Should be in the mid 40's by 9:20am, when my first session starts.
Speaking of my first session, I just got off of the phone with the owner of the Org I'm riding with... Turns out, there will not be a 100 level (novice) group on Saturday. It has been replaced by the NRS (New Racer School).
So, I'll be riding 200 level (intermediate) which will be made up primarily of 300 level (advanced) riders just looking to start off a little "slow" being that it's the first track day of the year and a track they have never been on... Talk about jumping into the deep end! As Hub would say, BRING IT!

Now... Anyone have some 10r forks I can borrow?

The track is open!... Here's a couple car vids from the this weekend:

It hailed!

Highs of 53F is too cold for a track day IMHO.

What tires are you using? There is no race dot tire/ slick that could stay warm enough for longer than two laps no matter how long you keep it on the warmers. And after that it literally feels like you're riding on tires that are worn down to the cords.

My two favorites are the UK made Dunlop Ntecs and the new Michelin Power Cups. The price tag of the Dunlops will probably push many to the new Cups and they are killer rubber as well.
Over $500 for a set of Ntecs and $100 less for the Power Cups in 190 rears btw.

53 is plenty warm! hahaha I did a track day in Nov at 34! Granted you can't push it anywhere near as fast, but, can still have a ton of fun!

Watch your tire after your first session. If the rubber does not get soft enough to roll off, it is too cold to go all out. If you are moderately fast, the rubber balls ought to happen even on your first few laps getting to know the track. If your tire ware just looks scuffed like on the street, that might not be the best for leaning really hard. I would wait and see how the rest of the day goes. Prolly it will get warmer by mid day. You'll have a blast no matter what the temps are.

That bike looks very cool Dogo. You're going out this Saturday, huh? Can't wait to see pics.

Looking a litle better now:

^^^I will be stoked if that forecast holds true!^^^

What tires are you using?

Well, I'm not excactly sure yet... The weather this time of year changes fast (forecasts really don't mean shit!), so I will likely be changing tires at some point during the day. I picked up a spare set of wheels and some Diablo Rains (190/60 rear), so I'll have those with me. My other rims will have street DOT's mounted on them... Either Power Pures or bt016's (190/55). I have good sets of both.
The guy that did my suspension (got it back, btw! ) is also the local Pirelli distributor and will have a set of Diablo SC2 Slicks (200/60 ) waiting @ the track for me on Sat... but like you said, those will be hard (if not impossible) to keep up to temp... especially as slow as I'll be going.
Just playing it by ear and trying not to over think it... but I do really appreciate your input.
Maybe should pick up a 240 SchtankHo... Watcha think, Mang?

53 is plenty warm! hahaha I did a track day in Nov at 34! Granted you can't push it anywhere near as fast, but, can still have a ton of fun!

That's the plan!... Take it "easy" and have fun... gotta set the bar low so that my improved lap times, as the year progresses, are more impressive.

Hey, has anyone tried any of the lap timer smartphone apps?... Recommendations?... Wanna download one before Sat, but reviews are spotty and scarce.

You'll be perfectly fine on street tires at those temps.

Just heads up when switching to slicks,as that will make the bike just a little unstable at high speeds.
IMHO a slick rear and a race dot front is a sweet combo.

That 200/60 is a lot of tire, I used to put on the back the closest tire designed for a 5.5" rim that Pirelli has
(the 200/60 is designed solely to be mounted on a 6" rim) and that's the 180/60.

Here's the sizes of the rear Pirellis:

DRY
180/55 DOT W: 184mm D: 641mm
180/60 DOT W: 193mm D: 656mm
190/55 DOT W: 191mm D: 652mm
190/55 SLK W: 195mm D: 652mm
190/60 SLK W: 194mm D: 658mm
200/55 DOT W: 193mm D: 656mm
200/60 SLK W: 198mm D: 658mm

RAINS
160/60 W: 165mm D: 631mm
180/55 W: 181mm D: 641mm
190/60 W: 195mm D: 650mm

Try the UK made Dunlops. I switched to them from spending 3 full seasons on Pirelli rubber and could instantly ride the bike faster for more laps and with less effort, it was really that different.

Here's the new Power Cups that I will use this season, might stick with a race dot front (VA or VB) and a B rear slick.
I'm starting next weekend at VIR, work got in the way of fun a little bit this season

Dunlops?... But my fender came with Pirelli stickers.

You're actually not the only person to tell me to go for the UK N-Tecs. Only reason I'm going with Pirellis is to work with the same guy on tires and suspension. He sold Dunlops last year, but changed to Pirelli this. They put up $60k in contingency money for local reacers, and apparently made him "an offer he could not refuse".

There are tires in that pic?

I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the 18th off of work but it is looking a little bleak.

IDK how you can have 24 vacation hours and give 30 days prior notice and still not get a day off. I guess you have to call in sick the morning of. How f'ed up is that?

U took it real easy on the first lap... cause u went pass all the guys who got ahead initially. Do u think u're lacking top end compared to some bikes out there or u got on the brake a little sooner than some?
What about the suspensions and tires?

No, the bike does not lack a thing.

Actually, everyone was supposed to take it easy the first two laps... Corner workers put out pink flags and everything.

Suspension felt fantastic!
I ran Power Pures the whole day and they provided plenty of grip for me after I got the pressures right... I tucked the front in the first session running 30/27 cold.
