Yeah Rook I don't think y'all should spill the beans even later. As long as he's alive and well, that's all I cared about.

Well, I figured it out. Grn got cracked for a fourth DUI while doing 86 in a 45 zone on his bike and got sentenced to 13 months in the slammer. Bummer for him, but I am not very sympathetic when it comes to driving drunk. He blew a .200 which is pretty blasted. Frankly, I had no idea he even drank.

If that's true, all I have to say is everyone has their demons. Hopefully this will be a life changer going forward for him.

I have no sympathy for him if that's his 4th DUI..... It should have been 13 years instead of 13 months

On a side note, how could you physically ride impared? I pulled my bike from my driveway straight forward into the garage after a few drinks one night and It was really hard to do. I couldn't imagine actually riding it toasted.

I think Grn could use our prayers right about now, let's not judge him harshly. I'm hardly the one to cast the first stone here....just sayin.

"Alcoholism is a disease. If a person relapsed 4 times with cancer no one would ridicule him."
Pretty poor analogy there Skewed. There is no choices involved with contracting cancer but there definitely is with taking a drink.
However as I don't know GRN I don't have a right to judge him.

Most people do not believe that alcoholism is a disease and probably never will and thus they simply dismiss it as bad behavior and/or a lack of judgment when in fact it has nothing to do with either.

Pretty sensitive there Skewed.
I made a comment that is 100% fact whether you choose to admit it or not.
You have then assumed you know my opinions and stance on alcoholism which incidentally are completely incorrect.
Easy there tiger...

You're BOTH wrong!! Haha! I kid, but here are my thoughts:
Humans do a number of things that the medical field knows to cause cancer ... smoking, too much sun, eating crappy food, etc etc, y'all know these things of course. Yet we still do them, and many eventually get cancer. Cancer seems like a disease to me.
As for alcoholism, I've never understood how the medical field can justify considering alcoholism a disease. A person makes a decision to drink alcohol. Yes of course it's driven by a desire to do so, sometimes very strong ... but what defines "very strong"? And I have lots of desires to do things that I know I shouldn't, and so I don't do them so as to avoid the penalty. Calling the consumption of alcohol alcoholism just seems like an excuse that could also be used to let someone off the hook for other things, like murder: "I could't help it. I very strongly wanted to kill him, so I did it."
That said, it makes for some excellent comedic material:

Google definition for dis easy now, boys. I know the dif between its and it's as is alot and a lot is that I need a lot of proofreading [and it] still doesn't help catch them.
Anyway,
"a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.
"bacterial meningitis is a rare disease"
synonyms: illness, sickness, ill health; More
infection, ailment, malady, disorder, complaint, affliction, condition, indisposition, upset, problem, trouble, infirmity, disability, defect, abnormality;
pestilence, plague, cancer, canker, blight;
informalbug, virus;
datedcontagion
"herbal preparations to treat tropical diseases"
a particular quality, habit, or disposition regarded as adversely affecting a person or group of people."
That's the one... Datacontagion. I'm contagious. I have watt is knows as, NAVITUNEITIS. Symptoms like, spit, cough, many pushes to wake up type conditions. Those are just the morning modes. Some quit smoking, others do not. Some can handle the chemical change, others vary. Some smoke forever and never die of lung/other areas of cancer due to smoking.
Alex, I'll take junk science for $100.

Skewed,
Hub, are there any translational publications available that decipher Hubbish to English that are not written in Hubbish?
Extra, you could lead the cleanest and healthiest life and still get the big C.
No choice in the matter at all. None.
And no matter what medical or alternative remedies you choose, you virtually have no choice or say if the disease will eventually kill you or not. All you really have is hope.
But if you initially put the bottle to your mouth and continue to do so to the extent that you become an alcoholic, it is 100% your decision and responsibility.
The good news is it can be stopped. It can be cured. It is in your power. Incredibly difficult I know, but possible.
So I feel for alcoholics, but I feel infinitely more for cancer sufferers...

I'm going to stay out of this one, I have two alchoholics in the family, both have battled it most of their lives but they did learn not to drive while impaired. I think it is a disease but that's all I'm going to say.
On a more positive note, I have a ton of recent bike magazines, four subscriptions and thought about boxing up a bunch of them and send them to Ol Grn if I can find out where he's staying and can make contact. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this? I'm sure he'd love to do some reading.

At a blood alcohol of .20 you are 25X more likely to have an accident compared to sober. At .20, even if you are a heavy drinker, you are shitfaced .... 80 in a 45 on a bike. WTF, he's lucky he didn't kill someone and is only doing 13 months. I hope he get's the help he needs, getting sober after 4 dui's is his only option.

I don't know what to say to the "Cancer & Alcoholism" thing (both are sensitive subjects): Lost my mom to cancer not that long ago & lost my father who was an alcoholic a year ago. My mom never asked for cancer but my dad often asked for a drink....
Frankly I can't believe that people just don't give a fuck and risk other people’s lives, that's why they call it a disease.... I truly hope he gets his shit straightened out before he kills someone.
