Rook, I'm with you, in my opinion the 2020 through 2023 S1000RRs were the cat's pajamas, just like the 2020 through 2024 Ducati V4s were the pinnacle.... on looks anyway.
The new S1000RR is more track focused with huge winglets and sharper tuning, I thought the older model looked better and was probably better for the road.
If I was going to get a Ducati V4, I'd go '23 or '24, BMW S1000RR I'd go '20 to '23. Now for pricing, the BMWs hold their value extremely well, I paid $20,500 for my 2020 M Sport with full carbon package back in 2023 and thought that was a great deal on a three year old bike with 5200 miles.
A '23 set up the same way would have been north of $30,000 on the showroom floor. I have a buddy who just bought a '22 S1000RR M Package with 3 miles for $20K and he wants to sell it, he's on his way to Houston this morning to pick up a 2016 Ducati 1299 for $16K, those are another bike that hold their value well.
A lot of my friends are passing on new sportbikes and going for older ones that were better for road riding. The new stuff is getting too track focused except for the 2025 Ducati V4 which despite being arguably ugly with the chin spoilers and single sided swingarm, is actually a superb bike both on track and road if you can live with the looks and pricing which is well north of $30K now.
