.

Hey guys, I'm not trying to start a pissin contest here, I like the BMW, definitely gets my respect if there's a good rider stretching the throttle cable. It's winning liter shootouts right now, my analysis the bike posts excellent numbers on the dyno and on a drag strip with no real faults. I respect Road Racing World's opinion, Chris Ulrich and Jeremy Toye are both AMA pros with results to back up their opinion. This year the BMW edged out the 10R, in the '11 Road Racing World liter shootout the results were reversed, 10R came out on top. That tells me you can throw a blanket over these two and there's a couple others that can win depending on the testers and track involved. I have a 10R and obviously like it a lot but no way will I say it's better than Brand X or Y, just my preference at the moment. I'm darn sure not going to make a statement that my bike is a piranha and everything else a goldfish and then say "no offense" when that is exactly what was intended, classic passive-aggressive behavior IMHO. You make that kind of statement, be ready to back it up or risk losing your man card!

Bus wide, yea Hub that puts a smile on my face too!

Someone grabs a 450 single and blows all of us away. Now what?

In the right hands and under the right circumstances that could easily happen. I look at the rider, not what he's riding.

I kept reading Chris'hit about ignition and I gathered 5 bikes and all sorts of different combos of curves, meaning, the intervening there of, are those subs and air cleaner doors slash exhaust subs as well. Not keep going on about ignition only? So in other words, does he really know the in's and out's if I read the same press release?

That's more like nepotism going on. I should listen to a midpacker's point of view?

Hell no! You should do what you do! Take in all points of view, use that as input, add it what you seek on your own and come to a higher level informed conclusion than 90% of the mouth breathing retards walking around with wallets fat enough to form a completely irrelevant opinion about which they know zero, then they ride that horse to death because they are too stupid and scared to learn and come to information correctly about their own mount. Present company excluded of course. Can you tell I have had to deal with too much stupidity today? :)

Ah alright, all forgiven, just one big happy family here...... but Hub and I love a good brawl sometimes. Had a classic knock down dragout with Grn a few years back but now all of us are good friends once again.

Come on Kruz! I think you're going to hard on ZX14MAN. The guy is just happy to have a new bike and it made a good choice. Like Hub and you mentioned it's not about what we can do with our bikes it's about the rider. Sometimes our argument sounds like an old Chinese martial art movie... Kung fu against Karate. If we had to deserve the bikes we buy we would never be able to get them and you don't have to be Hamilton to buy a Ferrari.

Hub, yeah those are the Italian guys I was trying to refer to. I agree with you for street work, 14's and other comfortable smooth motor with huge torque make more sense. In a street test, the R1 or GXS-R are still winning mag test in front of the S1000R, Panigale etc. On the recall, I'm not sure. I would have to look at numbers but I don't care that much to look. They did a stand recall but I think the S1000 engine is bullet proof. I posted in a different thread about this french tuner who said that he saw big variances between S1000RR hp output, one will pull 190 another 178 but that ZX-10R were closer! So it says something about assembly lines. As far as components, I would think that Beemer is better but I have no proof.

At the end of the day I just like the S1000RR more than the ZX-10R. They're both pretty in my eye, the ZX-10R is a green Praying Mantis, a widow maker that will dispose you after she's done and the Beemer a surgery that took place in Chernobyl and went wrong. A weapon is not meant to be pretty per say. The lines speak of performances and the beauty comes from within. BMW just seem to be willing to go the extra mile. They have data loggers, their own Akrapovic exhaust and race ECU etc. So for a wanna be racer like me, this is the best way to go. The extra amount of hp could also help guys that are 200LBS plus and wanna race at the club level.

Enjoy your Bike ZX14MAN, hopefully I can join you. If I can't then it would be a used japanese. The other day, I was holding the throttle at WOT in 3rd gear for as long as I could. The rear tire span and I felt like the swing arm flexed and I asked myself why would I want more power? Short answer...GREED LOL Coming from a 14 or a 14R It's almost a must to get the Beemer unless you have an unlimited bike budget like Kruz! LOL

Easy now, no unlimited bike budget here, just a prudent shopper, bought most of my bikes off the discount rack as last years model. That's one good thing about the endless shootouts, lots of great bikes on sale!

Drag, things got a little carried away as they sometimes do when an emotional topic like bike performance comes up. You know that, one of your threads ran a record 48 pages or so on this subject.

I just don't take part in the paper shootouts anymore, you miss way too many nice bikes if you do. I've had the hots for a KTM for a while now even though it doesn't top the spec sheet or win any tests.

"I love them both but guess where I differ is that the S1000RR is quite a lot more fun to ride than my 14R. It also is EVERY bit as fast if not faster, plus it handles. Getting off one and on another really demonstrates the precision or lack thereof regardling handling."

Who said that? See, I could get into that KTM, but that is not going to be imported into the USA. Wasted my time at a dealer show to see it, feel it, fondle it, rub my upper lip over it. Fuck KTM too!

I have green in the gearage and blue are not my balls. She me getting upset over one more bike-0-fun I gotta have it? And then become disappointed so you jump back on greenie and all it right with the world.

Oh yeah, the Siemens electronics runs rings around the Mikuni on the ape. The ride is different yes. The precision and executions are... I don't wanna go there or it's Fuck You Too Aprilia!

I'll leave it at that.
