PC problems
04/29/12 7:48 PM

I bought a PC III and plugged it in. Taking to get tuned next week. Every time I try and ride with it plugged in. The bike boggs down, and then will die, and not want to start. I did the recommended ground it behind the radiator mount. Anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it. I did all the steps dynojet said to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The ground at the radiator bottle has proven to be a poor ground. The plastic bottle is too soft to create a solid contact. The more you tighten the bolt, the closer you get to cracking the bottle. I suggest using the left side subframe meber as a ground instead.

my thumb is pointing at the ground screw I used. That screw fastens the support bracket for the grey wiring bundle on the left hand side

You can use the overflow bottle as a ground screw but you will need to replace the bot with a stud. Put the ground wire eye ring on the stud, put a washer (preferably a washer with grip teeth) over the eye ring and a low profile nut tightens that all down to make the solid ground. Place the bottle on the the stud over the low profile nut. Put a washer over the bottle and tighten it down snug with a blue locktighted nut.

Rook, thanks for the info. I may do the frame, bc the over flow bottle is not working what so ever. Had to pull of a major highway and do some work. (luckly) i keep my tools in the bike. Hey did you get my pm on what to do about the scratches on the cannon and how to get rid of them?
The bike boggs down bad, wont start, and jerks when i have the commander plugged up. You think it could be the grounding that is making it act that way?

...only other guess would be the map is totally wrong but I imagine you would have known that as soon as you started it.

I have read several posts about faulty grounds causing PC failures. Be the first thing i'd try.

If you go with the subframe ground, you may need to attach a jumper wire to reach the screw depending on where your PC is installed. I believe there are a couple screws on the side of the upper air box under the tank fairing that may be used as grounds. Those screws fasten the guides your air filter slides into. They are not just there to provide a ground.

Sorry if I messed up sending the reply about scratched CAnnon. I do remeber that message. If the emblem is scratched, I don't see how you would fix that. You would need to try to order a replacement. For scratches on the pipe, I would use coarse grit sandpaper --not coars enough to scrtach deeper than the slide over the pavement--and smoooth it as much as you can. then go to finer sand paper and smooth that as much as the grade will go. Keep going finer. until you get to that ultra fine 1000 or maybe even 1500 grit. After that, it would be a rubbinging compound. I have used Turtle Wax polishing compound which is actually a bit coarse. 3M rubbing compound will get it like glass and 3M scratch remover will make it absolutely perfecto!

You will prolly want to do the whole muffler when you get down to the polishing compounds. The finish might actually get so smooth that it will be smoother than the manufacturer makes it. Also, I have only used this stuff on paint. I am just guessing that it will work the same on steel. One hell of a lot of rubbing but it can be done. One thing you got going for you is there are no irregular surfaces really. Should be just back and forth like the Karate Kid.

pless pray button berow, Er-royson.
